TIPTON
Mildred "Sue" Tipton, 74, Kansas City, formerly of Jefferson City, died June 24, 2000, at Research Hospital.
She was born Oct. 24, 1925, in Jefferson City, a daughter of William F. and Eva Petry Sappenfield. She was married to William E. Tipton, who preceded her in death.
She attended the University of Missouri and was retired from the real estate development business in the Ozarks. She lived in Kansas City for 50 years and was also was a resident of Lake of the Ozarks.
She was an active volunteer and supported many civic organizations. She was past president of the Kansas City Musettes and served on the board of the Midwest Christian Counseling Center. She chaired the Outreach Program at Country Club United Methodist Church, Kansas City, and was a mentor for the Kansas City Public School District.
Survivors include: two sons, William E. Tipton II, Ventura, Calif., and Robb Tipton, Seabrook, Texas ; one daughter, Suzanne Tipton Brugliera, Atlanta; one sister, Jane Jones, Kansas City; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Country Club United Methodist Church, Kansas City. Private burial will be in Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
VAUGHAN
Oval C. "Toad" Vaughan, 90, Eldon, died June 25, 2000, at Eldon Healthcare.
He was born Nov. 27, 1909, in Tuscumbia, a son of Wilson and Desta Lee Dobson Vaughan. He was married Dec. 13, 1960, in Eldon, to Lela Mae Jones, who died Feb. 25, 1996.
He worked for Eldon Concrete Co. until his retirement in 1969. He was a member of Old Path Church, near Eldon.
Survivors include: three daughters, Esther Dinwiddie and Kathy Irwin, both of Eldon, and Carolyn Allen, Barnett; one son, Wayne Vaughan, Eldon; two stepdaughters, Ailene Bishop, Olean, and Jean Mingus, Eldon; one stepson, Cecil Keeth, Raymore; one brother, Harold Vaughan, Versailles; one sister, Dora Dean Musick, Eldon; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Two sons, Kenneth Vaughan and Jimmy Vaughan, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Danny Graham will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, near Barnett.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday.

SPAUNHORST
Edwin J. "Cray" Spaunhorst Jr., 76, Jefferson City, died June 25, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 12, 1924, in Jefferson City, a son of Edwin J. Sr. and Emma Louise Trippensee Spaunhorst. He was married Oct. 22, 1949, in Jefferson City, to Jeanne D. Doggett, who survives at the home.
A graduate of St. Peters High School, he attended Jefferson City Junior College.
He worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services for 44 years, retiring in 1986 as a procurement officer for data processing.
He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 2693.
Other survivors include: one son, Harry J. Spaunhorst, Jefferson City; one daughter, Sydney R. Burke, Lenexa, Kan.; three grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and one step great-grandchild.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Gregory Higley will officiate. Private entombment will be in the mausoleum of Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association.
BELT
Michael Nicholas Peck Belt, infant son of Gary J. Belt and Teresa A. Peck, Jefferson City, was stillborn June 27, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Dennis Belt, of the home, and Kevin Belt, Barnett; two sisters, Brenda Belt, of the home, and Linsey Belt, Barnett; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Brenda Belt, Jefferson City; maternal grandparents, Richard and Alberta Peck, Tipton, and John and Linda Reed, Sedalia; and maternal great-grandmother, Clara Smith, Tipton
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Hickory Hill Cemetery, Hickory Hill. The Rev. Shay Carpenter will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

WANKUM
Joseph Leo Wankum, 81, Aurelia, Iowa, died June 24, 2000, at Moore Foster Care, Rochester, Minn.
He was born Aug. 31, 1918, in St. Thomas, a son of William H. and Caroline Anna Groner Wankum. He was married July 18, 1942, in San Diego, to Mildred Margaret Distler, who survives at the home.
He was a self-employed mechanic in Iowa and then was a rural letter carrier in Aurelia until retirement. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee, Iowa. He was a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Cherokee, and a member of the Retired Rural Letter Carriers Association.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Mary Evelyn Karkut, Staunton, Ill., and Carol A. Robson and Paulette C. McMahon, both of Rochester; two sons, Gary J. Wankum, Lohman; and Richard W. Wankum, Oswego, Ill.; two sisters, Anne Wiseman, Kansas City, and Caroline Johnson, Clinton; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Martin Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin A. Schmidt will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

NOLT
Lois M. Nolt, 25, Fortuna, died June 25, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Aug. 2, 1974, in Versailles, a daughter of Rufus M. and Lizzie M. Martin Nolt. Her parents survive in Fortuna.
She was a member of Old Order Mennonite Church, Glensted.
Other survivors include: one brother, Peter Earl Nolt, Fortuna; 10 sisters, Ruth Nolt, Lucy Nolt, Sarah Nolt, Rosella Nolt, Lizzie Nolt, Marlene Nolt, Mary Ann Nolt, Louise Nolt, Pauline Dell Nolt and Carolyn June Nolt, all of Fortuna; and her paternal grandmother, Anna Nolt, Versailles.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Clearview Mennonite Church, Versailles. Raymond Stauffer, Harry Leinbach and Daniel Newswanger will officiate. Burial will be in Clearview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the family home near Fortuna.

MICHAELIS
Amilda Michaelis, 88, St. Louis, formerly of Jefferson City, died June 26, 2000, at Mary Queen & Mother Center, St. Louis.
She was born Nov. 2, 1911, in Miller County, a daughter of Phillip F. and Emma K. Mertens Butzer. She was married April 22, 1936, in Fulton, to Joseph J. Michaelis, who preceded her in death.
She attended St. Peters Church, St. Peters School and Jefferson City High School. She graduated from Eldon High School and worked as a priest's housekeeper. She had lived in Boonville.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith C. Michaelis Berry, Ballwin, one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Boonville. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. today at Thacher Funeral Home, Boonville, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
LUEHRS
Martha Elizabeth Luehrs, 75, Eldon, died June 25, 2000, in Osage Beach.
She was born Aug. 19, 1924, in Henrietta, a daughter of William H. and Bertha Elizabeth Warren Danner. She was married in 1941 to Clyde "Dude" Burnett. She was married Feb. 6, 1960, to Edward W. Luehrs, who died in 1979.
She was a homemaker.
She lived in Brumley for 30 years before moving to Eldon.
Survivors include: two daughters, Kay Bowers, Eldon, and JoAnn Hoffman, Wellington; two sisters, Francis Marshall, Knoxville, and Lillian Peek, Lawson; one brother, J.W. Danner, Bishop, Calif.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Higginsville City Cemetery. The Rev. Jim McGowin will officiate.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

HLAVACEK
Ruth Ione Eve Hlavacek, 80, Eldon, died June 25, 2000, in Columbia.
She was born Dec. 29, 1919, in Chicago, a daughter of August and Adele Salveson Jahn. She was married Nov. 1, 1941, in Chicago, to Richard Hlavacek, who died April 19, 1987.
She moved to Eldon from Chicago in 1947. She was a homemaker and a member of the Eldon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, June McVicker, Fortuna, and Jean Pearson, Russellville and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Eldon United Methodist Church. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
CRAVENS
Doris L. Cravens, 79, Jefferson City, died June 27, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born April 24, 1921, in Columbus, Ohio, a daughter of Robert R. and Ethel Hickok Schenk.
She was a Navy veteran of World War II and attended Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. A resident of the Jefferson City area since 1959, she was employed as bookkeeper with Carson-Coil Law Firm from 1975 until her retirement in 1993.
Survivors include: two sons, Sherman Cravens, Lynchburg, Va., and Todd Cravens, Savage, Minn.; and three grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the parish hall at Grace Episcopal Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Skilled Nursing Facility at Capital Region Medical Center.
