KINDER
Leftie Kinder, 103, Iberia, died May 8, 2000, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.
She was born Jan. 24, 1897, in Miller County, a daughter of Felix and Mary Jones Bond. She was married Nov. 24, 1919, in Stoutland, to Marquis Earl Kinder, who died March 3, 1965.
She worked as a telephone operator for Murphy Telephone Co., Iberia, for more than 30 years. She co-owned Kinder's Market, Iberia.
She was a member of Iberia American Legion Post 105 Ladies Auxiliary and a 60-year member of Iberia Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of Iberia First Baptist Church, where she kept the nursery and taught Sunday school.
Survivors include: one son, Okley Kinder, Iberia; one sister, Ruby Lamb, Crocker; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, James E. Kinder, died Feb. 3, 1997.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Iberia First Baptist Church. The Rev. Glen Golden will officiate. Burial will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m., and from 8-11 a.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Visitation also will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Iberia First Baptist Church or Iberia Cemetery.
HAMLER
Walter Edward Hamler, 76, Versailles, died May 8, 2000, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born March 3, 1924, in Leavenworth, Kan., a son of Walter and Dora Corriston Hamler. He was married Nov. 21, 1956, to Betty Holmes Wilkes, who survives at the home.
A Navy Air Corps veteran, he was a district merchandise manager at Montgomery Ward for 32 years until his retirement in 1982. He was a past resident of Jefferson City.
He was a member of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church and Rolling Hills Country Club, both in Versailles, and Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, Laurie.
Other survivors include: three sons, Steven Hamler, Horsham, Pa., John Wilkes, Holts Summit, and Norman Hamler, Athens, Ga.; one daughter, Pamela Armato, Gladstone; one brother, Edward Hamler, Versailles; one sister, Dorothy Colt, Leavenworth, Kan.; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. C.D. Ryan will officiate. The remains were cremated.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
GORMAN
Kathleen Gorman, 76, Belton, formerly of Jefferson City, died May 7, 2000, in Kansas City.
She was born April 6, 1924, in Fairfax, a daughter of Orville and Norma Pfander Fulk. She was married Oct. 21, 1989, in Santa Monica, Calif., to James A. Gorman, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Troy High School, Troy, Kan., she earned a bachelor's degree in business management from the University of Kansas-Lawrence.
She was an office and business manager of the Missouri Automobile Dealers Association and the California Automobile Dealers Association before retiring.
She was a member of the Wilshire Boulevard United Methodist Church, Beverly Hills, Calif., the country club in Indian Wells, Calif., and was past president of the Jefferson City Chapter of the National Secretaries Association. She also had lived in Kansas City and Los Angeles.
Other survivors include: one stepdaughter, Marilyn Joyce, Santa Monica; two stepsons, Terence E. Gorman, Tampa, Fla., and James A. Gorman II, Los Angeles; five step grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church, Savannah. Burial will be in Savannah Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the church.

COPELAND
Jerry W. Copeland, 52, Russellville, died May 8, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born June 20, 1947, in Waynesville, a son of Leslie and Cecil Brickey Copeland. He was married Sept. 11, 1985, in Custer, S.D., to Abbe J. Hoffman, who survives at the home.
A graduate of Vienna High School, he worked for the Missouri Department of Labor and Industrial Relations for 24 years, most recently as a procurement officer.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Jim Probst will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Dixon Cemetery, Dixon.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Heart of Missouri Humane Society or Habitat for Humanity.
WHITE
Chester Hollis White Sr., 80, Jefferson City, died May 8, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Aug. 29, 1919, in Boone County, a son of Orville and Beulah White .
He was an Army veteran of World War II. A cook, he worked at Adcock's Cafe and the cafeteria in the Jefferson Building. He also owned and operated Whitey's Cafe.
He was a member of VFW Post 1003.
Survivors include: one son, Chester H. White Jr., Jefferson City; three brothers, Kenneth E. White and Buford N. White , both of St. Louis, and Charles H. White , San Diego, Calif.; one sister, Nellie Again, Columbia; and two grandchildren.
Private services are planned. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. Dan Merz will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
JOHNSON
Marie T. Johnson, 56, Ashland, died May 9, 2000, at her home.
She was born March 30, 1944, in Columbia Heights, Minn., a daughter of Irving and Temple Watson Nygaard. She was married Dec. 27, 1967, in Manhattan, Kan., to Gary Johnson, who survives at the home.
She taught at Southern Boone County Elementary School for eight years.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Kari Johnson and Marit Johnson, both of Ashland; and one brother, Jon Nygaard, Fergus Falls, Minn.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Vicki Braddy will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. Thursday.

MILLER
Marion Otis Miller, 95, Florence, died May 7, 2000, at Golden Age Living Center, Stover.
He was born July 2, 1904, in Tohaka, Texas , a son of Otis L. and Nanny Taylor Miller. He was married Nov. 18, 1927, in Fresno, Calif., to Dortha E. Hopkins, who died Dec. 13, 1987.
He was a nurse, retiring from the San Diego County Hospital. He moved to Florence nine years ago. A former Spring Valley, Calif., resident, he was a past member of Bancroft Baptist Church, Spring Valley, Calif. He was a current member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, Florence.
Survivors include: one son, Dennis O. Miller, Anaheim, Calif.; one daughter, Barbara L. Lewis, Florence; one sister, Erma Evans, Fresno; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Bancroft Baptist Church. Burial will be in La Vista Memorial Park, National City, Calif.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

SCHULTE
Elizabeth Schulte, 88, Wasco, Calif., formerly of Eugene, died May 8, 2000, at Delano Convalescent Home, Delano, Calif.
She was born April 2, 1912, in Freeburg, a daughter of Peter and Theresa Bauer. She was married Sept. 15, 1931, in Marys Home, to Sylvester Schulte, who died Feb. 22, 1988.
She was a cook at St. John's School and a member of St. John's Catholic Church, both in Wasco.
Survivors include: three sons, Wayne Schulte, Winchester, Ky., Alvin "Pete" Schulte, Wasco, and Don Schulte, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Rosalie May and Lucille Fachen, both of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Shirley Schulte, died in 1936.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Friday at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will be in Wasco Memorial Park, Wasco.
