DWIGGINS
Christopher Paul Dwiggins, 5, Jefferson City, died April 23, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born Nov. 19, 1994, in Jefferson City, a son of Robert and Robin Harding Dwiggins, who survive in Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: one sister, Ashley Joy Dwiggins, Jefferson City; maternal grandmother, Kathy Parks, Camdenton; paternal grandmother, Joy Harvey, New Market, N.H.; maternal great-grandparents, Lois and Clifford Laird, Branson; and paternal great-grandmother, Mary Harvey, Apopka, Fla.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Jefferson City. The Rev. Don Evans will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Ronald McDonald House; or the Ashley Joy Dwiggins Educational Fund, c/o Central Bank, Jefferson City.
JONES
The Rev. Earl Floyd Jones, 84, Dixon, died April 24, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born June 3, 1915, in Iberia, a son of Arthur and Lucy Bacon Jones. He was married Aug. 7, 1937, in Cupertino, Calif., to Grace Pauline Teeple, who died Sept. 22, 1996.
He was a graduate of the Iberia Academy. In 1952 he moved from the state of California to Dixon and became a minister. He was pastor at Campground Church, near Meta, for 48 years, and at Burnett Church, Dixon, for more than 40 years.
His radio program, Earl Jones Sunday Morning Fellowship Hour, began in 1956, and ran for 13 years on KRMS Radio Station. He was a partner in Triangle Hardware, Well Drilling and Pump Supply, Dixon, for 19 years.
Survivors include: three daughters, Chloe Woody, Meta, Joyce Fers, Marshfield, and Carolyn Bassett, Dixon; one brother, Farris Jones, Dixon; two sisters, Gladys Humphrey, Marshfield, and Clarice Whitaker, Dixon; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Burnett Church. His grandsons will officiate. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the AWANA Program at Burnett Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
BREEDEN
John David Breeden, 56, Jefferson City, died April 25, 2000, at Eldon Health Care Center.
He was born Oct. 25, 1943, in Fulton, a son of Arthur L. and Frances Masek Breeden. He was married Nov. 4, 1968, in Marysville, Calif., to Veda Wilden, who survives at the home.
A Navy veteran, he was employed by the Missouri Highway Department. He then was an electronic technician at the Missouri Department of Conservation for 30 years.
He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church.
Other survivors include two sons, John P. Breeden and Robert D. Breeden, both of Centertown.
One son, Arthur Leon Breeden, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Grace Episcopal Church. The Rev. Harvel Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to St. Mark Episcopal Church, Portland, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
CROWSON
Doyle W. Crowson, 82, Versailles, died April 24, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 16, 1917, in LaRussell, a son of Dr. Forrest A. and Lenna Dell Wormington Crowson.
He worked for Martin Aircraft in Baltimore and was an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, Kan., for 40 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Versailles, and the Elks Lodge, Wichita.
Survivors include one brother, Donald Crowson, Kansas City, and one sister, Vivian Elley, Versailles.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Diane Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Westminster United Presbyterian Church or the Versailles Nutrition Site.
BENTZ
Rita L. Bentz, 67, Osage Beach, died April 24, 2000, at her home.
She was born Nov. 21, 1932, in Boone County, a daughter of Ory D. and Virginia Rule Jacob. She was married May 12, 1961, to Robert Paul Bentz, who died Nov. 19, 1988.
She was a banquet manager.
Survivors include: one son, David Murphy, Elmwood Park, N.J.; one daughter, Stacy Bentz, Lake Ozark; one brother, Elgin Jacob, Mexico; and one sister, Thelma Randolpf, Eldon.
One daughter, Suzan Bentz, preceded her in death.
Private family services and burial will be at a later date in New Jersey.
Visitation will be from noon-3 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
BONTRAGER
Gladys Dean Bontrager, 92, Eldon, died April 25, 2000, at Eldon Healthcare.
She was born Oct. 3, 1907, in Etterville, a daughter of Henry C. and Swancie Hankins Long. She was married May 23, 1928, in Tuscumbia, to Arthur Bontrager, who died March 12, 1969.
She was a member of Eugene Christian Church, the Miller County Historical Society and the Eugene Country Club.
Survivors include: one daughter, Anna Mae Shipman, Eugene; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home. Alan McNeely and Richard Harrison will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Show-Me Christian Youth Home.
GERITZ
Henry "Hank" Geritz Jr., 73, Lee's Summit, died April 24, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was born Sept. 9, 1926, in Atchison, Kan. He was married to Anita Geritz, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Kansas City area, he was a Navy veteran of World War II. He attended Rockhurst College and graduated from CMSU, where he received a bachelor's degree in 1954 and a master's degree in 1956. He played semi-pro baseball for several teams, including the Holden Chiefs. He was a teacher and coach for 32 years. He taught at Malta Bend, Fort Osage and Lee's Summit schools. He was a member of the National Education Association, Kansas City Oldtimers Baseball Club and the Lee's Summit Christian Church.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Peggy Brown, Lee's Summit; one son, Greg Geritz, Jefferson City; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at D.W. Newcomer's Longview Funeral Home, Kansas City. Burial will be in Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the Hank Geritz Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o the Bank of Lee's Summit.
HOLTWICK
Ruth McCowan Holtwick, 99, Fulton, died April 24, 2000, at Fulton Nursing and Rehabilitation.
She was born Dec. 25, 1900, in Boone County, a daughter of Everette and Naomi Glascock Sapp. She was married June 29, 1920, to B.R. McCowan, who died Sept. 30, 1961. She was married Oct. 23, 1973, to Laban Lee Holtwick, who died June 23, 1991.
A homemaker, she worked at Mattinglys and cared for the elderly in her home. She was a member of the Church of God Holiness, Fulton, and a past member of the Fairview Willing Workers.
Survivors include: one son, Lloyd McCowan, Fulton; two daughters, Rachael Vaughn, Fulton, and Ruby O'Neal, North Fort Myers, Fla.; one brother, O.T. Sapp, Hutchison, Kan.; two sisters, Lura Holland, Polson, Mont., and Mary Humphreys, Fulton; 10 grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 18 step great-grandchildren; 26 great-great-grandchildren and eight step great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Church of God Holiness. The Rev. Bobby Clouse and the Rev. Kenneth Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.
