JAMES
Roy L. James, 68, Jefferson City, died April 7, 2000, at his home.
He was born July 1, 1931, in Summersville, a son of Andrew J. and Olla May Knight James. He was married Jan. 15, 1976, to Helen Taggart, who survives at the home.
He had a career in the U.S. Army, retiring in 1972.
Other survivors include: six sons, Ron James, Eldon, Russell James, Virginia, Rickey James, Kentucky, Alan Sherrell, Jefferson City, and Steve Sherrell and Mark Sherrell, both of Meta; one daughter, Ranell Copley, North Carolina; one brother, Harold James, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at James and Gahr Mortuary, Salem. The Rev. John Smith and the Rev. Guy Thomas will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30-10 a.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to Community Hospice of America, Columbia.
VAUGHT
George William Vaught, 75, Jefferson City, died April 8, 2000, at St. John's Mercy Hospital, Washington .
He was born Oct. 15, 1924, in Centertown, a son of Bill W. and Grace Birdsong Vaught. He was married March 1, 1947, in Jefferson City, to Dorothy Jane Smith, who survives at the home.
He attended schools in Callaway County. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and American Legion Post 177, both of Eureka; Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5; and a 50-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 2.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He had been employed with Shade Tree Service Company, Fenton, for more than 40 years until his retirement.
He also is survived by one sister, Viola Blakley, Tulsa, Okla.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association.
FICK
Paul H. Fick, 61, Rocky Mount, died April 9, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born Oct. 23, 1938, in Brinktown, a son of E.F. and Mamie Brandel Fick. He was married Dec. 29, 1972, to Shirley Thompson Holmes, who survives at the home.
He was a Navy veteran. He worked for Cook's Paint and Varnish Company for four years, Schneider Electric Company for seven years and Howerton Electric Company for 32 years.
He was a member of: IBEW Local 257 for 39 years; lifetime member of VFW Post 1003, Jefferson City; AMVETS Post 108, Rocky Mount; American Legion Post 105; National Electrical Contractors Association; and IBEW-NECA apprenticeship training committee.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Tina Bianca, Chesterfield, and Tarina Bowers, Centertown; one stepdaugther, Debbie Baker, Holts Summit; one sister, Louise Oberkrom, Jefferson City; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Donald Wallace and Larry Weber will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
FEMRITE
Dean E. Femrite, 56, Eugene, died April 8, 2000, in Stover.
He was born March 16, 1944, in Madison, Wis., a son of Phillip J. and Virginia Schultz Femrite. His mother, Virginia Bacon, survives in Janesville, Wis. He was married July 20, 1963, in Janesville, to Peggy Brown, who survives at the home.
He was a machine setup operator at Fasco, Eldon.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dean E. Femrite Jr. and Chad A. Femrite, both of Eugene; one daughter, Tina L. Godbey, Eldon; one sister, Mary Ann Jones, Janesville; three brothers, Phillip A. Femrite, Whitewater, Wis., and Keith A. Femrite and Ray Femrite, both of Janesville; and seven grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded him in death.
No services are planned. The remains were cremated.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
HUDSON
Nell A. Hudson, 96, Ashland, died April 9, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
She was born April 2, 1904, in Crawford County, a daughter of William and Electa Bacon Patton. She was married Nov. 2, 1932, in Cedar City, to Lloyd Hudson, who died Feb. 8, 1988.
She worked for Tweedies Shoe Co. and West End Shoe Co. She was a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Hartsburg, for more than 65 years. She also was a member of Ashland Senior Center.
Survivors include one son, Gary Hudson, Columbia, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Baptist Cemetery, Hartsburg.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland.
Memorials are suggested to Mount Pleasant Baptist Cemetery.
MOSS
Alice P. Moss, 82, Iberia, died April 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born July 13, 1917, near Iberia, a daughter of Horatio and Cynthia Dodd Prater. She was married Sept. 2, 1936, in Tuscumbia, to Walter Otis Moss, who died March 17, 1981.
She worked at Fort Leonard Wood for 22 years, retiring in 1980. She was a member of Iberia American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary and Iberia Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include: two sons, James H. Moss, Iberia, and John B. Moss, Jefferson City; one daughter, Jane Swing, Galesburg, Ill.; one brother, Glen Prater, Elk Grove, Calif.; two sisters, Eva Wilson, Iberia, and Emma Faltz, Lincoln, Neb.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Iberia Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. John Bouldrey will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
Memorials are suggested to Iberia Church of the Nazarene.
MELLER
Jesse Cole Meller, 18, Taos, died April 9, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident near Meta.
He was born March 3, 1982, in Jefferson City, a son of Daryl L. and Kimberly J. Hollaway Meller. His father survives in Taos. His mother survives in Jefferson City.
He was a senior at Blair Oaks High School, where he was a four-year honor student. He was a member of the Math Club, Future Business Leaders of America and Who's Who Among America's High School Students.
He worked at Target for two years and had been named Employee of the Month. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Taos.
Other survivors include: one sister, Aubrey Meller, Taos; paternal grandparents, Bernard and Frances Meller, Holts Summit; and maternal grandmother, Marcella Hollaway, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Our Parish Our Future Fund.
NEUHART
Jonathan L. Neuhart, 19, Jefferson City, died April 9, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born June 27, 1980, in Jefferson City, a son of Eddy and Margene L. Wakefield Neuhart. His parents survive in Jefferson City.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, he was a 1999 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He currently was attending State Fair Community College in Jefferson City.
He was a part-time employee at the Sub Shop for the past two years. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served as the sound engineer.
Other survivors include: one sister, Jesica Neuhart, Jefferson City; and paternal grandfather, Charles E. Neuhart, Bolivar.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Ken Lumley and the Rev. Mike Rapp will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Cemetery, Bolivar.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Freeman Mortuary.
