BENTZ

Lloyd R. Bentz, 77, Kaiser, died March 19, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

He was born April 6, 1922, in Butternut, Wis., a son of Herman and Emma Hett Bentz. He was married June 5, 1948, in Rock Falls, Ill., to Joy L. McCombs Kohl, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he moved to the Lake area in 1954. He was one of the first Mercury outboard mechanics at the Lake, and he drove the tow boat for the original water ski show at Lake Ozark. He retired from Bentz Marine and Supply in 1984. He was a life member of the American Legion, VFW and Disabled American Veterans.

Other survivors include: three sons, David Bentz, Lake Ozark, Donald Kohl and Richard Kohl, both of Sterling, Ill.; one sister, Elaine Balko, Milwaukee, Wis.; one brother, Gordon Bentz, Arizona; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. The Rev. Kerry Presnell will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorne Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday.

BOOKOUT

Florence M. Bookout, 97, Tipton, died March 20, 2000, at Tipton Manor.

She was born Jan. 20, 1903, in Clarksburg, a daughter of E.C. and Allie Mae Cobb Lawson. She was married May 6, 1922, in Tipton, to Roy Bookout, who died in 1982.

A member of First Christian Church, Tipton, and Tipton Garden Club, she worked as an inspector at Tipton Manufacturing Company.

Survivors include two sons, Bill Bookout and Don Bookout, both of Tipton, nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Charles Bookout, in 1999, and one grandson in 1953.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. J.D. Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in Moreau Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Moreau Cemetery or Price James Library.

WESSELS

Buddy Wessels, 80, Eldon, died March 17, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 5, 1919, in Albany, N.Y., a son of Emerick and Bertha Bonvalle Wessels. He was married July 24, 1941, in Eldon, to Lela Wessels, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Lake area, he was employed by Union Electric as a lineman at Bagnell Dam. He was a member of the Shriners.

Other survivors include: one son, Harold L. Wessels Jr., Sarasota, Fla.; three brothers, Paul Wessels and Junior Wessels, both of Apache Junction, Ariz., and Charlie Wessels, state of California; one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Private services will be held at a later date. The remains were cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

TIBBETTS

Sarah Tibbetts, 3, Belle, died March 16, 2000, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.

She was born July 7, 1996, in Columbia, a daughter of Ryan Randall and Tommie Tibbetts. Her father survives in Kansas. Her mother survives in Belle.

She attended Home Church, Belle.

Other survivors include: one sister, Marla Tibbetts, of the home; her maternal grandfather, Tom Tibbetts, Belle; her maternal grandmother, Deborah Hall, Blackwater; and her maternal great-grandmother, Wilma Tibbetts, Belle.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. Bro. Tom Tibbetts, Bro. Albert Guzman, Bro. Joe Armstrong and Bro. Mickey Mooney will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery, Belle.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Marla Tibbetts Educational Fund at Maries County Bank, Vienna and Belle.

HOSKINS

Gerald E. Hoskins, 59, Macks Creek, died March 20, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 17, 1940, in Camdenton, a son of Clyde and Eva Andrews Hoskins. His mother, Eva Russell, survives in Macks Creek. He was married July 17, 1965, in Macks Creek, to Joyce Bunch, who survives in Macks Creek.

A Marine veteran of the Vietnam War, he worked on the assembly line at General Motors and was a member of Harmony Baptist Church, Macks Creek.

Other survivors include: one son, Eddy Hoskins, Macks Creek; two daughters, Lorri Nelson, Hutchinson, Kan., and Jessi Hoskins, Macks Creek; one brother, James Russell, Macks Creek; one sister, Mary Wirths, Wichita, Kan.; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Greenridge Cemetery, Macks Creek.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Homes, Macks Creek.

JONES

Seamer F. "Casey" Jones, 93, California, died March 21, 2000, at California Care Center.

He was born July 25, 1906, in California, a son of Newt and Annabelle Johnson Jones.

An Army veteran of World War II, he worked for Rombachs Bakery and Confectionery for 10 years, as well as the California Democrat. He was the caretaker at California Depot, and was a custodian at Moniteau National Bank for more than 15 years. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, California. He attended Humbart grade school.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerome David Logan, California, and Seamer Franklin Logan,  Jefferson City; one sister, Hattie Allen, Detroit; and three step grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Roy Sparks will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

ALLGAIER

Shirley Jean Allgaier, 66, Tuscumbia, died March 21, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Jan. 6, 1934, in Lamonte, a daughter of Eugene T. and Phyllis J. Smith Bennett. She was married April 27, 1994, in Tuscumbia, to Albert W. Allgaier, who survives at the home.

A 1952 graduate of Smith-Cotton High School, Sedalia, she was a real estate broker and salesperson for Porter-Zoernig Real Estate, Sedalia. She also had been a receptionist in a Sedalia dental office. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Elizabeth Brewer, Jet, Okla.; two sons, Matthew Zoernig, St. Albert, Alberta, Canada, and Daniel Zoernig, St. Louis; two stepsons, Timothy Allgaier, Tuscumbia, and Andrew Allgaier, Cincinnati; two stepdaughters, Gretchen Heinrich, Cincinnati, and Sally Friedrich, Mount Horeb, Wis.; three sisters, Joan Wigglesworth, Sanibel, Fla., Sandra Powell, Houstonia, and Sharon Greer, Marshall; five grandchildren and one step grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to Christian Foundation for Children & Aging, c/o Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

DaVANON

Leonard E. DaVanon Sr., 84, Linn Creek, died March 20, 2000, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.

He was born July 22, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., a son of Francis and Katherine Fairfield DaVanon. He was married to Helen Marie Klinker, who survives at the home.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he retired from the Chicago police force after 33 years. He was a life member of the Illinois Policeman Association, a life member of VFW Post 5923, Camdenton, and St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton.

Other survivors include: three sons, Leonard DaVanon Jr., Lockport, Ill., Robert DaVanon, Romeoville, Ill., and Fredrick DaVanon, Manuel, Texas ; four daughters, Mary Kay DaVanon, Chicago, Frances J. Cantwell, Decatur, Ill., Patricia Bates, Romeoville, and Margaret Riley, Linn Creek; 25 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

One son, John Michael DaVanon, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Camdenton. The Rev. James Fuemmeler will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

DIPPOLD

Robert J. Dippold, 67,  Jefferson City, died March 21, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born March 24, 1932, in Cole County, a son of Katherine Dippold. He was married May 15, 1954, in  Jefferson City, to Naomi D. Upschulte, who survives at the home.

A lifelong area resident, he attended Liberty School. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Schubert. He worked for the  Jefferson City Department of Public Works, retiring after 27 years.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert J. Dippold Jr. and Larry W. Dippold, both of  Jefferson City; three grandchildren; and three step grandchildren.

One daughter, Ruth Ann Dippold, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gerald Scheperle will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to The Lutheran Hour or a charity of the donor's choice.

HEPPARD

Gladys Heppard, 83, Stover, died March 20, 2000, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover.

She was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Laclede County, a daughter of James and Deborah Burkhart McMillian. She was married Aug. 31, 1934, to Wray J. Heppard, who died Jan. 1, 1990.

A homemaker, she worked at Cooper's Store, Henry Kipp's Store, Wilbanks' Cree Mee and the Morgan County R-1 schools, all in Stover. She was a member of Homemakers Club, Garden Club and New Bethel Baptist Church, south of Stover.

Survivors include: two sons, Ralph D. Heppard, California, and Noel L. Heppard, Springfield; one daughter, Willa Marriott, Stover; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One son, Wray J. Heppard Jr., and one grandson, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Stover. Burial will be in Stover City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.

Memorials are suggested to Golden Age Living Center.
