ALVEY
Pat Alvey, 71, Jefferson City, died April 1, 1999, in Jefferson City.
He was born March 17, 1928, in Centralia, a son of Lawrence and Susie Dryden Alvey. He was married Dec. 31, 1949, in Moberly, to Rozella Mae "Billie" Beacom, who died May 21, 1979.
A former resident of Moberly, he was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, Holts Summit. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for the railroad until 1954. He also owned commercial rental property in Moberly and vending machine services. He sold those businesses to become an agent with the Missouri State Tax Commission from 1971 until his retirement in 1991.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Alvey, Jefferson City; one brother; one sister; and one grandson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Cater Funeral Home, Moberly. The Rev. William R. Watts will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.

SAAK
Sue Jean Saak, 48, California, died March 31, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Sept. 30, 1950, in California, a daughter of Perron and Sylvia Bond Goerge, who survive in Eldon. She was married Aug. 14, 1971, in Eldon, to Stephen R. Saak, who survives at the home.
She was a paralegal with Hawk and Associates Law Offices, Osage Beach, for 17 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, California, and was a youth director. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was a past PTA president and past chairman of the Junior Miss program. She worked with the Girl Scouts of America in the California area. She graduated from Eldon High School and the School of Paralegal Studies, Atlanta, Ga.
Other survivors include: one son, Robert J. Saak, Kansas City; and one daughter, Jeana E. Saak, of the home.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery near Olean.

SCHELL
Phyllis F. Schell, 97, Jefferson City, died March 31, 1999, at St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.
She was born Feb. 7, 1902, in Cherokee, Kan., a daughter of Lee and Brady Forney Farris. She was married Oct. 28, 1922, in Jefferson City, to Richard A. Schell, who died Sept. 18, 1994.
A 1918 graduate of Simonsen High School, she was a homemaker. She worked for the state veterinarian at the Missouri Department of Agriculture for 23 years. She was a secretary at the Missouri House of Representatives and worked at Schell Construction Co., where she was a full partner, until 1984.
She was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and the Jefferson City Country Club.
Survivors include one son, James Allen Schell, Jefferson City, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Resurrection Cemetery. Msgr. Charles Patterson will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum at the cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Buescher Memorial Home.
Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Home for the Aged or to a charity of the donor's choice.
CARVER
Stewart Carter, 86, Crocker, died April 2, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born July 14, 1912, in Crocker, a son of Willis and Minerva Wheeler Carver. He was married Sept. 11, 1945, in Denver, to Carrie Annie Longbine, who survives at the home.
He was employed by Benjamin Moore Paint Co. in Denver as a paint tinter for 33 years, retiring April 27, 1973. He was a member of the Benjamin Moore Co. Employees Organization.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Joan Arrandt, Portland, Ore.; two brothers, J. Emmett Carver, Salt Lake City, and Diz Carver, Crocker; and one granddaughter.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Antioch Cemetery near Crocker. Rick Smith will officiate.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker.
Memorials are suggested to the Antioch Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
LOETHEN
Larry Wade Loethen, 67, Eugene, died April 3, 1999, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born June 7, 1931, in Meta, a son of Martin and Addie Meltabarger Loethen. He was married Dec. 5, 1993, in Jefferson City, to Linda Bilyeu, who survives at the home.
He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War. He was employed by General Motors as an auto worker for 30 years and lived in Independence for 35 years before retirement in 1981.
Other survivors include: one son, Steven Loethen, Independence; one daughter, Durinda Edson, North Kansas City; one brother, Harold "Bud" Loethen, Meta; four sisters, Virginia "Ginger" Holmes, Overland Park, Kan., Betty Haidusek, Mary's Home, Alice Hake, St. Elizabeth, and Joyce Emmerich, Jefferson City; six grandchildren, five stepchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Chapel, Mary's Home. The Rev. Clarence Wiederholt will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of the Snows Cemetery, Mary's Home.
Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Monday, with prayer services at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
MARCH
William Joseph "Bill" March, 60, Columbia, died April 3, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center.
He was born Feb. 16, 1939, in Fulton, a son of John J. "Jack" and Opal M. "Sis" Tucker March. He was married April 20, 1957, in Kansas City, to Susie Knipmeyer, who survives at the home.
He served with the U.S. Army Reserves. He was employed as an iron worker with Local 396.
Other survivors include: two sons, Mike March and Jim March, both of Columbia; one daughter, Wendy Collier, Atlanta; two brothers, Fred March and Charlie March, both of Fulton; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fulton. The Rev. William Korte will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
MARTIN
Raymond N. Martin, 83, Jefferson City, died April 2, 1999, at his home.
He was born June 8, 1915, in Grand Island, Neb., a son of George and Efflie Yager Martin. He was married April 12, 1952, in Jefferson City, to Ruby Lee Ashlock, who survives at the home.
He worked in the funeral business at George Carson and Sons Funeral Home in Independence, before and after serving in the Army during World War II. He then graduated from radio school and came to Jefferson City to work for KWOS from 1949 to 1954. He then worked at KRCG from 1954 to his retirement in December 1981.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in St. Martins and was a retired member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 257.
Other survivors include: one son, David Martin, Jefferson City; two daughters, Linda Sue "Susie" Dunn, Jefferson City, and Brenda Lou Johnson, Overland Park, Kan.; one sister, Bernice Zieman, Albuquerque, N.M.; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. W.D. Lockhart will officiate.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
McENTIRE
Dorothy Katherine McEntire, 80, Jefferson City, died April 2, 1999, at her home.
She was born April 23, 1918, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Robert H. and Flora Ida Long Kretschmar. She was married March 7, 1936, in Linn, to Henry M. McEntire, who died March 6, 1962.
She attended schools in Brazito and Jefferson City. A homemaker, she also worked at the Governor Hotel in the housekeeping department. She was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: two grandchildren, Michael McEntire and Tammy McEntire, both of the state of California; and six great-grandchildren.
Two children, Robert Michael McEntire and Barbara Ann McEntire, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or to a charity of the donor's choice.
McCOY
Alva Lawrence McCoy, 80, Holts Summit, died April 2, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Paris, Texas , a son of Rada A. and Lucille Jennings McCoy. He was married Feb. 11, 1942, in Glendale, Calif., to Emma Hopwood, who survives at the home.
He was a graduate of Alhambra High School in Alhambra, Calif. He was a tool and die maker and computer programmer for several aircraft manufacturers. He enjoyed playing golf and playing classical music on the organ by ear.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Laura M. Carver, Holts Summit; two sons, Daniel L. McCoy, Columbia, and David T. McCoy, Seattle; two brothers, Lovan McCoy and Maurice M. McCoy, Rialto, Calif.; one sister, Mary R. Stone, Gardena, Calif.; and six grandchildren.
One son, Larry L. McCoy, died in 1985.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, Jefferson City. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
SCHEPPERS
James J. Scheppers, 58, Jefferson City, died April 1, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born July 10, 1940, in Jefferson City, a son of Joseph C. and Barbara S. Otto Scheppers.
He was a 1958 graduate of De LaSalle Military Academy in Kansas City. He was a resident of Pleasanton, Kan., from 1970 until moving to Jefferson City in 1982.
He was employed as a corrections officer with the Missouri Department of Corrections. He attended St. Stanislaus Church, Wardsville.
Survivors include: one son, Stephen M. Scheppers, Olathe, Kan.; two daughters, Jenny L. Reynolds, Pleasanton, and Lisa M. Peterson, Olathe, Kan.; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Freeman Chapel. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Church Cemetery, Mound City, Kan.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Monday.
