HARRIS
Phillip W. Harris, 52, Columbia, died Aug. 9, 2000.
He was born Sept. 17, 1947, in Staunton, Va.
He graduated from Lee High School and was an Air Force veteran. He graduated from Central Missouri State University with a master's degree in psychology. He earned a doctorate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He worked as a psychologist for Fulton State Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1999. He also maintained a private practice in Fulton and Columbia.
He is survived by one brother, Jerry Harris, Staunton.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Unity Center of Columbia.
Memorials are suggested to any peace, amnesty or animal rights causes.
SMITH
Shawn Michael Smith, 26, Jefferson City, died Aug. 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 23, 1973, in St. Joseph, a son of Harry E. and Joyce Gail Kramer Smith. His father survives in Jefferson City. His mother, Joyce Fischer, also survives in Jefferson City. He was married Aug. 13, 1995, in Jefferson City, to Helen Mary Elizabeth McKinzie, who survives at the home.
Other survivors include two brothers, Albert Phillip Fischer and Frederick Christian Fischer, both of Jefferson City.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Riverview Cemetery. The Rev. Bud Nichols will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to the Shawn Smith Memorial Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
IRICK
Beulah Mae Irick, 87, Liberty, died Aug. 18, 2000, at Liberty Terrace Care Center.
She was born Aug. 27, 1912, in Nettleton, Ark., a daughter of Andrew W. and Annie Mae Roles Needham. She was married April 30, 1931, in St. Louis, to Harry Kenneth Irick, who died Nov. 23, 1986.
A member of First Baptist Church in Fulton, she was retired from the Department of Revenue in Jefferson City.
Survivors include: two daughters, Colleen M. Wallace, Victorville, Calif., and Barbara I. Small, Liberty; one son, Kenneth Irick, Shawnee, Kan.; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Stephen Sowder will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, in memory of her granddaughter, Kimberly Ann Wallace.
LEHMAN
Elizabeth M. Lehman, 85, Osage Bend, died Aug. 16, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
Arrangements are incomplete at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
RIDENHOUR
Marjorie G. Ridenhour, 76, Jefferson City, died Aug. 17, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born July 24, 1924, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Albert C. and Flora F. Maples Ridenhour.
She attended public schools in Jefferson City.
She worked for 26 years at Tweedie's Shoe Factory and four years with the state's Division of Motor Vehicles.
She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Riverview Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
BARROW
Charles R. Barrow, 61, Sunrise Beach, died Aug. 17, 2000, at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1938, in Kansas City, a son of Harry R. and Georgia Tucker Barrow. His mother survives in Independence. He was married Feb. 14, 1987, to Dianne Doty, who survives at the home.
He served in the Air Force and the National Guard and owned the Hole In One Doughnut Shop in Sunrise Beach.
He was a member of Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie; Zack Wheat American Legion Post 264, Sunrise Beach; and the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Other survivors include: two sons, David Barrow, Independence, and Charles Barrow Jr., Blue Springs; one daughter, April Buddemeyer, Linn; one stepdaughter, Lisa Zeman, Oshkosh, Wis.; one brother, Douglas Barrow, Kansas City, Kan.; five grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Chad Barrow and Cole Barrow.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. James Lawley will officiate. His remains will be cremated, with entombment at a later date in Garber Memorial Estates Columbarium, Laurie.
Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice, Ellis Fischel Cancer Center or Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.
SUESS
Services were today for Harry William Suess, 74, Chamois, who died Aug. 19, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in Chamois, a son of Edward and Eda Charlotte Benne Suess. He was married Oct. 11, 1947, in Chamois, to Cathleen Giesing, who survives at the home.
He attended Deer Creek School and was a farmer and truck driver. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Chamois. He served on the board of directors at United Bank of Chamois and was on the Deer Creek Cemetery Board.
Other survivors include: three sons, Daniel Suess, Linn, Douglas Suess, McKinney, Texas , and Ted Suess, Bonnots Mill; one sister, Ruth Gentile, Kirkwood; and seven grandchildren.
Services were at St. John United Church of Christ. The Rev. Deborah Pope officiated. Burial was in Deer Creek Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to St. John United Church of Christ or the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements were under the direction of Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois.
CONNER
Clarence Conner, 80, Iberia, died Aug. 19, 2000, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth.
He was born July 5, 1920, in Iberia, a son of William and Sadie Ponder Conner.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and former commander and life member of Iberia VFW Post 6167. He was a farmer.
Survivors include: two sisters, Jenny Duncan, Iberia, and Faye Dieckmann, Florissant.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Glen Golden will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Iberia Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to Iberia VFW Post 6167.
GILBERT
David Becker Gilbert, 46, Chamois, died Aug. 20, 2000, in Chamois.
He was born July 3, 1954, in Jacksonville, Fla., a son of Charles B. Sr. and Lorraine R. Gilbert. His father survives in Climax Springs. His mother survives in Chamois. He was married Sept. 16, 1977, in Belle, to Katherine D. Warren Carter, who survives at the home.
A 1972 graduate of Chamois High School, he was a Marine Corps veteran. He was an operating engineer at Central Electric Power Co-op, Chamois, for the past 10 years.
He was an alderman serving Ward 1, Chamois, and a member of the Union of Operating Engineers, Local 2.
Other survivors include: two sons, Robert E. Carter and Andrew P. Warren, both of Chamois; two daughters, Dana S. Desmond, Chamois, and Jessica J. Gilbert, of the home; two brothers, Charles B. Gilbert Jr. and Frank M. Gilbert, both of Chamois; five sisters, Lynn B. Thuli and Lorraine Wright, both of Chamois, Jennifer Whelehon, St. Louis, Wendy Wolfe, Linn, and Holly Robinson, Camdenton; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Chamois. The Rev. Dwight W. Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Chamois City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
