PACE

Carl W. "Whitey" Pace, 68,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 4, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born April 21, 1932, near Gravois Mills, a son of Joseph F. and Leta G. Allen Pace. His mother survives near Gravois Mills.

A 1950 graduate of Morgan County R-2 High School, Versailles, he served in the Navy for 20 years.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Dianne Lynn Whitehead, Kansas City; two brothers, Joe T. Pace, Versailles, and Robert Pace, Fortuna; one sister, Nina Pace, Gravois Mills; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

GOVE

Clara Ann Gove, 96, Linn, died Sept. 5, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.

She was born Feb. 11, 1904, in Linn, a daughter of Albert and Emilie Baclesse. She was married Aug. 29, 1921, in Hermann, to Alfred L. Gove, who died March 16, 1991.

A homemaker, she co-operated a dairy farm in the Freedom area.

Survivors include: two sons, Milton Gove and Ralph Gove, both of Linn; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial will be in Linn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

ABBIE

Mary Pauline Abbie, 90,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 2, 2000, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Dec. 30, 1909, in Baxter Springs, Kan., a daughter of Thomas and Etta Bradford Freshener. She was married in September 1924, in  Jefferson City, to Leonard Monroe Rice, who died in February 1952. She was married in Los Angeles to Andrew Abbie, who preceded her in death.

She graduated from the Eldon high school and Los Angeles School of Practical Nursing, Los Angeles. She was a homemaker.

She was employed as a licensed practical nurse in Los Angeles, and at St. Marys Health Center, Memorial Community Hospital and Still Hospital.

She was a member of the Church of Christ of Latter Day Saints- Jefferson City Ward.

She was a member of the  Jefferson City Chapter of Licensed Practical Nurses.

Survivors include: one son, John A. Rice,  Jefferson City; three daughters, Lois Schott, Kansas City, Bonnie Knoth, Eldon, and Mary Griffin,  Jefferson City; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

One son, William Rice, died in 1964.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Buescher Memorial Home. Thomas W. Smith and Bishop James R. Layton will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

DAVENPORT

Robert A. "Bob" Davenport, 79, Eldon, died Sept. 4, 2000, in  Jefferson City.

He was born July 25, 1921, in Miller County, a son of George and Jennie Lowery Davenport. He was married March 25, 1942, in Eldon, to Wanda Lou Henley, who died June 30, 1989.

He owned and operated a recreation center in Eldon. An Army veteran of World War II, he received a Purple Heart. He attended Spring Garden Baptist Church.

Survivors include: five daughters, Wanda Jeanie Smith, California, Billie Lou Merriott, Eugene, Linda Sue Cole, Ludington, Mich., Sylvia Ann Bohrn, Eldon, and Brenda Joyce Scott, Cleveland, Tenn.; two sons, Robert A. Davenport and William Cecil "Butch" Davenport, both of Eldon; one brother, Ed Davenport, Laurie; 18 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to Spring Garden Cemetery.

MILLER

Helen M. Miller, 82,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 4, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born June 1, 1918, in Springfield, a daughter of Thomas B. and Lola Mae Omens Chapman. She was married in Glendale, Calif., to Charles Miller, who died in February 1998.

A former resident of San Clemente, Calif., she was an account representative with Avon Inc. for 35 years. She was a resident of Oak Tree Villas.

Survivors include two nieces, Denise Kaiser,  Jefferson City, and Sheryl Poepsel, Indianapolis.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Home for the Aged.

HAGER

Norene Esther Hager, 80,  Jefferson City, died Sept. 5, 2000, in Holts Summit.

She was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Chamois, a daughter of Leo S. and Sadie Salin Sieg. She was married Sept. 30, 1944, in  Jefferson City, to Paul A. Hager, who survives at the home.

She attended school in Chamois and Linn. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Joseph Cathedral.

Survivors include: one son, Samuel Lee Hager,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Mary Catherine Bowen, Holts Summit, and Janet Ann Fischer, Columbia; two brothers, Calvin Sieg, state of Texas , and Lincoln Sieg, Chamois; two sisters, Nellie Jobe,  Jefferson City, and Bernadine Boss, Holts Summit; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, Rosemary Hager, who died in infancy, and Margaret Victoria Hager, who died in 1975.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Robert Kraus will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of  Jefferson City.

BOWMAN

Violet E. Bowman, 83, Osage Beach, died Sept. 4, 2000, in Osage Beach.

She was born April 18, 1917, in St. Louis, a daughter of Joseph and Ida Voss Beckmann. She was married May 21, 1943, in St. Louis, to Mark Bowman, who died Aug. 5, 1984.

She was a member of the Barnett Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past guardian in Job's Daughters and a past Girl Scout leader. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: three daughters, Marlene Hejnal, Red Hook, N.Y., Susan Jordan, Vancouver, Wash., and Linda Medlock, Osage Beach; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jasper Hunter will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Friday, with an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or the Kidney Foundation.

SIMMONS

Christopher James Simmons, 29, Osage Beach, died Sept. 4, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, from injuries sustained in a boating accident at Lake of the Ozarks.

He was born Feb. 23, 1971, in Irving, Texas , a son of Michael J. and Patricia Strange Simmons. His father survives in Warrenton. His mother survives in Houston, Texas . He was married July 31, 2000, to D. Ivy Borgmeyer, who survives at the home.

A 1989 graduate of Wentzville High School, he received a degree in managerial engineering from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1995. He completed an internship with General Motors and was employed by Kelly Electric before moving to Lake of the Ozarks.

He founded Simmons Logic Computer Service in 1997 and also established Lake PC Internet Service. In 1999, he sold his business to Advertisnet Internet Services, continuing to work for Advertisnet as system administrator and programmer.

He was a member of MO Synod Peace Lutheran Church, Greenview.

Other survivors include his grandparents, O.J. and Barbara Simmons, Wentzville, and John and Delsie Strange, O'Fallon.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at T.E. Pitman Funeral Home, Wentzville. Burial will be in Eternal Peace Cemetery, Wentzville.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

SCHUENEMEYER

Rose Marie Schuenemeyer, 72, Owensville, died Sept. 5, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 25, 1927, in Owensville, a daughter of Herman C. and Elizabeth Pearl Smith Buchholz. She was married July 3, 1948, in Linn, to Arthur Schuenemeyer, who survives at the home.

She was a member of Immaculate Conception Church of Owensville. She was a homemaker.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Suzanne Schuenemeyer and Denise Williams, both of  Jefferson City; one son, Anthony L. Schuenemeyer, O'Fallon; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. James Finder will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4:30-9 p.m. today at Gottenstroeter Funeral Home, Owensville, with a rosary at 7 p.m.
