MEYER

Joseph Raymond Meyer, 85, Meta, died March 22, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Jan. 16, 1914, in Koeltztown, a son of Frank and Mary Hilke Meyer. He was married Feb. 23, 1946, in Folk, to Mary Henrietta Heckman, who died March 9, 1997.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Argyle VFW Post 8045. He was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta, and the Westphalia Knights of Columbus. A farmer, he had been a resident of Westphalia Retirement Center for the past three years.

Survivors include: one son, David F. Meyer,  Jefferson City; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schutty will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Cecilia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Meta, with a rosary service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.

PAYNE

Hershel D. Payne, 84, Russellville, died March 23, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 8, 1914, near Russellville, a son of Luther and Desdia Maye Miller Payne. He was married Aug. 1, 1936, in Olean, to Laverne Althoff, who survives at the home.

He attended Zion School near Russellville. He was a dairy cattleman for many years and worked as a custodian for the Cole County R-1 school district for 14 years, retiring in 1979. He then drove a school bus for the district.

A lifelong resident of Russellville, he was a member of Enon Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. He was a trustee of the Baptist Home in Ironton from 1976-1983. He was a member of the German Mutual Insurance Board and was on the Enloe Cemetery Board, serving as president for many years.

Survivors include: one son, Billy Don Payne, Russellville; one daughter, Lawanda Proctor, Russellville; one sister, Ruth A. Hahn, Eldon; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Enon Baptist Church. The Rev. Randy Trumbo and the Rev. Ivan Dameron will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to Enon Baptist Church.

PRENGER

Gerald L. Prenger, 60, Las Vegas, formerly of  Jefferson City, died March 21, 1999, at Valley Hospital, Las Vegas.

He was born April 19, 1938, in  Jefferson City, a son of David A. and Edna Stockman Prenger. His mother survives in  Jefferson City. He was married Nov. 15, 1957, in  Jefferson City, to Janice L. Eickoff, who survives at the home.

A resident of  Jefferson City until 1989, he was a graduate of St. Peters High School. He was a member of the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing and was a NASCAR West stock car owner.

He owned and operated Artistic Reprographic Company and Quality Engineering Company, Las Vegas.

Other survivors include: three sons, Ricky L. Prenger, Jeff L. Prenger and Michael J. Prenger, all of Las Vegas; one daughter, Melissa S. Taylor, Las Vegas; two sisters, Janice Ann Buske, Lee's Summit, and Cheryl Lynn Thomas,  Jefferson City; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peters Church. The Rev. Chris Cordes will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Gerald L. Prenger Memorial Association.

PULLEY

Mary Josephine Pulley, 81, Boonville, died March 21, 1999, at Lake View Care Center, Boonville.

She was born Aug. 10, 1917, in Pleasant Green, a daughter of Dailey and Jennie Teresa Altermott Pulley.

Survivors include four brothers, Jessie Pulley, Bunceton, Kenneth Pulley, Waverly, George Pulley, Lexington, and Marvin Pulley, Fayette.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Longview Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

SNODGRASS

Anna Louise Snodgrass, 91, Vienna, died March 23, 1999, at Maries Manor, Vienna.

She was born Dec. 16, 1907, in Vichy, a daughter of Harvey and Hattie Feeler Allen. She was married June 27, 1924, in Vichy, to Winton Snodgrass, who died Jan. 11, 1960.

She operated a dress shop for 16 years and worked as a bookkeeper for the MFA Farmers Exchange, both in Vienna. She was a secretary for Brown Shoe Co., Dixon, and worked as an office assistant for the Maries R-1 School, Vienna, until her retirement.

She was a member of the Vienna United Methodist Church, the Methodist Women and the church choir. She also served as a Sunday school teacher at the church. She was a member and officer of Lanes Prairie Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Vichy; co-founder, member and officer of Rainbow Chapter 263, Order of the Eastern Star, Vienna; and served as a grand officer of Grand Chapter of Missouri, Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include: one son, Neil Snodgrass, Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Reba Roberson, San Antonio, Texas ; two brothers, Jack Allen and Earl Allen, both of Vienna; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate. Burial will be in the Vienna Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation also will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna United Methodist Church.

VANOSDOLL

Meta Carr Vanosdoll, 95, Lee's Summit, died March 22, 1999, at Lee's Summit Hospital.

She was born June 16, 1903, in Barrow, Ill., a daughter of Frank I. and Dora Thompson Carr.

She was a graduate of Eldon High School and a member of First Christian Church, Eldon. She co-operated Colonial Kitchen and John's Cafe, both in Eldon, from 1938-1948. She moved to Lee's Summit in 1976. She was an assistant supervisor for Kansas Industries for the Blind, retiring in 1968 after 18 years.

Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Lou Hoemeke, Bradenton, Fla; one son, John Clark Vanosdoll, Livingston, Texas ; one brother, Fred I. Carr, Odessa, Texas ; one sister, Theresa H. Schick, Eldon; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

ZERR

Lucy May Zerr, 92, Williamsburg, died March 22, 1999, at Fulton Manor Care Center.

She was born Oct. 7, 1906, in St. Peter's, a daughter of William H. and Sofia Linnebur Boschert. She was married April 15, 1936, in St. Peter's, to Eugene F. Zerr, who died Dec. 1, 1996.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fulton; and American Legion Auxiliary 313, St. Peter's.

Survivors include: three sons, James Zerr and Raymond Zerr, both of Williamsburg, and William Zerr, Jonesburg; three daughters, Linda Schotte, Williamsburg, Carol Pate, High Ridge, and Clarice Crank, Festus; one sister, Elizabeth Boschert, Festus; 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at All Saints Catholic Church, St. Peter's. The Rev. Mike Henning will officiate. Burial will be in All Saints Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, with a rosary at 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

ENGLISH

Sabrina Denise English was stillborn March 23, 1999, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.

Survivors include: her parents, Tom and Holly English, Crocker; three sisters, Trista English, Olyvia English and Marisa English, all of the home; paternal grandfather and step grandmother, Charles and Janice English, Richland; paternal grandmother, Linda Guthrie, Green Cove Springs, Fla.; maternal grandparents, Calvin and Mertice Picard, Jeanerette, La.; paternal great-grandparents, Frank and Myrtie Hunter, Green Cove Springs; maternal great-grandparents, Mable Picard, New Iberia, La., and Amanda Decou, Gonzales, La.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crocker Assembly of God Church Cemetery. The Rev. Rick Elliott will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Sabrina English Memorial Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker.

GILPIN

Karen Sue Gilpin, 55, Holts Summit, died March 25, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Feb. 1, 1944, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Joe and Naomi Wilson Wekamp. She was married Feb. 12, 1968, in Wichita Falls, Texas , to Larry Joe Gilpin, who survives at the home.

She attended  Jefferson City High School. She worked as housekeeping manager at Super 8 Motel and as a housekeeper at the Governor Hotel.

Other survivors include: two sons, Gary Hickman and Steve Gilpin, both of Holts Summit; one daughter, Tammy Hickman, Holts Summit; two brothers, Charles Wekamp, St. Joseph, and Davy Wekamp, Springfield; two sisters, Rhonda Wood, Portland, Ore., and Doris Rademan,  Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

One granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Walter Gilpin will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation or the Epilepsy Foundation.

GLEASON

Brian Lee Gleason, 55, Osage Beach, died March 23, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born June 17, 1943, in Pawnee County, Kansas, a son of Bertle M. and Zula Hoover Gleason. His mother survives in Haysville, Kan.

An Air Force veteran, he was a member of the VFW. He worked as a maintenance engineer and attended the Methodist church. He lived in Osage Beach for the past five years.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Darla VanHorn, Williamstown, W. Va.; two brothers, Linsey Gleason, Lyons, Kan., and Phillip R. Gleason, Wichita, Kan.; and two grandchildren.

No services are planned. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Williamstown.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.

HESSENKEMPER

Betty Jane Hessenkemper, 76, Pilot Knob, died March 24, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in St. Louis. She was married Feb. 28, 1948, in St. Louis, to Werner Frederick Hessenkemper, who died April 28, 1988.

Survivors include: four sons, Richard Werner Hessenkemper, Cape Girardeau, William Frederick Hessenkemper, New Bloomfield, Joseph Paul Hessenkemper, Troy, Mont., and Charles Edward Hessenkemper, Brick, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. Don Munford will officiate. Burial will be in  Jefferson Barracks Cemetery, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.
