HOGAN
William Joseph Hogan, 64, Sunrise Beach, died Oct. 18, 2000, at Friendship House, Jefferson City.
He was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Chicago, a son of John and Florence Yates Hogan. He was married May 7, 1978, to June Serpe Younghaus, who survives at the home.
A 1954 graduate of Mendel Catholic High School, Chicago, he was a Navy veteran. He worked for the railroad and was employed 38 years as a union meat cutter for Jewel Foods. He moved to Sunrise Beach after retiring.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Laurie, Hurricane Deck Lions Club, American Legion Post 624 and Elks Lodge 2705.
Other survivors include: five daughters, Judy A. Hogan and Kathy Jacobs, both of Brookfield, Ill., Eddy Younghaus, Burlington, Wis., Saundra Rogers, Orland Park, Ill., and Rae Ann Miller, Palos Heights, Ill.; one sister, Marjorie O'Conner; one brother, Jack Hogan; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Orland Park. Burial will be in Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, Alsip, Ill.
Memorials are suggested to the Friendship House in Jefferson City.
Arrangements are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.
HAWKINS
Betty J. Hawkins, 50, Brumley, died Oct. 21, 2000, at her home.
She was born Dec. 28, 1949, in Tuscumbia, a daughter of Charles and Edith Louise Halderman. She was married July 5, 1968, to Gary Hawkins, who survives at the home.
She co-owned Hawkins Plumbing. She was a member of the Dam Car Club of Osage Beach and Brumley Baptist Church.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Gennifer Heimerl, Las Vegas, Stephanie Hawkins, Brumley, and Stacy Hawkins, Warrensburg; five brothers, Earl Halderman, Eugene, Elmer Halderman, Ulman, Roger Halderman and Lloyd Halderman, both of Eldon, and Charles Halderman, Wardsville; one sister, Helen Hunber, Lake Ozark; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The Rev. Lee Todd will officiate. Burial will be in Gott Cemetery, Brumley.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
BENEDICT
Harold Henry Benedict, 74, Camdenton, died Oct. 23, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Dec. 10, 1925, in Chamois, a son of Joseph C. and Caroline Schollmeyer Benedict. He was married Jan. 8, 1949, in Jefferson City, to Margaret Ann Hadwick, who survives at the home.
He worked as a driver for Orschlen Brothers Trucking for several years. He was a driver for Schwerman Trucking Company, Hannibal, from 1961 to 1983. He received the One Million Miles Safety Award in 1983.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton; Knights of Columbus; American Legion Post 229, Eldon; and International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 688.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Shirley Fitzpatrick, Wichita, Kan., and Patricia "Pat" Humke, Quincy, Ill.; one son, Harold "Hal" Benedict II, Hannibal; two sisters, Florence Boss, Hermann, and Josephine Kliethermes, Jefferson City; one brother, Frank Benedict, Jefferson City; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One infant son, John Benedict, and one grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Entombment, with military honors, will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Anthony Catholic Church Building Fund, Route 2, Box 232, Camdenton, Mo. 65020, or the American Heart Association.
BAIRD
Maxine Buster Baird, 73, Eldon, died Oct. 22, 2000, in Eldon.
She was born March 12, 1927, in Kansas City, a daughter of Ward and Lucille Chenault Buster. She was married July 9, 1961, in Oklahoma City, to Richard Baird, who survives at the home.
She was a lifetime member of the German shepherd Dog Club of Miami Valley, Ohio, and worked in sales for J.C. Penney. She moved to Eldon from Englewood, Ohio, two years ago. She was a member of Eugene Christian Church.
Other survivors include: one son, Michael R. Spencer, Glenwood, Iowa; one daughter, Melena J. Witt, Kettering, Ohio; two brothers, the Rev. Bob Buster and Ronald J. Buster, both of Eldon; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
DeVORSS
Services were today for Lori Lynn DeVorss, 33, Stover, who died Oct. 23, 2000, at her home.
She was born April 27, 1967, in Sedalia, a daughter of Jack and Carol Huffman Leet. Her father survives in Sedalia. Her mother, Carol Smith, survives in Stover.
She also is survived by one daughter, Nichole DeVorss, Sedalia, and maternal grandmother, Doris Huffman Sanderson, Lawrence, Kan.
Graveside services were in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia. The Rev. Bert Thomas officiated.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
GALAZIN
Rosemary E. Galazin, 78, Monticello, Ind., died Oct. 23, 2000, near Eldon.
She was born July 17, 1922, in Chicago, a daughter of John and Margaret Jensen. She was married in Chicago to Joseph Galazin, who died Dec. 23, 1984.
A graduate of Bowen High School, Chicago, she was employed as a sales clerk at Sears, Robuck and Co., Calumet City, Ill. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church, Lansing, Ill.
Survivors include: one son, Mark Galazin, Eldon; one daughter, Gail Stetich, Tinley Park, Ill.; one brother, John Jensen, Fort Collins, Colo.; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Ann Catholic Church. The Rev. Michael Gabriel will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8-9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Home.
HAWKINS

JEFFERY
Ronald Lee Jeffery, 57, Jefferson City, died Oct. 24, 2000, at Capital Healthcare Center.
He was born Aug. 13, 1943, in Jefferson City, a son of William and Emma G. Mickelis Jeffery. His mother survives in Jefferson City.
He attended Jefferson City schools and served in the Marine Corps. He was a truck driver and mover at Coy's Moving and Storage for more than 20 years until his retirement in 1992.
Other survivors include: one son, David Michael Jeffery, Cameron; three brothers, William Jeffery, Dennis Jeffery and Steven Jeffery, all of Jefferson City; and four sisters, Anna Heislen, Mary Shelton, Pamela Jeffery and Tina Jeffery, all of Jefferson City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial, with military honors, will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the American Red Cross.
KLICK
Everette Anthony "Tony" Klick, 58, Columbia, died Oct. 23, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born May 30, 1942, in Fulton, a son of Charles T. Hill and Verna M. Salmons.
An Army veteran, he was employed as a service technician in mechanical contracting.
Survivors include: two daughters, Traci Coffman, Columbia, and Jennifer Moore, Auxvasse; one brother; three sisters; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Jim Plotts will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday.
