AESCHBACHER

Herbert S. Aeschbacher, 87, Laurie, died April 5, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Feb. 23, 1913, near Versailles, a son of Simeon and Lydia Garber Aeschbacher. He was married Dec. 3, 1939, to Ruth E. Lehman, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer until his retirement.

He was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church, near Versailles.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Myrna Sherman, Laurie, and Elaine Ernst, Tipton; four grandsons and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Mennonite Church. The Rev. Tom Voth and the Rev. Jim Lawley will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to Bethel Mennonite Church.

CONNER

Walter A. Conner, 48,  Jefferson City, died April 4, 2000, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1951, in Belle, a son of Pleasant A. and Irene D. Branson Conner. He was married June 20, 1990, in  Jefferson City, to Rhonda Roark, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended school in Belle. He was employed by Bill's Roofing Co. for more than 20 years.

Other survivors include: five daughters, Tracy Roark, Holts Summit, and Tina Abbott, Christle Roark, Carrie Roark and Tonjia Abbott, all of  Jefferson City; two sons, Jamie Roark,  Jefferson City, and Walter Humphrey, Holts Summit; four sisters, Kay Forbis,  Jefferson City, Dorothy Erhart, Hermann, Mary Jane Haynes, Florissant, and Linda Nowack, Owensville; one brother, Andrew Conner,  Jefferson City; and 10 grandchildren.

One daughter, Ronnetta Roark, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Freeman Mortuary. Burial will be in the Henley Cemetery, near Henley.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Walter Conner Memorial Fund.

SAMSON

Arthur "Red" Samson, 74, Loose Creek, died April 5, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 7, 1925, in Osage County, a son of George and Christine Maasen Samson. He was married Oct. 24, 1953, in Linn, to Helen K. Lauf, who died Oct. 19, 1993.

A lifelong area resident, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department for 30 years, retiring in 1987.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek, and A.A.R.P.

Survivors include: two sons, Jerome H. Jacobs Sr. and Leroy Jacobs, both of  Jefferson City; seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Greg Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception Church.

NICKELL

Richard Dean Nickell, 41, Chillicothe, died April 5, 2000, at Truman Medical Center, Kansas City.

He was born Feb. 24, 1959, in Los Angeles, a son of Cecil and Norma Boulware Nickell. His mother survives in Chillicothe.

He moved from Kansas City to Chillicothe in 1998.

Other survivors include: two brothers, Robert Nickell, Kirksville, and Roger Nickell, Kansas City; three sisters, Thelma King, Lucerene, Glenda Mutrux, Glenwood, Iowa, and Rhonda Shay, Grandview; and his fiancée, Mary James, Chillicothe.

Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Willis Rowden will officiate. Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery, near Dixon.

Visitation will be from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Saturday.

MEREDITH

Geneva Oma Meredith, 74, Eldon, died April 5, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born May 19, 1925, in Miller County, a daughter of James C. and Cora Anna Keeth Meredith.

She was a member of Blue Springs Baptist Church, near Eldon.

Survivors include: two sisters, Waunetta Brown, St. Charles, and Pauline Stark, Eldon; and one brother, Gail Meredith, Centralia.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. John Shifflet will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.

GARRETT

Mikel Gene Garrett, 45, Auxvasse, died April 2, 2000, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

He was born July 13, 1954, in Kansas City, a son of Billy G. and Lorraine Ann Lorenzo Garrett. His mother survives in Auxvasse. He was married Dec. 24, 1973, in Lubbock, Texas , to Cynthia Kay Hundley.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Other survivors include: one son, Mikel Shane Garrett, Auxvasse; one brother, Billy Stillman Garrett, Auxvasse; and one sister, Susan Evon Terrel, Grove, Okla.

Private family services will be held.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

BARNES

Services were today for Fronia Alice Barnes, 91,  Jefferson City, who died April 3, 2000, at her home.

She was born April 15, 1908, in Braden, Okla., a daughter of Isaac J. and Lummie Warlick Davis. She was married Oct. 27, 1929, in Pocola, Okla., to Albert Bryan Barnes, who died Nov. 4, 1984.

She attended schools in Murray Spur, Okla.

She was an X-ray assistant at Sparks Hospital, Fort Smith, Ark., for 15 years until her retirement in 1973.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Pocola, since 1935.

Survivors include one daughter, Oma Lee Tracy,  Jefferson City, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were at First Baptist Church, Pocola. The Rev. Shelton Rogers officiated. Burial was in Macedonia Cemetery, Pocola.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Pocola, Okla. 74902.

Arrangements were under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home, Greenwood, Ark.

Local arrangements were under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

BUSCH

Harold Paul Busch, 82,  Jefferson City, died April 5, 2000, at Columbia Regional Hospital.

He was born Jan. 6, 1918, in  Jefferson City, a son of Hugo and Lina Jung Busch. He was married Dec. 11, 1944, in Winterhaven, Fla., to Ruth Naomi Michael, who died April 19, 1985.

A 1937 graduate of  Jefferson City High School, he was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He worked for Central Trust Bank for 57 years, retiring in 1997, and was manager of the first motor bank in  Jefferson City.

He was active in the Boy Scouts for 54 years. He was on the Great Rivers Council for 34 years and served as an advisor to the National Explorer Program. He earned the Silver Beaver Award in 1955.

He was a member of the  Jefferson City Area Chamber of Commerce and  Jefferson City Board of Adjustment.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the youth committee. He was awarded the Lamb Award, Trinity Lutheran Church's highest award.

He was a member of the Men's Garden Club, National Experimental Aircraft Association and the Missouri Valley Turf Association.

He managed Park Board baseball teams and created Central Bank's Classic Club, a travel club.

Survivors include two sons, Stephen Busch, Pleasant Hill, and Michael Busch, Kansas City, and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jerome Brownlee and the Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Boy Scouts of America Great Rivers Council.
