FERRIER
David E. Ferrier, 60, Orangeburg, S.C., formerly of Linn, died May 14, 2000, at Palmetto Baptist Medical Center, Columbia, S.C.
He was born July 17, 1939, in Linn, a son of Earl and Virginia Vaughan Ferrier. His mother survives in Linn. He was married Aug. 31, 1963, to Diane Biswell, who survives.
A graduate of Linn High School, he attended Central Methodist College, Fayette. He received a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from U.M.K.C., and a master's degree in hospital pharmacy from the University of Kansas.
He was retired from the Regional Medical Center of Orangeburg and Calhoun Counties, where he was director of pharmacy for 23 years.
He was a member and lay leader at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, Orangeburg.
He was past president of the Orangeburg Kiwanis Club and the Orangeburg Arts Festival.
He served as a Boy Scout leader and was a volunteer in charity work for the local Council of Churches.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert B. Ferrier, Chapel Hill, N.C.; one daughter, Karen Smith, Orangeburg; one sister, Mary Lou Schulte, Linn; and two grandsons.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Andrews United Methodist Church. Services also will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Campbell-Lewis Funeral Home, Marshall. Burial will be in Ridge Park Cemetery, Marshall.
Memorials are suggested to the Linn Public Cemetery Fund; St. John's United Methodist Church, Linn; or to the Osage County Historical Society.
McNEW
Jeffrey Steven "Jeff" McNew, 40, Wardsville, died May 13, 2000, in a drowning accident on the Osage River.
He was born Feb. 19, 1960, in Jefferson City, a son of Lloyd J. and Emma Elizabeth Bax McNew. His parents survive in Jefferson City.
A graduate of Blair Oaks High School, he was a carpet installer for Howell's Carpet. He was a member of St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville.
Other survivors include: three sisters, Terri Stockman and Jennifer Prenger, both of Jefferson City, and Sandy Benne, Wardsville; one brother, Darryl McNew, Taos; and paternal grandmother, Helen McNew, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael A. Coleman will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 4 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Stanislaus Education Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
DIENER
Alice M. Diener, 98, Goshen, Ind., formerly of Versailles, died May 13, 2000, at Greencroft Health Care, Goshen.
She was born Aug. 31, 1901, in Hickory County, a daughter of Moses M. and Sarah L. Raber Diener.
She worked in housekeeping at the Kidwell Rest Home and Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles. She was a former member of Mount Zion Mennonite Church, near Versailles, and was a current member of the College Mennonite Church, Goshen.
Survivors include one sister, Esther Diener, Goshen.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Church, Versailles. The Rev. Joe Diener will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
SCOTT
Curtis E. "Scotty" Scott Jr., 55, Prairie Home, died May 14, 2000, in Prairie Home.
He was born June 24, 1944, in St. Louis, a son of Curtis E. Sr. and LaVerne Heidbrier Scott.
He was a cook for Johnny's Steakhouse for several years, before moving to Prairie Home. He ran the restaurant in Scotts Market, Prairie Home. A 1962 graduate of Prairie Home High School, he served in the Air Force. He worked for the California Police Department and was a dispatcher for Cole County. He also ran the Skelly Station in California and was a member of Lake Ozark Grotto.
Survivors include: two sons, Kendall A. Ketterlin, Columbia, and Kevin D. Ketterlin, Chicago; one daughter, Angela C. Scott, Eldon; one brother, Robert L. Scott, Prairie Home; one sister, Janet Legerski, Greybull, Wyo.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Lewis Odneal and Kendall A. Ketterlin will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near California.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

UPSCHULTE
Anna B. Upschulte, 87, Jefferson City, died May 15, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born July 13, 1912, in Russellville, a daughter of Charley J. and Elizabeth Dampf Hitz. She was married June 15, 1940, in Jefferson City, to Clarence "Bud" Upschulte, who died Nov. 21, 1986.
She attended schools in Glennonville. She worked for International Shoe and Oberman Manufacturing and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Ladies Sodality and Altar Society. She was a member of AARP.
Survivors include: one son, Dennis Upschulte, Jefferson City; three sisters, Rose Williams, Jefferson City, Angeline Gallivan, Hempstead, N.C., and Loraine Heinen, Sacramento, Calif.; and one brother, George Hitz, Jefferson City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. Erwin Konrad will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Marys Foundation Oncology Department.
BLEVENS
Betty J. Blevens, 75, Versailles, died May 14, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 26, 1924, in Cape Girardeau, a daughter of Thomas C. and Emma H. Hamilton Baker. She was married July 3, 1944, in Olathe, Kan., to Ivan J. Blevens, who died June 16, 1985.
She was a homemaker. She co-owned businesses in the Knobtown area of Kansas City from 1944 to 1959, when she moved to Gravois Mills. From 1960 to 1972, she co-owned and co-operated Ke-Jo Resort, Gravois Mills. She had lived in Versailles since 1972.
She was a former member of the Rolling Hills Country Club, Versailles.
Survivors include one son, Steven Blevens, Jefferson City, and one sister, Pat Featherstone LaBrant, Versailles.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Gary DeWitt will officiate. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
LaFRANCESCA
Madge LaFrancesca, 81, Osage Beach, died May 15, 2000, at her home.
She was born Feb. 17, 1919, in Benton, Ill., a daughter of Willis and Pauline Nally Hatchett. She was married Nov. 1, 1944, in Oahu, Hawaii, to Jasper LaFrancesca, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Ozark, and St. Frances Xavier Catholic Church, Fort Myers, Fla.
Other survivors include: one son, James LaFrancesca, Osage Beach; one brother, Charles Mandrell; one sister, Sue Rabbedy; and one granddaughter.
One son, John LaFrancesca, and her stepfather, Ray Mandrell, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Wilbers will officiate. Entombment will be in the Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
SNELLER
Nickolas W. Sneller, 78, Jefferson City, died May 16, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 10, 1922, in Otley, Iowa, a son of Gerrit and Kate Van Hemert Sneller. He was married Sept. 30, 1942, in Lancaster, to Marjorie M. Otten, who survives at the home.
He attended school in Pella, Iowa. He was an Army Air Corps veteran and served during World War II. He worked for Vermeer Manufacturing and Pella Corp., Pella, and the Salvation Army.
He was a member of First Church of God and the Salvation Army, and a past member of First Assembly of God.
Other survivors include: eight sons, Norman W. Sneller, Leighton, Iowa, Ronald D. Sneller, Pella, Roger E. Sneller, Robert R. Sneller, S. Paul Sneller and Kevin G. Sneller, all of Jefferson City, Stanley C. Sneller, Russellville, and Mark G. Sneller, Holts Summit; two daughters, Juanita L. Legreid, Holts Summit, and Judith L. White , Jefferson City; one brother, Gerrit Sneller Jr., Pella; three sisters, Elizabeth Rozenberg, Peternella Leydens and Carrie Breen, all of Pella; 34 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Three grandsons preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Church of God. The Rev. Gary Murrell will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
Memorials are suggested to First Church of God Building Fund, the St. Mary's Foundation or the Salvation Army.
VERNITTE
Frances Vernitte, 85, St. Louis, died May 14, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.
She was born Jan. 1, 1915, in St. Louis, a daughter of Nunzio and Santa Giardano Farace. She was married to James Vernitte, who preceded her in death.
An upholsterer, she was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in St. Louis for 65 years.
Survivors include: two sons, James John Vernitte, Sunrise Beach, and Gene Vernitte, Florissant; one daughter, JoAnn Williams, Collinsville, Ill.; two sisters; nine grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Cemetery Chapel, St. Louis. Burial will follow.
