AHART

Alice M. Albertson Ahart, 86, Maryland Heights, formerly of Brumley, died April 18, 2000, at St. Frances Hospital, Mountain View.

She was born July 18, 1913, in Brumley, a daughter of James L. and Julia Francis Robinett Albertson. She was married Aug. 18, 1934, in Tuscumbia, to Alph Ahart, who died Jan. 22, 1971.

She worked as a housekeeper at Villa Capri in Maryland Heights, retiring in 1978.

Survivors include: two sons, Earl Wayne Ahart, St. Charles, and Joseph Ahart, Overland; one daughter, Mary Brooks, Mountain View; three sisters, Bernice Ash, Patterson, Lura Smith, Maryland Heights, and Anna Ahart, Eldon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Two granddaughters preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Jay Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Jarrett Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

GALBREATH

Robert Lynn Galbreath, 72, Fulton, died April 17, 2000.

He was born April 5, 1928, a son of James W. and Mildred Jeffers Galbreath. He was married Nov. 16, 1952, in Columbia, to Gladys B. Sanderson, who survives at the home.

He attended George Washington Carver School. A Marine Corps veteran, he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 37 years, retiring in 1985.

Other survivors include: two sons, Robert L. Galbreath Jr., Fulton, and Michael E. Galbreath, San Diego; one daughter, Rachelle R. Nuckols, Plano, Texas ; two sisters, Jean Davis and Lola Britt, both of Fulton; three brothers, Henry Harrison Galbreath, Springfield, Ohio, Richard C. Galbreath, Fulton, and Roy R. Galbreath, Peoria, Ill.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. C.W. Dawson and the Rev. Henry Brewer will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to St. James Methodist Church, Fulton.

GROFF

Rose Eveline Groff, 95, Belle, died April 18, 2000, at a  Jefferson City hospital.

She was born Oct. 6, 1904, in Osage County, a daughter of John H. and Ida Klein Lehnhoff. She was married Feb. 23, 1927, to Silas Groff, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Mount Zion Baptist Church in Bell and worked for the Belle Counter Company until she retired.

Survivors include: two sisters, Mildred Pointer,  Jefferson City, and Minnie Green, Belle.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Mount Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. William Luttrell will officiate. Burial will be in Heyer's Cemetery, Belle.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Sassmanns Funeral Home, Belle.

JONES

Wanda Ann Jones, 44, Iberia, died April 19, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Feb. 13, 1956, in Jerseyville, Ill., a daughter of Bill and Rose Mary Taylor Holland. Her parents survive in Alton, Ill. She was married Aug. 20, 1980, in Pensacola, Fla., to Gary Jones, who survives at the home.

She was a graduate of Jerseyville High School and a member of the Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: three sons, Josh Jones, Iberia, and Johnathon Gary Lee Jones Jr. and Matthew Holland, both of the state of Illinois; two daughters, Lisa McComb, Ulman, and Startina Holland, state of Illinois; one stepson, Timothy O'Brian Jones, state of Illinois; two stepdaughters, Pricilla Jones and Chrisann Stottler, both of Illinois; two brothers, Sam Holland, state of Missouri, and John Holland, state of Texas ; and one grandson.

Services will be at 7:30 a.m. Friday at Full Gospel Tabernacle, Iberia. The Rev. Ernest Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery near Iberia.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.

SMITH

Robert Lee Smith, 58, Linn Creek, died April 18, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 15, 1941, in Hannibal, a son of S. Kenneth and Mary Ellen Morris Smith. He was married Feb. 1, 1980, in Camdenton, to Stella Mae Jacobson Blomberg, who survives at the home.

A 1958 graduate of Camdenton High School, he moved to Kansas City and served a five-year apprenticeship in plumbing. He returned to Camdenton in 1965. He owned and operated R. L. Smith Plumbing Co. since 1965.

He was a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church, the National Rifle Association and Lake Builders Association.

Other survivors include: two sons, Justin Marshall Smith, Osage Beach, and Michael James Smith, Linn Creek; one daughter, Serena Lane Smith, Camdenton; one stepson, William H. Blomberg, Versailles, and Donna M. Borders, Camdenton; two sisters, Janet Henson and Joyce Rogers, both of Camdenton; four half brothers, Tom Duermyer and Dwayne Duermyer, both of Camdenton, Kenneth Smith, Farmington, and Stephen Smith, Kansas City; one half sister, Judith Ann King, Kansas City; one grandchild; and seven step grandchildren.

One son, Robert L. Smith II, and one stepson, Gary Blomberg, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Rick Ginnings will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery, Montreal.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Freedom Cemetery.

SHORT

V.C. "Bud" Short, 66,  Jefferson City, died April 20, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born June 13, 1933, in Boss, a son of Rubal C. and Gladys Irene Herndon Short. He was married June 13, 1975, in Columbia, to Elaine "Liz" Dulle McKinney, who survives at the home.

A 1951 graduate of Ironton High School, he was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He owned V.C. "Bud" Short State Farm Insurance Agency since 1965.

He was life member and past commander of Roscoe Enloe American Legion Post 5, a past president and director of the American Legion Home Association and Chef de Gare of the 40 & 8 Voiture 1292 of the American Legion. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693, the board of the American Legion Sports Complex and a life member of Roy Sone VFW Post 1003. He was a life member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the National Association of Life Underwriters. He was a member of Meadow Lake Acres Country Club and the Fifty-plus Golf Association.

Other survivors include: two sons, Scott Short, Eugene, and Gary P. McKinney, Blue Springs; four daughters, Cyndi Tolbert, Russellville, Kathy Doerhoff, Taos, Connie Engelbrecht, Wichita, Kan., and Christy Watts, Farmer City, Ill.; one sister, Doris Horton, Florissant; one brother, Wayne Short, Bismarck; and 15 grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex or the American Heart Association.

BURFORD

Margie R. Burford, 76, Sedalia, died April 19, 2000, at Four Seasons Living Center, Sedalia.

She was born Dec. 1, 1923, in Sedalia, a daughter of Charles M. and Mary L. West Conner. She was married Dec. 31, 1956, in Sedalia, to John C. Burford, who died Sept. 9, 1986.

A member and officer in the Big 8 CB Club and Civil Defense, she was known as "CD 3", working base radio communications out of her home. She worked at the Coffee Pot, Woolworth Department Store, Katz and Osco Drug, Producers and Swifts Processing and for the Missouri State Fair, all in Sedalia. She was a member of Parkview Christian Church.

Survivors include: one daughter, Janice L. VanBooven, Sedalia; one son, Gary Burford,  Jefferson City; four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

One grandson preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Ewing Funeral Home, Sedalia. The Rev. Rodney L. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

FARROW

Delbert P. Farrow, 79, Henley, died April 20, 2000, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, a son of Claude and Laura Lee Ward Farrow. He was married July 19, 1963, in Cape Girardeau, to Betty L. Gregory, who survives at the home.

He attended school in Egypt Mills and was an Army veteran of World War II. A resident of Central Missouri since 1963, he was employed as a truck driver with the Transport Delivery Co. for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1982.

Other survivors include one daughter, Linda Dickerson, Ponca City, Okla., three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Lindsey Cemetery, McClure, Ill.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.

FERRELL

The Rev. Harold L. Ferrell, 61, Mokane, died April 19, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 7, 1938, in St. Louis, a son of Lyle and Pauline Ferrell. He was married Aug. 31, 1957, to Shirley Pyle, who survives at the home.

A Navy veteran, he worked as a police officer for St. Louis County for 15 years. In 1977, he became a Methodist minister, serving La Plata, Jonesburg, Willamsville and Bloomfield. He was currently serving Mokane United Methodist Church, Tebbetts United Methodist Church and Steedman United Methodist Church. He also volunteered for the South Callaway Fire District.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Theresa Crutchfield, Fenton; two sons, Michael Ferrell and James Ferrell, both of St. Louis; five sisters and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. James Powell will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.
