LAFFOON
Frances Gunier Laffoon, 84, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 7, 1914, in Stockton, a daughter of Everett and Alpha Hembree Gunier. She was married July 20, 1935, in Newton, Kan., to Vernon F. Laffoon, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Manual High School, Kansas City, she lived in the Kansas City area before moving to Jefferson City in 1994. She was a member of the Methodist church. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: two sons, Al Laffoon, Jefferson City, and Jim Laffoon, Blue Springs; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Stockton Cemetery. The Rev. Wesley Ummell will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at Stockton Methodist Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimers Disease and Related Disorders Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
LOVEALL
Donald R. Loveall, 56, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Feb. 4, 1943, in Jefferson City, a son of Harley and Bessie Summers Loveall. He was married Aug. 30, 1997, in Jefferson City, to Rhonda D. Reed, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended Jefferson City public schools. He was employed by Jefferson Asphalt Company from 1979-1997, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 833.
Other survivors include: four daughters, Cynthia Loveall, Tipton, Roxanna Henderson, Newton, N.C., Deanna Watson, Broken Arrow, Okla., and Sherry Abbott-Carlson, Rochester, Minn.; three sons, Danny Lee Loveall, New Franklin, Sherrill Dean Reed and Shawn Jean Reed, both of Jefferson City; two sisters, Betty Steinmetz, Jefferson City, and Gearldine Anderson, Russellville; one brother, Jerry Lee Loveall, Henley; and nine grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Allen Speer will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum of Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Donald R. Loveall Memorial Fund.
PINETTE
Niccole Monique Pinette, 60, Belle, died March 23, 1999, at her home.
She was born June 8, 1938, in Minnesota, a daughter of Allen and Elizabeth Billock Pinette.
She was a school teacher in the state of California before retiring and moving to Belle six years ago.
Survivors include: one son, Bill Neilssien, Marin, Calif.; two brothers, Bobby Pinette, state of Minnesota, and Tom Pinette, Anaheim, Calif.; and one sister, Jan Westcott, Charlotte, N.C.
No services are planned. The remains will be cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
PRENGER
Marie Elizabeth Prenger, 95, Taos, died March 24, 1999, at Oak View Living Center.
She was born Dec. 8, 1903, in Taos, a daughter of Ben J. and Minnie Braun Prenger.
She attended St. Francis Xavier School and worked as a housekeeper for the Rev. Gerhardt Schmidt. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Louis Prenger and Carl Prenger, both of Taos.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Taos, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
STARK
Lila L. Stark, 89, Osage Beach, died March 24, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Feb. 6, 1910, near Lamar, a daughter of Moses and Nellie Clark. She was married July 4, 1941, to Robert Stark, who preceded her in death.
She was retired from the H.D. Lee Company, and was a member of Central Avenue United Methodist Church. She lived at Ozark Care Center for nine years.
Survivors include: one daughter, Judy Johnson, Camdenton; one brother, Oscar Clark, Kansas; and one granddaughter.
Two daughters, Carol Sue Stark and Sharon Joy Stark, preceded her in death.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Mount Hope Cemetery, Kansas City. The Rev. Joyce Scott will officiate.
Visitation will be from 3-4 p.m. today at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton.
STONE
Sadie Louise Buehrle Stone, 96, Kansas City, formerly of Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at Kingswood Health Center, Kansas City.
She was born July 30, 1902, in Jefferson City, a daughter of James L. and Caroline W. Gipfert Handley. She was married Nov. 27, 1923, in Jefferson City, to Everett Keller, who died Aug. 23, 1924. She was married June 1, 1927, in Jefferson City, to Henry A. Buehrle, who died Sept. 19, 1956. She was married Aug. 26, 1972, to Omer E. Stone, who died Aug. 22, 1988.
A graduate of Jefferson City High School and Justin Business College, she was a homemaker. She co-operated Buehrle Grocery Store for 20 years. She then was employed at Oberman's Manufacturing Co., Missouri Power and Light Co. and Jefferson City Water Co.
She was a member of Central United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School for 35 years and served on several church committees. She was a member and past president of the Women's Fellowship, the Steineger Church Circle and the Bazaar group of the church.
She was a member of Victoria Chapter 14, Order of the Eastern Star, and a past member of Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary. She also had done volunteer work with the American Red Cross.
Survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn Brown, Leawood, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Virginia Wirtz, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one stepson, John Stone, Lee's Summit; two grandchildren, four step grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Central United Church of Christ. The Rev. Stephen H. Buchholz will officiate. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 11-11:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Kingswood Health Center, Hospice or Central United Church of Christ.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
WOFFORD
James Donald "Don" Wofford, 58, New Bloomfield, died March 23, 1999, in New Bloomfield.
He was born Aug. 14, 1940, a son of James C. and Bessie Mae Wisdom Wofford. He was married June 6, 1959, to Kay Campbell, who survives at the home.
He worked for the Department of Corrections until his retirement.
Other survivors include: two sons, Bud Wofford and Neil Wofford, both of New Bloomfield; three sisters, Florence Sellers, New Bloomfield, Marie Hedrick, North Pekin, Ill., and Byrtle Webster, Pekin, Ill.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Wilson Mortuary, Salem. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday.
YEOHAM
Evelyn Yeoham, 89, Jefferson City, died March 23, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1909.
A homemaker, she had been a resident of the Jefferson City area for the past 10 years.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
ASHWORTH
Ellene Anna Weaver Ashworth, 86, Stover, died March 24, 1999, at Laurie Care Center, Laurie.
She was born Dec. 12, 1912, in Chicago, a daughter of Clyde and Frieda Woehrle Weaver.
She was retired from Teletype Corporation, Chicago, where she was involved with the choral group. During World War II, she was a Red Cross driver. She was a member of Royal Neighbors of America, Garfield Park, Ill.; WOW Service Organization through Teletype Corporation; and St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Versailles.
Survivors include: one son, Albert Ashworth, Schaumburg, Ill.; one daughter, Bobbie Hoernig, Stover; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two granddaughters and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Versailles. The Rev. C.D. Ryan will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Laurie.
Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
BENNETT
Charles R. Bennett, 77, LaFeria, Texas , formerly of Gravois Mills, died March 22, 1999, at Valley Baptist Medical Center, Harlingen, Texas .
He was born April 14, 1921, in Columbia, a son of Charles R. and Mattie L. Gooding Bennett. He was married March 19, 1991, to Shirley K. Smith, who died Sept. 27, 1993.
A pilot, he was a Navy and Air Force veteran.
He was a member of VFW Post 2591; Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, Laurie; Masonic Lodge; and Shrine Temple.
Survivors include: one son, Charles Roy Bennett III, Smithton; one sister, Jessie McFarland, Sedalia; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. Jim Lawley will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Tuesday.
