KNATCAL
Clarence Smith Knatcal, 81, Jefferson City, died April 1, 2000, at Capital Healthcare Center.
He was born March 4, 1919, in Boone County, a son of Charles and Lydia Koffkey Knatcal. He was married April 24, 1954, in Jefferson City, to Evelyn Jacobine Dudenhoeffer, who survives at the home.
An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he was employed as a foreman at International Shoe Co. for 30 years. He then worked for the Jefferson City Parking Authority for 10 years until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and American Legion Post 5.
Other survivors include two sisters, Mary Robinson, Jefferson City, and Ida Mae Cornwell, Eugene, Ore.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
RAITHEL
Mary Louise Raithel, 83, Jefferson City, died April 1, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 27, 1917, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Leo G. and Mathilda Elizabeth Kroll Scheuler.
She attended St. Peter High School and was employed by Jefferson City Baking Co. She then was a bookkeeper at Schell and Ward Shoe Store.
She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Survivors include: three sons, Michael L. Raithel, Monroe, Conn., Samuel J. Raithel, Jefferson City, and Jeffrey A. Raithel, Plano, Texas ; two sisters, Leona Raithel, Jefferson City, and Doris Markway, Wardsville; five brothers, Raymond "Bud" Scheuler, William Scheuler and Ronald Scheuler, all of Jefferson City, Leo Scheuler, Mexico, and Larry Scheuler, Lake Ozark; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The Rev. Gregory L. Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

WISE
Nancy L. Wise, 60, Shell Knob, formerly of Jefferson City, died April 1, 2000, at St. John's Hospital, Springfield.
She was born Sept. 15, 1939, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Frederick and Frances Goodin. She was married March 31, 1957, to Robert N. Wise, who survives at the home.
She was a licensed practical nurse and was a past resident of Fulton and Springfield.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jerry Wise, Holts Summit, and Robert T. Wise, Centertown; two brothers, Frederick Goodin Jr., Shelbina, and Tom Goodin, Jefferson City; three sisters, Sally Klein, Springfield, Pam Hall, Oakdale, N.Y., and Sandy Goodin, Jefferson City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
One grandson and one great-granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, Springfield. Burial will be in White Chapel Cemetery, Springfield.
Visitation will be from 2:30-3 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
HARTMAN
Iola B. Hartman, 82, California, died April 2, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.
VAUGHAN
Ralph E. Vaughan, 75, California, died April 2, 2000, at Moniteau Care Center, California.
He was born Sept. 3, 1924, a son of Jesse and Rachel Gabrial Vaughan. He was married Sept. 13, 1947, in Harrison, Ark., to Della Simmers, who survives at the home.
He retired after 33 years as an over-the-road truck driver for Orscheln Truck Line, Moberly. He attended Mount Pleasant School. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and Local 534, Sedalia.
Other survivors include: one son, Kenneth Vaughan Sr., Huntsville; three brothers, Earl Vaughan, Fayetteville, N.C., Lester Vaughan, Sedalia, and Karl Vaughan, Jefferson City; one sister, Ruby Hendley, Iberia; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Ken Mathes will officiate. Burial will be in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg.
Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Wednesday.

BORTNER
Lester E. Bortner, 87, Dixon, died April 3, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born May 22, 1912, in Dover, Pa., a son of Paul and Myrtle Stambough Bortner. He was married Nov. 21, 1941, in Platts, to Nora Mae Rockey, who died May 14, 1996.
He served in the Army for 25 years until his retirement in 1954.
He then worked at the Post Commissary, Fort Leonard Wood, for several years.
He was a member of First Christian Church and Arlington Lodge 346 A.F. & A.M., both in Dixon.
Survivors include: one brother, George Bortner, Phoenixville, Pa.; two sisters, Audrey Brant, Hemet, Calif., and Charlotte Valentine, Malone, N.Y.; and one half brother, Paul Bortner, Greentown, Pa.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. April 11 in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle, Pa.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m., and from 9-10 a.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, St. Louis.
CARRENDER
James E. Carrender, 46, Springfield, formerly of Eugene, died April 2, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 16, 1953, in Corpus Christi, Texas , a son of Oliver "Dean" and Dorothy Gates Carrender.
A 1971 graduate of Eugene High School, he received a bachelor's degree from Lincoln University, and a master's degree from Clemson University in South Carolina. He was a self-employed computer security specialist.
He was a member of the World Church of God.
Survivors include: one daughter, Jamey Carrender, Houston, Texas ; one sister, Marsha Brunk, Henley; and two brothers, Jerry Carrender, Jefferson City, and Allen Carrender, Bagnell.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery, Eugene.
Visitation will be from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Hickory Hill Cemetery.
COLE
Ariel Lachelle Cole, infant daughter of Tomica L. Cole and Jeremy L. Trammell, both of Fulton, died March 31, 2000, at Barnes Hospital, St. Louis.
She was born Oct. 26, 1998, in Fulton.
Other survivors include: one brother, Taylor Bowlds, Holts Summit; grandparents, Clarrisa Cole, Columbia, Doug and Melinda Cole, Millersburg, and Evelyn Shockley, Holts Summit; and great-grandparents, James and Edith Cole, and Vernon and Margaret Garrlott, all of Fulton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. James United Methodist Church, Fulton. The Rev. Clanton W. Dawson will officiate. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Warren Funeral Chapel, Fulton.

WYCKOFF
Lorraine Wyckoff, 66, Stover, died April 2, 2000, in Moniteau County.
She was born Sept. 6, 1933, in Fruita, Colo., a daughter of Edward O. and Ruth Charlotte Welsh Crary.
She was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She worked for the Missouri Department of Conservation and James A. Reed Wildlife Preserve, Lee's Summit, until retiring and moving to Alaska. She moved to the Stover area in 1999.
Survivors include: one son, Roger Lewis, Granby; four daughters, Karen Cole, Kansas City, Ruth Rose, Greenfield, Lois Randall, Florence, and Candy Poese, Excelsior Springs; 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Nancy Parrish, and one grandchild preceded her in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The Rev. Christian Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Methodist Cemetery, Florence.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.
