SAPPINGTON

Thelma H. Sappington, 85, California, died June 3, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Aug. 26, 1914, in Moniteau County, a daughter of Thomas and PhilaBena Margaret Dolstein Hines. She was married Oct. 19, 1941, in McGirk, to Clarence R. Sappington, who died July 2, 1993.

A lifelong resident of Moniteau County, she graduated from Harlan School and from Aurora High School in 1932 as salutatorian. She graduated from Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg. She was a member of Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and Who's Who in Missouri Education.

She was a county welfare worker for Social Services in Moniteau County and taught in Russellville,  Jefferson City and several rural schools.

She was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church, McGirk, and an active officer of WPFA. She was a member of the Inspiration Club, Moniteau County Historical Society, Order of the Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, Daughters of the American Colonists, Retired Teachers Association and the Quilters.

She volunteered at California Elementary School and at the Historical Society.

Survivors include: one daughter, Clarice Nelson, California; two sons, Richard B. Sappington, Fresno, Calif., and Glenn D. Sappington, Columbia; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Lebanon Baptist Church, McGirk. The Rev. Frank Whitney and the Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, with an Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Old Lebanon Cemetery Association or the McGirk Community Building Association.

SCOTT

Ervin H. "Scotty" Scott, 85, Indianapolis, died June 2, 2000, at his Lake home.

He was born Oct. 27, 1914, in Indianapolis, a son of Floyd E. and Anna Mae Spradley Scott. He was married Oct. 27, 1939, in Indianapolis, to Mildred Vernice Louise Grow, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He worked for Ford Motor Co. for 25 years before retiring in 1969 as a district manager in St. Louis.

He was a member of the Pentalpha Masonic Lodge in Indianapolis.

Other survivors include: three sons, Ervin H. Scott Jr., St. Petersburg, Fla., Dan S. Scott, Santa Clara, Calif.; and James S. Scott, Newhall, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Singleton Funeral Home, Indianapolis. The Rev. Shan Rutherford will officiate. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery, Indianapolis.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon, and from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Singleton Funeral Home.

SUTTON

Charles Garvis Sutton, 85, Lebanon, died June 2, 2000, at Christian Health Care Center-North, Lebanon.

He was born April 17, 1915, in Coker, Ala., a son of Henry and Mary Lee Price Sutton. He was married Dec. 4, 1945, to Jessie Aline Burns, who survives at the home.

He served in the Army during World War II and worked for the Department of the Army as a civilian employee for 32 years.

Other survivors include: one son, Doug Sutton, Wardsville; two brothers, Leonard Sutton, Augusta, Ga., and Oliver Sutton, Northport, Ala.; and two grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Butler. Visitation will be today at Colonial Chapel, Lebanon.

Arrangements are under the direction of Underwood-Steinbeck Funeral Home, Butler.

WALTER

Emmett Herman Walter, 90,  Jefferson City, died June 2, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Aug. 22, 1909, in Cole County, a son of Ferdinand and Emma Haldiman Walter. He was married Aug. 20, 1942, in Cedar City, to Odasta Seidel, who survives at the home.

He was a farmer and a member of Carpenters Union 945 for 45 years. He also was a member of Calvary Baptist Church,  Jefferson City.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Gloria Jean Sieg,  Jefferson City; one brother, Lawrence Walter, Kansas City; two sisters, Minnie Beemer, St. Joseph, and Gladys Palmer, Stover; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m.today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

AUMANN

Laura M. Aumann, 89, Lake Ozark, died June 2, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 25, 1910, in St. Louis, a daughter of Arvel and Elizabeth Wickman Carlock. She was married in 1937 to Gus Aumann, who died in 1977.

She was a homemaker and a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Lake Ozark.

Survivors include one daughter, Jacqueline Schnebeli, Lake Ozark, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Monsignor Michael Wilbers will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday in Sunset Memorial Park, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

EDWARDS

James Ivy Edwards, 84, Tuscumbia, died June 4, 2000, at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia.

He was born May 28, 1916, in Miller County, a son of George and Mary Barnhart Edwards. He was married Aug. 2, 1946, in Lawrence, Kan., to Dorothy Marie Jenkins, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a farmer. He worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Missouri Department of Conservation and Anchor Milling Co., Tuscumbia, retiring in 1978.

He was a member of Mount Zion Christian Church, near Tuscumbia.

Other survivors include: one son, Roger Edwards, Tuscumbia; one daughter, Barbara Roddy, Columbia; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild.

His stepmother, Mabel L. Humphrey Edwards, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Charles Worstell will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Tuscumbia.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

HAMNER

Norma Hamner, 84, Lake Ozark, died May 25, 2000, at her home.

She was born May 30, 1915, in McFall, a daughter of Henry C. and Carrie Utz Jolly. She was married Sept. 2, 1939, to Dempsey Bonn Hamner, who survives at the home.

She was a member of Riverview Baptist Church, Osage Beach, and a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of bridge clubs in Chillicothe and Lake Ozark.

Other survivors include one son, Dempsey Hamner, Four Seasons, and one granddaughter.

Graveside services and inurnment will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Chillicothe.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

PHILLIPS

Services were today for Taylor Marie Phillips, infant daughter of Kenneth D. and Nicola Marie Kliethermes Phillips, Centertown, who was stillborn June 4, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

Her parents survive at the home.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Winston and Debby Kliethermes,  Jefferson City; paternal grandparents, William and Pam Phillips, Centertown; and maternal great-grandmother, Eva Kliethermes, Taos.

Private graveside services were in Resurrection Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

DelMOTTE

Amanda Gail Bartron DelMotte, 20, Eldon, died June 3, 2000, near Olean from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born Jan. 26, 1980, in Stuart, Fla., a daughter of Gregory A. and Kathryn R. Houston Bartron. Her parents survive in Eldon. She was formerly married to Mikey DelMotte, who survives in Camdenton.

A homemaker, she was a member of Camdenton Bible Baptist Church.

Survivors include: two sons, Michael DelMotte and Derek Callahan, both of the home; three brothers, Phillip Bartron, Jacob Bartron and Samuel Bartron, all of Eldon; one sister, Crystal Bartron, Camdenton; paternal grandparents, Larry and June Bartron, Linn Creek; maternal grandmother, Gail Black, Perry, Fla.; and her great-grandfather, Allen Bartron, Osage Beach.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Allee-Reed Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Martin Dunham will officiate. Burial will be in Big Niangua Cemetery, Roach.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to a trust established for her sons.

HAAR

Theodore J. "Bud" Haar III, 70, Holts Summit, died June 4, 2000, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born May 12, 1930, in  Jefferson City, a son of Theodore J. Jr. and Marguerite Ossman Haar. He was married Nov. 21, 1953, in  Jefferson City, to Kathryn Ellen Haley, who died March 4, 2000.

A 1948 graduate of St. Peter High School, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was part owner of Wallau & Schnieders until his retirement. He was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and currently was attending St. Andrew Catholic Church, Holts Summit.

Survivors include: one son, Gary Haar, Port Neches, Texas ; six daughters, Linda Osborn, Bethany, Patricia Wolf, Syracuse, N.Y., and Jackie Trippensee, Deborah Haar, Laura Kliethermes and Suzanne Haar, all of  Jefferson City; one brother, Frank Haar, Kansas City; one sister, Marge Schnieders,  Jefferson City; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home,  Jefferson City. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrews Catholic Church Building Fund or the American Cancer Society.
