WELLS
Chester Jewel "Red" Wells, 84, Jefferson City, died April 21, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 23, 1915, in Maries County, a son of Joseph E. and Oda Mildred Jett Well. He was married Oct. 3, 1934, in Jefferson City, to Hazel Lucille McDaniel, who died Sept. 25, 1996.
He attended the Wilde School, Argyle, and worked for Central Missouri Recycling Center. He was a lifelong member of Concord Pentecostal Church of God, recently attending Capital West Christian Church.
Survivors include: three daughters, Tammy L. Weider, Shirley J. Renn and Mary Ann Cranmer, all of Jefferson City; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Ken Harland will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to Capital West Christian Church or Heisinger Lutheran Home.
SMITH
Dorothy Smith, 78, Dixon, died April 21, 2000, at Phelps County Regional Medical Center, Rolla.
She was born July 10, 1921, in Randolph County, Ark., a daughter of Clarence and Ida Weaver Kerley. She was married Dec. 24, 1938, in St. Louis, to Charley Richard Smith, who survives in Dixon.
A member of the Santee Community Church, Dixon, she was a homemaker.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Smith, Jefferson City, and Paul Smith, Lebanon; two daughters, Shirley Sharp, Rolla, and Mary Askins, Madison Heights, Mich.; two sisters, Velma Greer, Phoenix, Ariz., and Maxine Griffin, Manila, Ark.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Homes, Dixon. The Rev. James St. John and Brother Harold Withers will officiate. Burial will be in Seaton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Santee Community Church, Dixon.
WELLS
James Ezra Wells, 60, Tuscumbia, died April 22, 2000, at the Miller County Nursing Home, Tuscumbia.
He was born Dec. 2, 1939, in Eldon, a son of James P. and Dessie Jewell Upton Wells. He was married to Darlene Kay Wilson Forbis, Holts Summit, and then to Anna Ruth Calton, Eldon.
He worked for Fasco Industries. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Aurora Springs Baptist Church, Eldon. He served as a Baptist minister for several years in Stoutsville and Eldon.
Survivors include: one daughter, Lori Ann Wells Cook, Springfield; two sons, James Darrin Wells, Sterling, Va., and Mark A. Wells, Eldon; two sisters, Mary Jane Sears, Eldon, and Cora Mae Kelly, Nickerson, Kan.; and three grandchildren.
The remains will be cremated. Burial will be at a later date at the Salem Cemetery, Eldon.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
WOOD
Louren R. Wood, 62, Waynesville, formerly of Jefferson City, died April 22, 2000, at his home.
He was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Richland, a son of Claude and Naomi Steckel Wood.
He was a retired assistant attorney general for the state of Missouri.
Survivors include: three sisters, Rosalind Richards, St. Paul, Minn., Delores Pfeiffer, Florence, Ore., and Priscilla Wood, Wheaton, Md.; and one brother, Alan Wood, Berkeley, Calif.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Waynesville United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Richland.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Waynesville Memorial Chapel, Waynesville.
Memorials are suggested to the Pulaski County Library District, Waynesville.
PEAVEY
Donald L. Peavey, 65, Gravois Mills, died April 22, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 28, 1935, in Salem, a son of William H. and Effie Mae Hobson Peavey. He was married to Janice L. Peavey, who survives at the home.
He was a crane operator for several oil companies in Alaska.
Other survivors include: two sons, Steve Peavey, Carbondale, Ill., and Donald Peavey Jr., state of Indiana; two stepdaughters, Rosemarie Rice, Mentasta Lake, Alaska, and Tamara Neuberger, Phoenix, Ariz.; one brother, Lennis Leslie Peavey, Malaga, Wash.; one sister, Aretta Frances Morris, St. Clair; and 10 grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carty Cemetery, near Rolla. Dallas Moritz will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
SCHONDELMEYER
The Rev. Raymond Arthur Schondelmeyer Jr., 81, Columbia, a former resident of Jefferson City, died April 22, 2000, at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics, Columbia.
He was born July 16, 1918, in Houstonia, a son of Raymond A. and Mary Prowell Schondelmeyer Sr. He was married June 11, 1945, in Lebanon, Ky., to Nancy Lee Wade, who survives at the home.
He attended school in Pettis County and was a graduate of Houstonia High School. He received his bachelor of science degree in theology from Westminster College, Fulton; he received a degree in divinity from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville; and he received his master of science degree in rural sociology from the University of Missouri.
He was a pastor in several churches in Kentucky; was a pastor at the Steelville Presbyterian Church, Steelville, from 1954-1964; was director of ecumenical research and planning for the Metropolitan Church Federation, St. Louis; was with the Missouri Council of Churches, Jefferson City; was interim pastor of several churches in Missouri and Wisconsin; and also worked with the Habitat for Humanity in Jefferson City.
He attended First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson City, and was a member of the Lions Club.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dr. R. Wade Schondelmeyer and William Ray Schondelmeyer, both of Columbia; two daughters, Pamela Sue Brown, Ames, Iowa, and Patricia Lee Nekula, St. Peters; one brother, Charles E. Schondelmeyer, Manchester; two sisters, Barbara Ratcliff, Drexel, and Virginia Bridges, Independence; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Presbyterian Church, Jefferson City. The Revs. Bruce Berry, Raymond Massey and Mark Kim will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to the Rev. Raymond A. Schondelmeyer Memorial Trust Fund, or to the Alzheimer's Association.
SCHMITZ
Leonard H. Schmitz, 82, Loose Creek, died April 21, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Sept. 10, 1917, in Osage County, a son of Henry and Catherine Hasenbeck Schmitz. He was married May 20, 1944, in Loose Creek, to Evelyn Haslag, who survives at the home.
He attended the Cadet Creek School and was an Army veteran of World War II. A lifelong area resident, he was a farmer.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek, and VFW Post 4756, Linn.
Other survivors include: two sons, Terry Schmitz and Dale Schmitz, both of Loose Creek; one daughter, Cheryl Wilbers, Loose Creek; one brother, Cletus Schmitz, Loose Creek; one sister, Margaret Haslag, Loose Creek; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. The Rev. Gregory Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in Immaculate Conception Church Cemetery, Loose Creek.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
BURRE
Loretta Cecilia Boffa Burre, 85, Tebbetts, died April 23, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Dec. 16, 1914, in Montgomery County, a daughter of Paul and Clara Elsenraat Boffa. She was married Dec. 25, 1940, in Fulton, to Kenneth "Polly" Burre, who died April 11, 1999.
Having attended St. Joseph Catholic School, Rhineland, she was a member of Riverside Extension Club, St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Mokane, Ladies Sodality, and was a volunteer with the Older Adults Transportation System.
Survivors include: three daughters, Carol Sanderson, Jefferson City, and Sheila Guthrie and Polly Ann Burre, both of Tebbetts; three sisters, Sister Ethel Marie Boffa, O'Fallon, Viola Wilson, Fulton, and Imelda Smith, Tebbetts; one brother, Bernard Boffa, Tebbetts; and two grandchildren.
Two infant daughters, Janice Ann Burre and Suzanne Burre, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Liberty Cemetery of South Callaway or St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church.
DULLE
William Joseph Dulle, 60, Rocky Mount, died April 24, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 6, 1940, in Centertown, a son of Joseph H. and Dorothy Schepker Dulle. He was married Jan. 17, 1959, in St. Louis, to Marcella Ann Starke, who died Nov. 15, 1991. He was married Aug. 23, 1997, in Camden County, to Geraldine Marie Sartorius, who survives at the home.
A graduate of DeAndreis High School, St. Louis, he was employed as a service technician for more than 25 years with General Electric Corporation, St. Louis. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Eldon, and the National Rifle Association.
Other survivors include: two sons, Thomas H. Dulle, Hazelwood, and Gerald J. Dulle, Fulton; one daughter, Darlene M. Bushart, Hurricane, W.Va.; one stepson, Shane E. Westerdale, Lake Ozark; one stepdaughter, Antwonette M. Kemna, Olean; one sister, Mary Jane Eichenseer, Florissant; one brother, Robert J. Dulle, Florissant; two grandchildren and one step granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. The Rev. James J. O'Sullivan will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will aos be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
