WOODCOCK

Cecil Arnold Woodcock, 77, Edwards, died Aug. 19, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Sullivan, a son of Thomas I. and Maud Alice Nettell Woodcock. He was married April 18, 1975, in Edwards, to Beulah A. Babler, who died May 7, 1996.

A graduate of Sullivan High School, he served in the C.C.C. Camp. He then moved to the state of Ohio, where he was employed as a foreman for Davey Tree Co. After his retirement, he moved to the Lake of the Ozarks area.

He was a Baptist.

Survivors include: one son, Michael Woodcock, Independence; one daughter, Melody McCarthy, San Diego, Calif.; two stepsons, Wayne Babler, Warsaw, and Billy Babler, Kearney; one stepdaughter, Joann Fuller, Raytown; one brother, Donald G. Woodcock, Sullivan; one sister, Donna Jean Lindaman, Sullivan; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Donald G. Woodcock will officiate. Burial will be in Climax Springs Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday.

ANSELMO

Services were Monday for Clydine Anselmo, 78, St. Louis, who died Aug. 18, 2000, at De Paul Hospital, St. Louis.

She was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Vandalia, a daughter of Columbus L. and Rebekah E. Mitchell Thompson. She was married Nov. 21, 1941, to Peter Vincent Anselmo, who survives at the home.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Delores Anselmo and Rebecca Anselmo, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Elizabeth Thompson Miller and Kathleen Thompson, both of  Jefferson City; two brothers, Robert W. Thompson,  Jefferson City, and Lee Thompson, Springfield; and three grandchildren.

Two daughters, Geraldine Anselmo and Lilly Ann Anselmo Webb, preceded her in death.

Services were at Hutchens Mortuary, Florissant. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Florissant.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

FAKEN

William Eugene Faken, 74,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 21, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Dec. 30, 1925, in Red Rock, Okla., a son of William and Nellie Bishop Faken. He was married Dec. 15, 1949, in Ponca City, Okla., to Betty Weber, who survives at the home.

He was a 1948 graduate of Ponca City High School and an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed in research and development at Continental Oil Co. for 20 years. From 1963 to 1968, he worked in pollution control for the city of Albuquerque, N.M.

He was an enforcement inspector at the Missouri Department of Natural Resources from 1968 until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Memorial Baptist Church and a charter member of the Ponca City Elks Club.

Other survivors include: one son, Brad Faken,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Roxanne Steinmetz and Cathy Burks, both of  Jefferson City; two sisters, Bettie Fox, Ponca City, and Phyllis Wentworth, state of Missouri; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association or the Ronald McDonald House.

SCHWARTZ

Joseph Schwartz, 96, Freeburg, died Aug. 20, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Sept. 9, 1903, in Folk, a son of Frank and Elizabeth Evers Schwartz. He was married June 7, 1939, in Freeburg, to Antonia Holterman, who died Feb. 28, 1997. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Freeburg, and farmed all his working life.

Survivors include: two sons, Richard Schwartz and Danny Schwartz, both of Freeburg; three daughters, Darlene Falter, Freeburg, Betty Ann Luebbering, St. Thomas, and Arline Lehmen, Osage Bend; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today and 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with a vigil service at 7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to spiritual offerings to be applied for Masses, or to the Holy Family Church and School Memorial Fund.

SMITH

Stephen C. "Snuffy" Smith, 44, Linn, died Aug. 19, 2000, in Osage County.

He was born Dec. 9, 1955, in  Jefferson City, a son of Claborn and Grace "Ollien" Kloeppel Smith. His mother survives. He was married July 5, 1980, in Linn, to Bonnie Sallin, who survives in Linn.

He was a member of First Baptist Church, Linn, and Laborers Local 662. He was employed at Hatfield Timber Products, Linn.

Other survivors include: two sons, John W. Smith, Washington , and Matthew L. Smith, Linn; five sisters, Sandra Atkinson and Brenda Keeling, both of  Jefferson City; Sonda Atchison, St. Charles, Carol Sederburg, West Plains, and Pamela Roddy, Columbia; and maternal grandmother, Dora Kloeppel, Linn.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, Linn. The Rev. David Krueger will officiate. Burial will be in Lane Cemetery, Osage County.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, and 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the John and Matt Smith Scholarship Fund.

CLARK

David D. Clark, 57, Centertown, died Aug. 21, 2000, at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at Freeman Mortuary.

DOWNEY

Thomas Joseph Downey, 76,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 22, 2000, in Washington , D.C.

He was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Stewartsville, a son of William and Margaret Kenney Downey. He was married July 1, 1950, in Washington , D.C., to Theresa Boyle, who survives at the home.

He received a bachelor's degree from St. Benedict's College, Atchison, Kan., and a law degree from Georgetown University Law School, Washington , D.C. He practiced law for more than 50 years. He practiced for five years in Plattsburg, where he was appointed assistant general counsel with the Public Service Commission.

After working as an assistant attorney general for Thomas Eagleton, he opened a private practice in  Jefferson City. He was general counsel for the Missouri Railroad Association from 1970 until his retirement in 1988.

He was appointed by Gov. Mel Carnahan to the Board of the Missouri Family Trust two times, and was a 50-year member of the Missouri Bar Association and the American Bar Association. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and served in the Air Force Reserve.

He was a past member and former commander of the Plattsburg VFW, and a past member of the Plattsburg American Legion. He was a member of the P-47 Thunderbolt Association, World War II Fighter Pilots, St. Joseph Cathedral, Knights and Ladies of the Holy Sepulcher, Helias Council of the Knights of Columbus, the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and the Fellowship of Catholic Scholars. He also was a member of Honor Guard of Fourth Degree and Legion of Mary.

Other survivors include: three sons, Michael Downey,  Jefferson City, and Daniel Downey and Justin Downey, both of St. Louis; five daughters, Keily Levy, Washington , D.C., Peggy Downey, Tulsa, Okla., Roseanne Shepard, Glenwood Springs, Colo., and Eileen Downey and Patricia Downey, both of Higginsville; three brothers, the Rev. James Downey, OSB, Chicago, James D. Downey, Kansas City, and Patrick L. Downey, Minneapolis; three sisters, Sister Therese Downey, Houston, Texas , Joan Schultz, St. Joseph, and Margaret Ann Koechner, Tipton; and seven grandchildren.

Three sons, Tommy Downey, Eddie Downey and John Downey, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Cathedral. Bishop Michael McAuliffe will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Sheltered Workshop, Special Olympics or Higginsville Parents Association.

JONES

Marjorie Lou Jones, 65, Camdenton, died Aug. 22, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Oct. 18, 1934, in Ha Ha Tonka, a daughter of John K. and Lora Lee Moore Bell. She was married Sept. 24, 1951, to Melborne Gerald Jones, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of the Camdenton area, she was employed at Blair Cedar and Novelty Co. She was a member of the Garrison Family Association, and did volunteer work for Mount Horeb and Myetta cemeteries.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Lana Jo Upton, Lake Ozark, and Mary Ellen Weant, Lincoln; one son, Tommy Joe Jones, Hartville; two sisters, Theda Hunter, Blue Springs, and Trilby Looney, Linn Creek; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Paul Burns will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

BILLINGSLEY

Josephus J. Billingsley, 37, Keene, Texas , formerly of California, died Oct. 5, 1999, in Fort Worth.

He was born July 17, 1962, in Trenton, a son of Josephus and Kathryn Purnell Fisher Billingsley. His father and stepmother, Josephus and Cheryl Billingsley, survive in Tipton. His mother and stepfather, Kathryn and Larry Gish, survive in  Jefferson City.

He attended  Jefferson City High School and was a member of First Baptist Church in  Jefferson City. He was a construction worker.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Celena Billingsley, Brazito; one brother, Timothy Billingsley, Kansas City; one sister, Letha V. Gardner, New Bloomfield; two half sisters, Mindy B. Billingsley and Nettie Marie Perry, both of California; three stepsisters, Kristy Gillpatrick and Shelly Davenport, both of Tipton, and Valarie Robertson, California; and paternal grandmother Letha Billingsley, California.

Services will be at 4:30 p.m. Monday at  Jefferson City Baptist Church. The Rev. Jay Morris will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Hickman Cemetery, Clarksburg.

Memorials are suggested to the Josephus Billingsley Memorial Fund, c/o  Jefferson City Baptist Church, RR 5,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.
