VETTER

Services were Oct. 15 for Hugo H. Vetter, 83, San Antonio, formerly of  Jefferson City, who died Oct. 11, 2000, at San Antonio Texas Regent Care Center.

He was born Sept. 21, 1917, in  Jefferson City, a son of Bernard and Bertha Pittrich Vetter. He was married Oct. 11, 1941, to Martha Belle Haddock, who died March 1, 1981. He later married Grace Vetter, who survives at the home.

He is an Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired from the Air Force in 1961 and was with the Kelly Air Force base for 10 years.

Other survivors include: two sons, Lewis Vetter, Plano, Texas , and Vincent Vetter, Spring, Texas ; three daughters, Janice Weber, Jeanette Ploch and Carina Ciomperlik, all of San Antonio; two sisters, Sister Carina, Sisters of Loretto, Webster Groves, and Marie Jones,  Jefferson City; and 10 grandchildren.

Services were at Roy Akers Funeral Home, San Antonio. Burial was in Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio.

Memorials are suggested to Alamo Area Parkinson Group, 8507 Chesham, San Antonio 78254, or the charity of the donor's choice.

HUTCHISON

Jay C. Hutchison, 71, Vienna, died Oct. 20, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Aug. 22, 1929, in Vienna, a son of Cecil E. and Juanita Holliday Hutchison.

He was married July 15, 1952, in Nebraska, to Mozelle Moseley, who survives at the home.

He worked 24 years with the Missouri Division of Family Services, retiring in 1989 as director of the Phelps County office, Rolla. He later drove a school bus for the Maries County R-1 District.

He had been a member of the Maries County Fair Board, Lions Club, Masons and Khoury League.

Other survivors include: two sons, Barry Jay Hutchison and Kyle Cecil Hutchison; one daughter, Ramona Gail Howard; and nine grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Vienna United Methodist Church, Vienna. The Rev. Karen Alden will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna United Methodist Church; Vienna Public Cemetery Care; and the Historical Society of Maries County Charitable Trust.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kordes Funeral Home, Vienna.

VERSEN

Adolph James "Jim" Versen, 71, Sunrise Beach, died Oct. 20, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born March 23, 1929, in St. Louis, a son of Adolph Joseph and Mary E. Seymour Versen.

He was married to Patricia Albers, who preceded him in death.

He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was retired from American Airlines.

Survivors include: one step-son, Steve Albers, St. Louis; one step-daughter, Catherine Kidwell, Overland Park, Kan.; two sisters, Peggy Ryder, St. Louis, and Teresa Lancaster, Mission, Kan.; and three step-grandchildren.

A memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie.

HAGER

John Michael Hager, 90,  Jefferson City, died Oct. 22, 2000, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

He was born Aug. 12, 1910, in Henley, a son of John P. and Mary Edna Gress Hager. He was married May 16, 1935, to Pauline Fowler, who died Oct. 16, 1992.

He attended Oak Grove Public School and was employed by Tweedie Shoe Factory from 1933 to 1965. He worked for the Missouri State Agency of Surplus Property from 1965 until his retirement in 1975. He also did carpenter work and painting.

He was a member of Central United Church of Christ and a past member of Masonic Lodge AF & AM 43. He was former president of the R-4 Board of Education and a former scoutmaster with Boy Scout Troop 5. He was a member of a country western band.

Survivors include: two sons, Larry W. Hager and Roger G. Hager, both of  Jefferson City; one brother, Otto H. Hager, Columbia; one sister, Elizabeth Roark,  Jefferson City; and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen H. Buchholz will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

HERFURTH

Lois Herfurth, 93, Eldon, died Oct. 22, 2000, in Eldon.

She was born July 13, 1907, in Eldon, a daughter of Arthur and Grace Babcoke Vernon. She was married June 7, 1924, in California, to Clarence Herfurth, who died April 2, 1968.

She attended school in Eldon, graduating in 1924. She worked for Missouri Pacific Railroad for two years before becoming a bookkeeper for Hunter-McDonough Chevrolet for five years. She lived in Versailles, Grand Pass, Olean, St. Petersburg, Fla., Tucson, Ariz., and Tempe, Ariz. She returned to Eldon in 1968.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Eldon. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Eldon Rebekah Lodge.

Survivors include one son, Charles Herfurth, state of Florida.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch and the Rev. Phil Turner will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 12:45-2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

LITTLE

Dona P. Little, 80, Columbia, died Oct. 21, 2000, at Columbia Regional Care Center.

She was born May 22, 1920, in Ashland, a daughter of Elva and Edna Mae White Forbis. She was married June 30, 1939, in Ashland, to Hudson Little, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and attended Little Bonne Femme Baptist Church, Columbia.

Other survivors include: one son, Jimmy Russell Little, Columbia; one daughter, Bobby Gladbach, Mendon; one brother, Wayne Forbis, Ashland; one sister, Aline Gilmore, New Bloomfield; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in New Salem Cemetery, Ashland.

RICHARDSON

Rosetta Richardson, 78, Vienna, died Oct. 21, 2000, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.

She was born April 23, 1922, in Maries County, a daughter of Everett and Ida Dambach Albertson. She was married to Ray Richardson, who preceded her in death.

She was employed as an assembly line worker at Carter Car, St. Louis, for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna.

Survivors include five sisters, Florence Prusick and Elsie Frank, both of St. Louis, Lillian Dickneite,  Jefferson City, Bonnie Wiles, Dixon, and Betty Webb, Eldon.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna. The Rev. Cellis A. Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Public Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today, and from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, Vienna.

KING

Cecil L. King, 74, California, died Oct. 23, 2000, at California Care Center.

He was born Jan. 11, 1926, in Fredericktown, a son of F.A. and Clara Skaggs King. He was married Sept. 6, 1946, in Houston, Mo., to Velma Harmon, who survives at the home.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he moved to California in 1961. He worked as a mechanic at Putnam Chevrolet and as a maintenance mechanic at Cargill Inc., retiring in 1991. He was a member of California First Assembly of God Church and was a licensed Assemblies of God minister.

Other survivors include: two sons, Darrel L. King, California, and Jerry D. King, Eldon; two daughters, Connie Katschman, California, and Debra King, Independence; one brother, Bob King, Fenton; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Steve Walker will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the California First Assembly of God Building Fund, 204 N. Oak, California, Mo. 65018.

PARKER

Lee Scott Parker, 73, Rocky Mount, died Oct. 22, 2000, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 11, 1927, in Mexico, a son of Charles R. Sr. and Mary Ellen Scott Parker. His mother survives in Osage Beach.

He retired from Union Electric after 39 years. He was a member of Mexico United Methodist Church. He lived in Mexico before moving to Rocky Mount in 1997.

He is survived by one brother, Roy Parker Jr., Hemphill, Texas .

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Elmwood Cemetery. The Rev. James Shemwell will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Arnold Funeral Home, Mexico.

Memorials are suggested to the Mexico United Methodist Church Endowment Trust Fund.
