CONNELL
James Tolbert Connell, 92, Eldon, died July 29, 2000, in Jefferson City.
He was born Nov. 25, 1907, in Lohman, a son of Bradford and Sally Ann Scruggs Connell. He was married March 23, 1932, in Jefferson City, to Nina M. Dawson, who died March 26, 1994.
He was employed by the Missouri Pacific and Rock Island Railroad. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of First Baptist Church, Eldon.
Survivors include: seven sons, James LeRoy Connell, Eldon, Kenneth D. Connell, Clifton Park, N.Y., Edward M. Connell, Sturgis, Ky., Roger L. Connell, Jefferson City, Gary A. Connell, Lohman, Curtis T. Connell, Barnett, and Victor D. Connell, Eugene; two daughters, Betty Merli, Osage Beach, and Wanda Hartsock, Belleville, Kan.; one brother, Luther Connell, Eldon; three sisters, Sylvia Bates, Jefferson City, and Edna Graham and Artise Buster, both of Eldon; 28 grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch and the Rev. Bob Buster will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Eldon.
BUNCH
Mattie S. Bunch, 90, Jefferson City, died July 30, 2000, at her home.
She was born Oct. 23, 1909, in Jasper County, a daughter of Albert T. and Allie Elizabeth Williams Spurgeon. She was married Feb. 19, 1926, in Miller County, to John H. Bunch, who died Aug. 16, 1973.
She attended Pleasant Hill School in Cedar County and was a homemaker. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include: two sons, Martin L. Bunch, Jefferson City, and Donald D. Bunch, Simi Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Carolyn Danklef, Jefferson City; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
One son, John L. Bunch, died in 1990.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Thomas W. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or the Baptist Children's Home, St. Louis.
BASH
Richard D. Bash, 67, Jefferson City, died July 21, 2000, at his home.
Arrangements are incomplete at Freeman Mortuary.
WHITE
Evelyn Page Speckhals White , 71, Fulton, who died July 20, 2000, was preceded in death by four children including two sons, Cecil George Speckhals and Carl David Speckhals.
JONES
Marian Myrl Jones, 66, Jefferson City, died July 28, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 25, 1933, in Seymour, Iowa, a daughter of Eldon E. and Doris Merle Wooden Phillips. She was married Oct. 12, 1958, in Wichita, Kan., to Marvin Jones, who survives at the home.
She attended grade school in Seymour, Iowa, and Cherryvale, Kan. She was a 1951 graduate of Cherryvale High School and attended secretarial school. She was a secretary with Industrial Supply in Wichita, Kan., from 1952 to 1953; Household Finance in San Diego from 1953 to 1954; and with Westinghouse Electric Corp. from 1955 to 1958.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Other survivors include: two sons, M. Neal Jones, New York, N.Y., and Joel W. Jones, Flanders, N.J.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. today at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
MCILWAIN
James Ralph McIlwain, 78, Jefferson City, died July 28, 2000, at St. Marys Helath Center.
He was born May 29, 1922, in Okawville, Ill., a son of James G. and Anttoinette "Nettie" H. Prenger McIlwain. He was married July 4, 1942, in St. Louis, to Elizabeth Mary Wekenborg, who survives at the home.
He was a 1940 graduate of St. Peters High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad from 1946 to 1952 and the U.S. Postal Service from 1953 to 1980.
He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church and a life member of VFW Post 1003 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693.
Other survivors include: two sons, James M. McIlwain and Ralph E. McIlwain, both of Jefferson City; two daughters, Carol A. Schneider and E. Suzie Rackers, both of Jefferson City; and 11 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph Corel will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, with an Eagles service at 7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Helias Foundation or the St. Peters Catholic Church Building Fund.
DUNNAWAY
Leanna M. Dunnaway, 73, California, Mo., died July 28, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born April 6, 1927, in Fortuna, A daughter of Dennis G. and Sarah Margaret Fruchey Moser. She was married June 25, 1948, in Versailles, to J.L. "Jay" Dunnaway, who survives at the home.
A 1945 graduate of Versailles High School, she was a receptionist and bookkeeper for Dr. Lionel Gallagher in California for 18 years and drove a school bus for California R-1 Schools for 18 years. She was a member of California United Church of Christ.
Other survivors include: one son, Norris "Skip" Dunnaway, Jefferson City; two brothers, Lester Moser, Latham, and Halbert Moser, Roy, Wash.; two sisters, Margaret Chambers, California, and Lois Campbell, Versailles; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Patricia Kay Dunnaway and Judith Kristin McCann.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in the Masonic Cemetery, California.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

O'HALLORAN
Arminta O'Halloran, 92, Vienna, died July 31, 2000, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.
She was born Dec. 16, 1907, in Vienna, a daughter of Henry and Minnie McMinn Bade. She was married Nov. 14, 1923, in Vienna, to Raphael Paul O'Halloran, who died Nov. 3, 1985.
A homemaker, she was a member of Lambeth Assembly of God Church, near Vienna.
Survivors include: two daughters, Lorene Hutchison, Vienna, and Shirley Vaughan, Union; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
One son, Lawrence O'Halloran, and one daughter, Allene Hughes, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. Cellis A. Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Public Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and from 9-11 a.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
THOMSON
Edna Ann Thomson, 66, Higginsville, died July 29, 2000, at her home.
She was born Sept. 19, 1933, in Corning, Iowa, a daughter of Carl and Esther Thomas Pridgen. She was married July 3, 1955, to Roger Thomson, who survives at the home.
She was a 1951 graduate of Central High School and a graduate of University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Pharmacy. In 1955, she became a registered pharmacist and maintained a license in Missouri and California.
She worked in the Kansas City area and in Monterey, Calif. In 1998, she retired after 27 years of co-owning and co-operating Thomson Drugs and Mr. T's Gifts, Higginsville. She was active in the Missouri Pharmaceutical Association and the American Society of Consultant Pharmacists.
Other survivors include: one son, Chris Thomson, Novato, Calif.; one daughter, Sharon Stock, Jefferson City; two brothers, Donald Pridgen, Kansas City, and Dean Pridgen, Pocola, Okla.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church, Higginsville. The Rev. Steve Shearer and the Rev. Tom Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Higginsville City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hoefer Funeral Home, Higginsville.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Grace United Methodist Church or St. Luke's PEET Center, Kansas City.
WHITWORTH
Henry Clay "Jack" Whitworth Jr., 70, Hartsburg, died July 29, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born July 29, 1930, in Canton, Ill., a son of Henry C. and Brooxie Pearl Hunt Whitworth. He was married to Mary Evelyn Swearengen, who survives.
He was self-employed as an over-the-road truck driver. He was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Columbia.
Other survivors include: three sons, Matt Whitworth, Mark Whitworth and Luke Whitworth; two daughters, Yvonne Wilson and Diane Whitworth; three sisters, Judith Pierce, Donna West and Lois Ashlock; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. John Werst will officiate. Private burial will be at a later date.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
