ECKERT

Blanche Eckert, 85, Vienna, died June 22, 2000, at Maries Manor Health Center, Vienna.

She was born Nov. 11, 1914, near Dixon, a daughter of Elmer and Cora Johnson Bassett. She was married Nov. 14, 1933, in Vienna, to Robert Eckert, who died Jan. 9, 1984.

She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church,  Jefferson City, and attended First Baptist Church, Vienna.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday and from 9-10 a.m. Monday.

AMBROSE

Nellie Mae Ambrose, 96, Boonville, formerly of Jamestown, died June 22, 2000, at Ashley Manor Nursing Home, Boonville.

She was born June 3, 1904, in Lupus, a daughter of Porter and Emma Dietzel Brizendine. She was married in 1929 to Norman Ambrose, who died in 1984.

She was a homemaker and a member of the United Methodist Church in Jamestown.

Survivors include: three sons, Norman Ambrose Jr., Manny, La., Harold Ambrose, White River, S.D., and Edward Ambrose, New Bloomfield; three daughters, Wanda Lachner, Prairie Home, Reta Robinson, Lebo, Kan., and Pauline Chandler, Boonville; three sisters, Viola Borts, Lela Derby and Edna Smith, all of California; 19 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Billie Jo Stone, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Lewis Odneal will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boon-ville.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church in Jamestown or Prairie Home.

COCHRAN

Nancy Ann Cochran, 63, Gravois Mills, died June 23, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 23, 1936, in Beloit, Kan., a daughter of Duane and Margaret Annan Freeman. She was married Feb. 14, 1985, to William Mike Cochran, who survives at the home.

She was director of sales at Millstone and the Harbour Resorts, near Gravois Mills. She was active in the Clay County Democratic Club and helped form the St. Patrick's Day Parade on the Water, in which she served as grand marshal.

She was a member of West Lake Christian Church, Laurie.

Other survivors include: one son, Daniel Braile, Gravois Mills; two daughters, Linda Adams, Kansas City, and Pamela Harvalis, Falls City, Neb.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at West Lake Christian Church. The Rev. Jack Daniel will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

Memorials are suggested to the Praise Band at West Lake Christian Church.

DUFF

Thomas G. "Jerry" Duff, 74, Sunrise Beach, died June 23, 2000, at his home.

He was born June 7, 1926, in Michigan Valley, Kan., a son of James and Florence Shoemaker Duff. He was married June 14, 1952, to Barbara A. "Bobbie" Simon, who survives at the home.

He was a switchman for Missouri Pacific Railroad and a member of the U.T.U. He was a Navy veteran and a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie, and the Knights of Columbus.

Other survivors include: three sons, Tommy Duff, Las Vegas, Jimmy Duff, of the home, and David Duff, Independence; one brother, Patrick Duff, Reno, Nev.; and two grandchildren.

One son, Johnny Duff, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Rev. Fred J. Barnett will officiate. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Washington Cemetery, Independence.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

BECKER

James Everett Becker, 57,  Jefferson City, died June 23, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 17, 1942, in  Jefferson City, a son of Norbert J. and Martha Mary Prenger Becker. He was married July 13, 1968, in Prairie Village, Kan., to Cheryl Lynn Jones, who survives at the home.

He attended Immaculate Conception School and was a 1960 graduate of Helias High School and a 1965 graduate of the University of Kansas. He was a member of the University of Kansas Alumni Association and the University of Kansas K-Club.

He worked for BMA Insurance for six years and for American General Insurance for 31 years. He also was a commercial real estate developer for 20 years.

He was a chartered life underwriter-chartered financial consultant, a life and qualifying member of the Million Dollar Round Table and past president of the Missouri Association of Life Underwriters. He also belonged to the National Association of Life Underwriters and the American College of Life Underwriters.

He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, where he was past president of the parish council. He had served as chairman of the fund-raising committee for the parish gymnasium. He also was past fund-raising chairman for the Three Rivers Council of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a fourth-degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Other survivors include: three sons, Jason Everett Becker and James Ashley Becker, both of  Jefferson City, and Christopher Ryan Becker, Eugene; one brother, Donald Joseph Becker, Durham, N.C.; two sisters, Norberta Ann Beadles, Indianapolis, and Mary Martha Melia, Overland Park, Kan.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Dan Merz will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the James E. Becker Football and Wrestling Scholarship Fund for Helias High School, the National Brain Tumor Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.

BRESHEARS

Ruth Breshears, 79,  Jefferson City, died June 24, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born May 17, 1921, in Malta Bend, a daughter of Charles and Hannah L. Riggs Wagner. She was married July 3, 1940, in Higginsville, to William Keith Breshears, who died Sept. 10, 1979.

A 1939 graduate of Higginsville High School, she co-owned and operated Pope Drug Store for 11 years. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Women's Auxiliary, Circle 6 and Missionary Society.

Survivors include: two sons, William Charles Breshears, Orlando, Fla., and Steve Allen Breshears, Lake Ozark; one daughter, Sandra K. Branson,  Jefferson City; one brother, Paul Wagner, McAllen, Texas ; one sister, Laura Rasa, Higginsville; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund or the American Parkinson's Disease Association.

HUTCHISON

Mildred Hutchison, 84, Fortuna, died June 24, 2000, at Tipton Manor, Tipton.

She was born April 16, 1916, near Latham, a daughter of Charley and Belle Winebrenner Petree. She was married June 2, 1934, to Thomas Hutchison, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and a member of Fortuna United Methodist Church, the Fortuna Homemakers Club and the Fortuna Senior Citizens.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Shirley Kruse, Fortuna, and Peggy Gage and Sally Class, both of Tipton; three sisters, Beulah Bayne, Tipton, Virginia Paton, Fountain Valley, Calif., and Lois Charles, Independence; ix grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Two grandsons preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Joe Lightner will officiate. Burial will be in Green Grove Cemetery, near Latham.

No visitation will be held.

MUEGGE

Services were today for Jacquelyn Martin Muegge, 44, San Antonio, Texas , formerly of  Jefferson City, who died June 23, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 24, 1955, in St. Louis, a daughter of Ronald J. and Betty Jean Martin. Her father and stepmother, Ronald and Carol Martin, survive. Her stepfather, Harold Brown, survives. She was married to Frank Allan Muegge, who survives at the home.

A 1973 graduate of  Jefferson City High School, she attended the University of Missouri, where she received a bachelor's degree in music and a master's degree in logistics management. She was in civil service with the Air Force for 20 years until her retirement in 2000.

She worked at Kelly Air Force Base and Randolph Air Force Base. She also worked at the Pentagon in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Sarah Anne Muegge, of the home; one son, Scott Allan Muegge, of the home; two stepdaughters, Suzanne Muegge and Jennifer Muegge; and two sisters, Dara Brown Fowler and Lori Brown.

Services were held at Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio.

SCHIEFERDECKER

Dorothy Schieferdecker, 81, Shelbyville, died June 24, 2000, at Salt River Nursing Home, Shelbina.

She was born Jan. 11, 1919, in New Canton, Ill., a daughter of Rolla R. and Paulina Mae Kinder Goings. She was married Sept. 20, 1946, in Springfield, Ill., to Elmer A. Schieferdecker, who died Dec. 28, 1972.

She was a Methodist.

Survivors include: one son, Ron Schieferdecker, Holts Summit; one brother, Jim Goings, Shelbyville; one sister, Mildred Allensworth, Quincy, Ill.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Greening-Eagan-Hayes Funeral Home, Shelbyville. The Rev. Barbara Johnson Lovelace will officiate. Burial will be in Shelby Memorial Cemetery, Shelbyville.

Visitation will be from 9:30-11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Shelby County Health Department.

STRUTTON

Dennis Strutton, 73, Eldon, died June 24, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Iberia, a son of Bert and Redy Luttrel Strutton. He was married Oct. 27, 1973, in Reno, Nev., to Eula DeGraffenreid, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a carpenter.

Other survivors include: three sons, Dennis Wayne Strutton, Bentonville, Ark., David Strutton, Phoenix, Ariz., and Larry Kee, Grove, Okla.; two daughters, Debi Holmqvst, Woodland, Calif., and Wanda West, Susanville, Calif.; three sisters, Ruth Swartz, Roseville, Calif., Bonnie McKee, Meeker, Okla., and Deloris Shaw, Natchitoches, La.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter Simpson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
