McCRORY

Lela McCrory, 83, Iberia, June 30, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Dec. 24, 1916, in Bagnell, a daughter of Wilbur and Annie Brineger Arnel. She was married April 7, 1936, in  Jefferson City, to Furrell O. McCrory, who survives in Richland.

She was a member of New Life Assembly of God Church, Barnett.

Other survivors include: two sons, Mike McCrory, Merrillville, Ind., and James McCrory, state of Arizona; two daughters, Barbara Endeman, Springfield, and Roberta Marriott, Eldon; one brother, Floyd Arnell, state of California; four sisters, Ruby Meseberg, state of Indiana, Ruth Nelson, state of Arkansas, Mable Haniford, state of Missouri, and Ada Darby, state of California; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Jeff Higbie will officiate. Burial will be in Tolwood Cemetery, Eldon.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

MEISENHEIMER

Barbara Meisenheimer, 54, Pilot Grove, died June 30, 2000, at her home.

She was born Sept. 2, 1945, in Mexico, a daughter of John R. and Mary Hane Duckworth. She was married May 8, 197, in Denver, to Edward Meisenheimer, who survives at the home.

She received a registered nurse certificate from Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., and worked at Cooper County Memorial Hospital in Boonville for 23 years.

She was a member of Pilot Grove Community Church and the Pilot Grove American Legion Auxiliary, which she served as treasurer.

Other survivors include: one son, Christopher Meisenheimer, Pilot Grove; two daughters, Jennifer Anderson, Columbia, and Stephanie Jackson, Boonville; two brothers, Michael Lee Duckworth, St. Petersburg, Fla., and Johnathan Duckworth, Fulton; two sisters, Nancy Collier and Suzanne Onyeneke, both of Columbia; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pilot Grove Community Church. The Rev. Perry Wolfe and the Rev. Farrie Cole will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Pilot Grove.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Meisenheimer Funeral Home, Pilot Grove.

Memorials are suggested to Renal Cancer Research, St. Paul's Cemetery or Blake Griffin Frevert in memory of Barbara Meisenheimer.

MUELLER

Hulda Anna Marie Mueller, 82,  Jefferson City, died June 30, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born June 10, 1918, in Lohman, a daughter of John F. and Anna Strobel Koestner. She was married June 26, 1945, in Loh-man, to Edwin G. Mueller, who died Sept. 29, 1968.

A homemaker, she worked for the Defense Plant in  Jefferson City during World War II. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Ladies Guild, the Faith Lutheran Braille Workers and the Faith Lutheran Altar Guild.

Survivors include: one son, Eddie Mueller, Holts Summit; one daughter, Lana Hawkinson, New Haven; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Alvin Lange will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church.

SCOTT

Shirrell "Scotty" Scott, 64, Kaiser, died July 1, 2000, at his home.

He was born April 10, 1936, in Melvin, Ill., a son of Orville W. and Julia Audrey Miner Scott. She was married Oct. 8, 1983, in Osage Bend, to Ann Bland, who survives at the home.

He worked for Granite City Steel and the civil service branch of the Air Force Communication Command. He also attended the Air Command and Staff College at the Air University, Maxwell AFB, Ala., to prepare government officials for higher command and staff positions.

Moving to Eldon, he owned and operated Gambles and Castlewood Construction, and was a salesman with Superior Home Products.

Other survivors include: two sons, Allen William Scott, Lake Ozark, and Gary Carl Scott, Sonoma, Calif.; three stepsons, Mike Denton, Stuart, Fla., and Gary Denton and Chris Denton, both of Lake Ozark; one stepdaughter, Cheryl Sawyer, Ulman; two sisters, Delores Taylor, Columbia, and Peggy Reece, Tipp City, Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday.

VAUGHAN

Jessie Vaughan, 82, Clarksburg, died July 1, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born March 28, 1918, in Clarksburg, a daughter of John Edward and Libbie Bell Harris Hayes. She was married Oct. 3, 1936, in California, to William Vaughan, who preceded her in death.

She worked for Weber Shoe Co., Tipton, and for Cargill, Inc., California. She was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church and attended Clarksburg High School.

Other survivors include: one son, Kenneth Vaughan, California; two daughters, Elaine Lymer, Boonville, and Gerry Clevenger, Topeka, Kan.; 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Darlene Hill.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Ivan Dameron and the Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, near California.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Moniteau Chapter, or the American Heart Association.

KIRCHNER

H. Kenneth Kirchner, 85,  Jefferson City, died July 1, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Oct. 16, 1914, near Otterville, a son of Roger E. and Lena Gochenour Kirchner. He was married May 29, 1938, in Boonville, to Blanche Casdorph, who survives at the home.

He attended public schools in Cooper and Morgan counties. He received an associate's degree from Southwest Baptist College; a bachelor's degree in education from Central Missouri State University; and a master's degree in school administration from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During his career he was a classroom teacher, a high school principal and an athletic coach.

He was superintendent of schools in Stover for six years and in 1948 he began working for the Missouri Department of Education. He later was appointed assistant commissioner of education, a position he held until his retirement in 1976. He then was executive secretary of the Jackson County School Administrators, and served 13 years on the board of trustees of the Missouri Public School Retirement System.

In 1977 he received the Distinguished Service Award from Central Missouri State University. He was honored as a Pioneer in Missouri Education, and in 1981 the H. Kenneth Kirchner State School for the Severely Handicapped was named for him.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Optimist Club, the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and the Masonic Lodge.

Other survivors include: three sisters, Mildred Brauer, Shelbina, Laura Brauer, Tipton, and Dorothy Smith, Houston, Texas ; and one brother, Wilbur Kirchner, Tipton.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark West will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or the H. Kenneth Kirchner State School for the Severely Handicapped.

ASH

Thomas K. Ash, 67, Versailles, died July 2, 2000, at Miller County Nursing Home, Tuscumbia.

He was born June 21, 1933, in Cincinnati, a son of Thomas A. and Mary Frances Kemper Ash.

He was a retired newspaper editor, and served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Survivors include: four daughters, Teresa Cordes, Sedalia, Michelle Sue Johns, Kansas City, Kan., Kimberly Eubank, San Jose, Calif., and Pamela Morris, El Paso, Texas ; one son, Aaron John Ash, San Jose; two sisters, Mary Dewers, Augusta, Ky., and Virginia Munroe, Atlanta; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at a later date at St. George Episcopal Church, Camdenton. The remains were cremated.

Memorials are suggested to St. George Episcopal Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

FARRIS

Betty Lou Blankenship Farris, 72,  Jefferson City, died July 2, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born May 22, 1928, in Miller County, a daughter of Ralph and Rosa Cooper Blankenship. She was married April 20, 1947, in Olathe, Kan., to the Rev. John Clifford Farris, who survives at the home.

She was employed at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Versailles, for more than 10 years. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: two sons, Larry Farris, Russellville, and Johnny Farris, Wichita, Kan.; one daughter, Ethelyn Garrison, Twenty Nine Palms, Calif.; three sisters, Treva Platter,  Jefferson City, Selma Barker, Eldon, and Eula Rose Wickham, Tollhouse, Calif.; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Russellville Baptist Church. The Rev. Guy Thomas, the Rev. C.D. Butler and the Rev. Thomas Ratcliff will officiate. Graveside services will be in Enloe Cemetery, near Russellville. The Rev. Randy Trumbo will officiate.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Foundation or Cornerstone Baptist Church Van Fund.

FORBIS

Mildred Forbis, 83, Ashland, died July 1, 2000, at Columbia Regional Hospital, Columbia.

She was born Nov. 23, 1916, in Ashland, a daughter of Robbie E. and Myra Bratton Forbis.

She was an elementary school teacher and worked for more than 40 years as a bookkeeper for the Missouri State Teachers Association. She was a member of the New Salem Baptist Church, Ashland, and she was also a member of the Ashland Order of the Eastern Star 309.

She is survived by nieces and nephews

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at New Salem Baptist Church, Ashland. The Rev. Paul Larimore will officiate. Burial will be at New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland.

Memorials are suggested to New Salem Cemetery.

HODGES

Ruth E. Hodges, 84, Tipton, died July 2, 2000, at Tipton Manor, Tipton.

She was born Dec. 20, 1915, in Clarksburg, a daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Diedrick Sappington. She was married April 21, 1933, in Clarksburg, to Freddie Lee Hodges, who died Feb. 7, 1980.

She was a homemaker, a member of Clarksburg United Methodist Church, and a 46-year member of California Chapter 521, Order of the Eastern Star. She attended Clarksburg High School.

Survivors include: one son, Henry "Bud" Hodges, Clarksburg; six daughters, Dora Asahl, Lois Embry and Debra Potter, all of Clarksburg, and Mary Schlup, Carolyn Hofstetter and Virginia Schmidt, all of Tipton; 26 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by one son, Donald Hodges, and one daughter, Elizabeth Kendrick.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, with the Rev. Carol Koenig officiating.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today with an Eastern Star Service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Sappington Cemetery, near Clarksburg, c/o Shirley Elliott, Village Green Shopping Center, California, Mo. 65018.
