GILBERT

Andrew E. Gilbert, 89, Tipton, died April 16, 2000, in Sugar Creek.

He was born Dec. 19, 1910, in Tipton, a son of Luther and Sopha Ann Schmidt Gilbert. He was married Nov. 14, 1937, in Tipton, to Martha Louise Ferguson, who died Dec. 26, 1999.

He worked as a mechanic for 55 years for Hainen Motor Co. and Garber Motor Co., Tipton, retiring in 1975. He also farmed.

Survivors include one son, Frank Gilbert, Sugar Creek, and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Dusty Klein will officiate. Burial will be in Masonic Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

TURNBULL

John Howard Turnbull, 80, Holts Summit, died April 17, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Shoshone, Idaho, a son of John and Mona Turnbull. He was married Jan. 27, 1973, to Linda Shively, who survives.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he received a juris doctor degree from the University of Idaho in 1969. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and State Farm Insurance. He retired from the Missouri Division of Employment Security in 1991.

He was a member, elder and deacon of First Christian Church. He was a member of Mended Hearts, Learning in Retirement, Creative Writers Society and Lincoln Investment Club. He served as a mentor at East Elementary School.

Other survivors include: two sons, Reginald H. Turnbull,  Jefferson City, and Jan P. Turnbull, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; two daughters, Midge A. Glavin, Holts Summit, and Beth S. Turnbull-Dyer, Hingham, Mass.; two sisters, Ethel Freel, Chesterton, Ind., and Molly Reisinger, Portland, Ore.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to First Christian Church or the American Heart Association.

GARRISON

Don L. Garrison, 66, Lee's Summit, died April 17, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Morgan County, a son of George W. and Opal Irene Lee Garrison. He was married in 1956 to Mavis Coit, who surives at the home.

He owned and operated Auto Wash Supply and Engineering Co. in Kansas City. He was an Army veteran.

Other survivors include one son, Greg Garrison, Lee's Summit, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glensted United Methodist Church, near Versailles. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

ROBINETT

Charlie Evans Robinett, 81, Brumley, died April 18, 2000, at his home.

He was born March 30, 1919, in Brumley, a son of Sherman and Eva Harman Robinett. He was married Aug. 27, 1938, in Waynesville, to Ruth Luttrell, who survives at the home.

He worked in construction as a self-employed carpenter. A farmer, he raised chickens and turkeys. In 1949, he drove a school bus for the Brumley School.

He was a member of Rodden Church of Christ, near Brumley, where he was a Sunday school teacher.

Other survivors include: four sons, Dwane Robinett, Terry Robinett, Ronnie Robinett and Aaron Robinett, all of Brumley; seven daughters, Mary Myers, Faye King, Diana Jeffries, Kathy Lawson and Bettina Garmany, all of Brumley, and Geneva Witt and Brenda Pritchett, both of Iberia; two brothers, James Robinett, Tuscumbia, and Lynn Robinett, Brumley; one sister, Frances Long, Brumley, 33 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Dennis Nichols will officiate. Burial will be in Robinett Cemetery, near Brumley.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of  Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.

STOVER

Bethany Ann Stover, 48,  Jefferson City, died April 17, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1951, in Paris, Ill., a daughter of Howard E. and Betty Lou Fletcher Brown. Her father survives in Oakland, Ill. She was married Aug. 22, 1981, in  Jefferson City, to Norman Henry Stover, who survives at the home.

A 1969 graduate of Shiloh High School, Hume, Ill., she was a Navy veteran.

She worked for Dillards, St. Louis, and One-Call Systems Inc.

She was a former member of the First United Methodist Church, Paris, and the Crisis Pregnancy Association.

Other survivors include: one son, Daniel Stover,  Jefferson City; three stepdaughters, Ellen Hegdal, Las Vegas, Nev., Emily Hrdina, St. Peters, and Sarah Robertson, Decatur, Ala.; three stepsons, Matthew Stover, Chesterfield, Andrew Stover, Rolla, and Aaron Stover,  Jefferson City; and one brother, Daniel C. Brown, Oakland, Ill.

One son, Joshua Howard Stover, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. James R. Walker will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Edgar Cemetery, Paris, Ill.

Visitation will be from will be 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Bethany Stover Memorial Fund.

FECHTEL

Kathryn Magdalen Fechtel, 80,  Jefferson City, died April 18, 2000, at her home.

She was born June 1, 1919, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of James J. and Mary Frances Swillum Walsh. She was married Jan. 17, 1941, in  Jefferson City, to Charles H. Fechtel, who died Aug. 18, 1985.

A homemaker, she was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, the Women's Association of the church, Daughters of Isabella and the Dan C. Coppin Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus Auxiliary.

Survivors include: one son, Bernie Fechtel,  Jefferson City; four daughters, Kaye Hellman, Manchester, and Pattie Parris, Charlene Bias and Jackie Blackwell, all of  Jefferson City; one brother, Dan Walsh,  Jefferson City; three sisters, Helen Spaunhorst, Kansas City, and Agnes Gray and Betty Schnieders, both of  Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Dennis J. Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Vogelweid Learning Center; St. Joseph Parish Foundation for the benefit of the school; or a charity of the donor's choice.

LUETKEMEYER

Nicholas G. Luetkemeyer, 46,  Jefferson City, died April 18, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 9, 1953, in  Jefferson City, a son of Urban B. and Lois F. DeWesplore Luetkemeyer. His parents survive in  Jefferson City. He was married June 23, 1979, in  Jefferson City, to Debbie Marcantonio, who survives at the home.

A 1971 graduate of Helias High School, he co-owned and co-operated Luetkemeyer Signs since 1986. He was a former member of St. Martins Catholic Church and later attended Western Hills Assembly of God.

He was a member of First Foursquare Church. He was a YMCA soccer coach for eight years and was active in various church youth groups.

Other survivors include: six sons, Alan Luetkemeyer,  Jefferson City, Joshua Luetkemeyer, Kirks-ville, and Samuel Luetkemeyer, Adam Luetkemeyer, Daniel Luetkemeyer and Matthew Luetkemeyer, all of the home; two daughters, Casey Luetkemeyer and Jamie Luetkemeyer, both of the home; three brothers, John Luetkemeyer and Kennan Luetkemeyer, both of McGirk, and Tom Luetkemeyer, St. Louis; and five sisters, Jane McKim, Susie Theroff and Dianne Luebbert, all of  Jefferson City, Jackie Steuber, New Bloomfield, and Sally Brewer, Ringgold, Ga.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at First Assembly of God Church. The Rev. Stephen Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Luetkemeyer Children's Scholarship Fund, in care of Central Bank, Attn. Loriel Kelsey.

SOUTHERN

E. Richard Southern, 63, Hartsburg, died April 18, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 9, 1936, in Madison, a son of Earl R. and Lillie B. Crosswhite Southern. His mother survives in  Jefferson City.

He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a bachelor's degree in 1958. He received an LLB in 1960 and a juris doctorate in 1969. He practiced law in Columbia and  Jefferson City from 1961 until his retirement in 1998.

He was employed as an attorney in the Sales Tax Division of the Missouri Department of Revenue from 1960 to 1961. He was legislative counsel for the Missouri Health Care Association from 1971 to 1998; executive secretary and general counsel for the Missouri Dump Truck Association from 1974 to 1998; and general counsel for the Missouri Auto and Truck Recyclers Association from 1974 to 1998.

He was a state senator in the Missouri legislature from 1971 to 1976. He served as chairman of the Senate Ways and Means Committee, and was vice chairman of the Conservation, Parks and Forestry Committee. He was a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Banks and Financial Institutions Committee, Fiscal Affairs Committee and the State Budget Control Committee.

He was administrative assistant to the Senate majority leader and served as Senate president pro-tem from 1989 to 1990.

From 1961 to 1967 he was a state representative in the Missouri legislature, where he served as chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee. He was a member of the House Appropriations Committee, the House Civil Procedure Committee, the House Judiciary Committee, the House Rules Committee and the House Joint Rules Committee.

He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association, the Cole County Bar Association, the Missouri Alumni Athletic Committee and Ducks Unlimited. He was a member and past president of the University of Missouri Cole County Alumni Association.

Other survivors include: his fiancée, Carol Kuensting, Hartsburg; two sons, Rick Southern, Falls Church, Va., and Todd Southern, Hayward, Calif.; one daughter, Honore "Deborah" Rowe, Hayward; one brother, James Southern,  Jefferson City; and three grandsons.

Private services will be held Friday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Private burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the University of Missouri-Columbia Law School or the Prenger Family Center.
