GIBONEY

Mona Cooper Giboney, 88, Penrose, Colo., died July 29, 2000, at St. Thomas More Hospital, Penrose.

She was born Oct. 2, 1911, in Linn Creek, a daughter of Ray W. and Lou Henderson Libby. She was married to Kermit Paul Cooper, who died in 1964. She was married to Ernest Glenn Giboney, who died in 1998.

She lived in Penrose for the last two years.

She won the 1997 reserve grand champion at the 62nd annual Apple Pie Contest in Penrose.

Survivors include: one daughter, Melanie Prater, Penrose, Colo.; one son, Robert M. Cooper, Pueblo, Colo.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

One daughter, Marylynn Silcox, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in Big Niangua Cemetery, Roach.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

MCDONALD

Jim McDonald, 77, Marble Falls, Texas , died July 31, 2000, in Marble Falls.

He was born May 30, 1923, a son of Chancy and Myrtle McDonald. He was married April 13, 1946, in Topeka, Kan., to Betty Wray, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Kansas University and was a veteran of World War II.

He was vice president of finance for Texas City Oil Refinery.

He worked in the gas and oil industry for 50 years.

He was active in the United Way and Boy Scouts of America.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Linda Patton, Bryon, Texas ; two sons, Greg McDonald, Singapore, and Bruce McDonald, Albuquerque, N.M.; and six grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Mount Zion Cemetery, Tuscumbia. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Scott and White , Attn: Development Office, 2401 South 31st St., Temple, Texas , 76508.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

MILLER

Gene Franklin Miller, 70, St. Augustine, Fla., died July 18, 2000, at Flagler Hospital, St. Augustine.

He was born Aug. 25, 1929, in Columbia, a son of Clarence and Elsie McBain Miller. He was married to Jonalee Chorlton, who survives at the home.

An Air Force veteran of the Korean War, he received a doctorate from the University of Missouri in 1973.

He was an agricultural economist with the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington , D.C., until his retirement.

He had been a resident of St. Augustine since 1971.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Jona Jene Miller, Sarasota, Fla.; one son, John Franklin Miller, Mankato, Minn.; and two brothers, Robert S. Miller,  Jefferson City, and Raymond E. Miller, St. Augustine.

Services will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Craig Funeral Home, St. Augustine.

TIMMONS

Edith A. Hurley Timmons, 91, Danvers, Mass., formerly of  Jefferson City, died Aug. 2, 2000, at Beverly Hospital, Beverly, Mass.

She was born March 12, 1909, in Moberly, a daughter of John A. and Edith Elizabeth Richardson Hurley. She was married in 1932, in Moberly, to Howard Timmons, who died Oct. 10, 1994.

She was a 1927 graduate of Lincoln High School, Moberly.

She was a member of Second Baptist Church, where she served on the usher board.

She was a member of the Estella Branham Diggs Circle of the Women's Missionary Union.

Survivors include: one son, Richard Lee Timmons, Danvers; one sister, Wilma Bey, Milwaukee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

One son, Howard Timmons Jr., and one daughter, Rhoda Ann Timmons, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Cornell Sudduth will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Oakland Cemetery, Moberly.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

VANDERSLICE

Retha Marilyn Vanderslice, 69,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 2, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Nov. 30, 1930, in St. Paul, Ark., a daughter of Kelly and Bertie Caroline Brashears Cornett. She was married April 5, 1953, in Fayetteville, Ark., to Warren Donald Vanderslice, who died Dec. 12, 1998.

She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and a 1952 graduate of the University of Arkansas. A homemaker, she was a substitute art teacher in  Jefferson City schools.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and a sixth-grade Sunday school teacher. She was past president of United Methodist Women and the Dianna Service Guild.

She was a former Cub Scout leader and Girl Scout leader.

Survivors include: two daughters, Reng Kelly Winters, Columbia, and Kimberly Lyn Vanderslice,  Jefferson City; one son, Dr. Warren Eric Vanderslice, Fullerton, Calif.; one sister, Salona Wachs, Aberdeen, S.D.; and four grandchildren.

One son, Dr. Marc Donald Vanderslice, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Dorothy L. Lairmore will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Brashears Cemetery, St. Paul.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church or St. Marys Health Center Oncology Department.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

MERTENS

Catherine E. Mertens, 87,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 2, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

Arrangements are incomplete at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

CHAMBERLAIN

The Rev. William H. "Bill" Chamberlain, 73, St. Elizabeth, died Aug. 3, 2000, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born Oct. 11, 1926, in Osawatomie, Kan., a son of William and Edith Wright Chamberlain. He was married Nov. 3, 1945, in Endicott, N.Y., to Mildred Ray, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy and Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.

He was pastor of St. Elizabeth First Baptist Church. He had been pastor at Baptist churches in Rolla, Waynesville, Dearborn and Hartselle, Ala.

He was a former deputy sheriff and undersheriff in Miami County, Kan., and a former police officer in Paola, Kan., and Osawatomie.

He also drove a truck for Farmland Industries, Kansas City, and Frito-Lay, Topeka, Kan.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Anne Tollett, Manford, Okla., Betty Bennett, Edgerton, Kan., and Carol Joyce Buckley, Kansas City; one son, James Chamberlain, El Dorado, Kan.; one sister, Sylva Scott, Osawatomie; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

One son, William Chamberlain Jr., and one daughter, Wilma Chamberlain, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dee Speer and the Rev. William Wilkerson will officiate.

Visitation will be from 1:30-3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Services also will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Wilson and Son Funeral Home, Paola. Burial, with military honors, will be in Elm Grove Cemetery, Cadmus, Kan.

Visitation also will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the William Chamberlain Memorial Fund.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth.

KOERKENMEIER

Marian Helen Koerkenmeier, 77, Tipton, died Aug. 3, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born June 7, 1923, in Tipton, a daughter of Joseph and Blanche Fischer Dueber. She was married Oct. 16, 1947, in Tipton, to Elmer G. Koerkenmeier, who survives at the home.

She was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone, Sedalia, for 11 years. She was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Tipton, the Altar Sodality, Knights of Columbus Auxiliary and the Ladies Quilting Group of the church.

She was a volunteer at St. Andrew's School, the 4-H and the Red Cross of Tipton.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Julie Wolfe, Branson, Bonnie Hodler, St. Louis, and Lucy Koerkenmeier, Kansas City; one son, Dion Koerkenmeier, Tipton; one brother, Fred Dueber, LaMesa, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrews Catholic Church. The Rev. Ed Schmidt will officiate. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Andrews Church Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the church, with an Altar Sodality rosary at 4 p.m. and a parish rosary at 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Andrews Catholic Church, St. Andrew's School or Price James Library, Tipton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Conn Funeral Home, Tipton.
