HARRIS

Renelda Alice Harris, 75, Fulton, died Aug. 24, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born June 24, 1924, in Osage County, a daughter of Morroe S. and Louella Willerbrink Townley. She was married Oct. 19, 1946, in Mexico, to Irvin L. Harris, who died March 31, 1986.

She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Fulton, and the Ladies Altar Society. She did the church linen for 46 years.

Survivors include: one daughter, Cathy Harris, Fulton; one son, James Perry, Hannibal; two sisters, Verda Townley and Carleen Frey; one brother, Randal McKnight; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

One daughter, Connie Peery, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. The Rev. William Korte and the Rev. Shannon Collins will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter's Catholic Church.

HUFFERD

Laura E. Hufferd, 87, Roach, died Aug. 23, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born July 29, 1913, in Admire, Kan., a daughter of Harry L. and Lucille Putnam Spencer. She was married in Kansas City, Kan., to Eugene Raymond Hufferd, who died April 13, 1972.

She owned and operated Prairie Hollow Camp, Roach, for 53 years.

Survivors include one son, James Hufferd, Macks Creek, four grandsons and five great-grandchildren.

One son, Richard Hufferd, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek.

JACKSON

Dr. Vernon Bland Jackson, 75, Fulton, died Aug. 22, 2000.

He was born May 22, 1925, in Bradley, Ark., a son of William L. and Dovie Bland Jackson. He was married in 1958 to Arlene Marie Prastka, who survives in Fulton.

A 1943 graduate of Bradley High School, he graduated from Centenary College in Shreveport, La., in 1947. He received a medical degree from Tulane University in 1951. He served as a staff officer surgeon with the United States Merchant Marines. He moved to Fulton in 1958 and became an ophthalmologist at the Fulton State Hospital, retiring in 1987. He continued to maintain a part-time private practice after retiring.

He was involved in the Fulton band program, the Missouri Symphony Society, the hospice program, the Lion's Club eye program and the Republican Central Committee. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Kappa scholastic fraternity.

He also is survived by one son, Bil Jackson, and three grandchildren.

His body was donated to science. A memorial service will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to hospice or the Lions Eye Bank.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

JAMES

Margie Edith James, 77, Greencastle, Ind., died Aug. 23, 2000, at Waters Nursing Home, Greencastle.

She was born Aug. 20, 1923, in Elwood, Ind., a daughter of Ralph S. and Sadie M. Baden VanHorn.

She was a homemaker and an honorary member of Boys Town.

Survivors include one son, the Rev. Gerald E. Baysinger, Holts Summit, and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Elwood City Cemetery. The remains were cremated.

Arrangements are under the direction of Copher and Fesler Funeral Home, Elwood.

McCONNELL

Cecil Boyd "Swede" McConnell Jr., 73, Camdenton, died Aug. 23, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 12, 1926, in Bussey, Iowa, a son of Cecil B. Sr. and Margaret Susanne Houser McConnell. He was married June 14, 1980, to Kay Karen Fagen, who survives at the home.

He attended high school in Iowa and earned his bachelor's degree from Coe College, Cedar Rapids. He was an Army Air Corps veteran and worked as a meat salesman for the Krey-Morrell Company. He had lived in Columbia and moved to Camdenton in 1982.

He was a member of Kent Memorial Lutheran Church, Camdenton, and was an American Legion member for more than 50 years.

Other survivors include: two stepdaughters, Cherie Keen, Columbia, and Cheryl Reed, O'Fallon, Illinois; one stepson, Jim Hayes, Las Vegas; and four step grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Kent Memorial Lutheran Church. Pastor John Davis will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

REGOT

Thomas Lee Regot, 61, St. Peters, died Aug. 24, 2000, at his home in Brumley.

He was born Sept. 27, 1938, in St. Charles, a son of Jack and Pauline Fulkerson Regot. He was married June 2, 1962, in St. Charles, to Janet Cobbs, who survives at the home.

He was a teacher, a coach and activities director for the middle school in Florisant. He was a member of the Eagles and he was a Methodist.

Other survivors include: one son, Barr Regot; one daughter, Janee Brennecke; one brother, Dennis Holt; one sister, Jacqueline Orgelheide; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Baue Funeral Home, St. Charles.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-3p.m. Saturday.

Local arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

ROGERS

Mable Rogers, 88, Linn Creek, died Aug. 24, 2000, at Lake Regional Health Center, Osage Beach.

She was born Sept. 29, 1911, in Ira, a daughter of Thomas and Ethel Allen Moore. She was married Sept. 29, 1928, to William Rogers, who died Aug. 7, 1994.

A residnet of Davenport, Iowa, for 23 years, she moved to Camdenton in 1973.

Survivors include: three sisters, Jehovah Cantrell, Lebanon, Betty Burns, state of Florida, and Lucy Wells, LeClair, Iowa; one brother, Tom Moore Jr., Eldridge; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

One son, Johnny Mac Rogers, and one daughter, Stella Mae Shadrick, preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dean Rooffener will officiate. Burial will be in Ira Cemetery.

No visitation is scheduled, but friends may call after 2 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Lamb House.

HOECKER

Leander "Pete" Hoecker, 66, St. Thomas, died Aug. 24, 2000, at his home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1934, in St. Thomas, a son of Herman and Gertrude Luebbering Hoecker. He was married Sept. 21, 1974, in St. Thomas, to Betty Jean Carrender Mueller, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran, he was a dairy farmer and worked at Patio Chef in Meta. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in St. Thomas.

Other survivors include: one son, Joseph Lee Hoecker, of the home; one daughter, Jennifer Hoecker Borgmeyer, St. Thomas; three stepsons, Wilford Mueller, St. Thomas, Ronnie Mueller, Eldon, and Donnie Mueller, Barnett; three stepdaughters, Tammy Kempker and Pam Schulte, both of Henley, and Cathy Mueller,  Jefferson City; one brother, Sylvanus Hoecker, St. Thomas; 22 step grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Antweiler will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the St. Thomas Knights of Columbus Hall, with a wake service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Meta.

HAZELL

Audrey M. Hazell, 84, Ashland, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Boone Retirement Center.

She was born June 13, 1916, in Hartsburg, a daughter of Ellis B. and Zula Sapp Nichols. She was married Dec. 24, 1936, in Ashland, to Durwood Hazell, who survives.

She was a member of Goshen Primitive Baptist Church and the Ashland Senior Center. She worked for Hamilton Brown Shoe Factory.

Other survivors include: one son, Lloyd Hazell, New Franklin; three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Everett Hazell.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Elder Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery, Ashland.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Ashland Senior Center.
