ZIMMER

George William Zimmer, 77, Steedman, died Aug. 24, 2000, at his home.

He was born Feb. 17, 1922, in St. Louis, a son of Lee and Elizabeth Meyer Zimmer. He was married in 1947 in St. Charles to Henrietta Lehnfoff, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he worked as an electrician at the AmerenUE power plant.

He also is survived by one son, Frank Zimmer, Harvester, and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Steedman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.

CARRENDER

Clyde E. Carrender, 95, Tuscumbia, died Aug. 24, 2000, at Miller County Care Center.

He was born June 28, 1905, in Cole County, a son of Daniel C. and Nancy E. Thorpe Carrender. He was married July 15, 1927, in Tuscumbia, to Eulah Byrd, who died July 23, 1984. He was married June 11, 1986, to Brooksie Cox, who died Nov. 17, 1995.

He was a carpenter, painter and farmer.

Survivors include: two daughters, Betty Kehr, Eldon, and Rosemary Pendleton, Tuscumbia; one sister, Pearl Enloe, Eldon; two stepdaughters, Charlene Mohn, Raytown, and Naomie Dieterie, Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Richard B. Carrender, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Tom Farrington will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to the Ninth Street Christian Church Building Fund or the Miller County Care Center.

JACKSON

Dorsey B. "Shorty" Jackson, 90, California, died Aug. 24, 2000, at California Care Center.

He was born Jan. 8, 1910, in Moniteau County, a son of Wilbur R. and Anna Jobe Jackson. He was married Sept. 27, 1928, in Russellville, to Rosa May Binkley, who died Oct. 3, 1983.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked for the California Street Department and retired from the Kaiser Special Road District.

Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Mae Burnett, Eldon, and Ruby Williams, Kaiser; one brother, James Jackson,  Jefferson City; one sister, Mary Hackney,  Jefferson City; six grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Danny Graham will officiate. Burial will be in Gamble Cemetery, south of California.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Gamble Cemetery Fund, c/o Katherine Allee, 208 Cedar St., California, MO 65018.

ROOFFENER

Naomi Lois Rooffener, 59, Malta Bend, died Aug. 24, 2000, at her home.

She was born Aug. 7, 1941, in Camdenton, a daughter of Ernest G. and May Adaline Moore Stover.

Survivors include: three sons, James Rooffener and George Rooffener, both of Camdenton, and Lindsey Rooffener, Humansville; two daughters, Margaret, Slater, and Clara Barton, Eldridge; three brothers, Richard Stover, Cambridge, Ill., Paul Stover, Carrollton, and Johnny Stover, Mount Leonard; three sisters, Evelyn McGuire, Camdenton, Lucille Simms, Marshall, and Gordina Smith, Mount Leonard; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home. The Rev. J.R. McGuire will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

BLACKBURN

Karen Charlene Blackburn, 51, Williamsburg, died Aug. 25, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born March 14, 1949, in Fulton, a daughter of Charlie and Betty Stephens Perry. Her mother, Betty Campbell, survives in Columbia. She was married May 7, 1982, in Williamsburg, to John Blackburn, who survives at the home.

Other survivors include: one son, Joey Blackburn, of the home; two daughters, Deana Hall, Mokane, and Lori Singleton, Fulton; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Lewis Curtis will officiate. Burial will be in Bethel Methodist Cemetery, Reedsville.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

BOOHER

Eva P. Booher, 76, Belle, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Lincoln County, a daughter of John and Lottie Pollard Bergesch. She was married Dec. 7, 1946, in St. Louis, to John W. Booher, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include: two sons, Michael S. Booher, Springfield, and Thomas J. Booher, Bland; one daughter, Nancy E. Reinkemeyer, Linn; one brother, William Bergesch, St. Louis County; four granddaughters, two step-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Church of Christ Cemetery, Belle.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Helias High School.

DAVIS

Denver L. Davis, 80, Kaiser, died Aug. 25, 2000, at St. John's Regional Health Care, Springfield.

He was born Feb. 27, 1920, in Kennett, a son of Lon and Cloa Bea Williams Davis.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. After the war, he was a brakeman on the Rock Island Railroad, beginning in 1946. He later became a conductor and retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad in 1982.

He owned and operated the Century Grill in Eldon for six years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Eldon.

Survivors include: three daughters, Sandra Turner, Sikeston, Sherry Musick, Springfield, and Sara Davis Muff, Osage Beach; one brother, Dallas Davis, Paragould, Ark.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Private services are scheduled for Monday. The Rev. Doug Walters will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery, Eugene.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

KRUEGER

Herbert Arthur Krueger, 81, Kingdom City, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

He was born Sept. 1, 1918, in Armstrong, Minn., a son of Charlie A. and Emily L. Pohlmann Krueger. He was married Oct. 20, 1937, in Nashua, Iowa, to Elnora Katherine Wangen, who survives at the home.

He moved to Missouri in December 1950, after working for the Wilson Meat Packing Co. and as a farmer. In St. Louis, he worked for the Stout Sign Co. and for Automatic Devices, before moving his family to a farm in McCredie in 1956.

He also worked for the University of Missouri, until he was appointed to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Soil and Water Research. He managed the Midwest Claypan Experiment Station at Kingdom City until he retired in 1978 and returned to farming.

He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fulton, and the Good Neighbors Club of Calwood.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. David Mueller will officiate. Burial will be in Old Auxvasse Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to St. Paul's Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour Ministry.

SAMPSON

Wesley Reed Sampson, 78, Fulton, died Aug. 25, 2000, at Callaway Community Hospital, Fulton.

He was born April 10, 1922, in Callaway County, a son of Paris S. and Beulah Vesta Guerrant Sampson. He was married Feb. 4, 1947, in Fulton, to Lucy Mildred Roberts, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a laboratory technician at A.P. Green until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Fulton.

Other survivors include: three sons, Edwin Wesley Sampson, Grandview, Kerry Reid Sampson, Blue Springs, and Robert Dexter Sampson, Fulton; one brother, Clark Sampson, Fulton; one sister, Louise Hardin, Fulton; and two grandsons.

One son, David Sampson, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Ron Baker will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

DANIELS

Gladys Iola Daniels, 85,  Jefferson City, died Aug. 26, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Ashland, a daughter of Edward H. and Anna Lou Cains Daniels.

She attended Warrensburg State Teachers College and taught school in Callaway and Cole counties for nine years. A former resident of Fulton, she worked as an attendant at Fulton State Hospital for 35 years until her retirement in 1979.

She was a member of United Methodist Church, New Bloomfield.

Survivors include one nephew, Edward Bullard, Ashland.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. George Braden will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.

Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Tuesday.
