LANE
Stella Lane, 89, Mokane, formerly of Wardsville, died April 5, 1999, at Riverview Nursing Center, Mokane.
She was born Jan. 12, 1915. She was married to Benjamin P. "Bennie" Lane, who died Nov. 4, 1990.
Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Smith Cemetery in Jefferson City.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Monday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton.
PRENGER
Helen S. Prenger, 86, Jefferson City, died April 9, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born March 21, 1913, in Taos, a daughter of Edward and Anna Stegeman Bernskoetter. She was married Feb. 27, 1933, in Taos, to Theodore Prenger, who died July 26, 1998.
A homemaker, she attended St. Francis Xavier School and worked as an inspector for International Shoe Factory from 1949 to 1959. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard E. Prenger, Taos, and Fred J. Prenger, Columbia; two daughters, Clara A. Werdehausen, Holts Summit, and Patsy Luebbering, St. Thomas; one sister, Cecilia Bruns, Loose Creek; 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Harold J. Prenger, one grandson and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Houser-Millard Funeral Home's Taos Chapel, with a prayer service at 6 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
SHIPLEY
Betty E. Shipley, 68, Jefferson City, died April 9, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Jan. 17, 1931, in Armstrong, a daughter of Pete and Ruby Goon Evans. She was married March 19, 1949, in Lexington, to Charles Shipley, who died March 22, 1987.
A graduate of Armstrong High School, she worked for the Missouri Department of Social Services from 1969 to March 1, 1999, retiring as a supervisor.
Survivors include: one son, Charles "Butch" Shipley, Jefferson City; one daughter, Susan Moody, Jefferson City; one sister, Frances Drown, Moberly; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Debby Shipley, in 1972.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Clohessy will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
STRAWN
Helen Frances Strawn, 78, Columbia, died April 10, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
She was born May 5, 1920, in Callaway County, a daughter of Alexander H. and Mabel Ruth Peyton King. She was married Feb. 14, 1939, in Marshall, to William "Bill" Strawn, who died April 3, 1989.
She was co-owner of Bill's Electric Service and a member of Rockbridge Church of God Holiness, both in Columbia.
Survivors include: two sons, John L. Strawn, Columbia, and William D. Strawn, Fulton; two daughters, Betty Kindberg, Independence, and Becky Welch, Columbia; two brothers, Harold King, Independence, and Robert King, Jefferson City; one sister, Pat Harrison, Mineral Wells, Texas ; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Funeral Home, Columbia. The Rev. Rodney Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.

BURRE
Frederick Kenneth "Polly" Burre, 83, Tebbetts, died April 11, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 20, 1916, in New Bloomfield, a son of Walter and Merl Smith Burre. He was married Dec. 25, 1940, in Fulton, to Loretta Boffa, who survives at the home.
He attended Mokane High School and worked for Meyer Electric until retirement. A World War II veteran, he earned a Bronze Star. He also worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.
He was a member of Tebbetts United Methodist Church, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 257, where he was a past president, and Independent Order of the Odd Fellows 596. He helped organize and was a past president of Callaway County Water District1. He was a member of the Missouri Old Time Fiddler's Association, Fulton VFW, and Eagles of Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Sheila Guthrie and Polly Ann Burre, both of Tebbetts, and Carol Sanderson, Jefferson City; two sisters, Olive Merle Shouse and Lois Bess, both of Tebbetts; and two grandchildren.
Two infant daughters, Janice Ann Burre and Suzanne Burre, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tebbetts United Methodist Church. The Rev. Harold Ferrell will officiate. Burial will be in Liberty Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Maupin Funeral Home in Fulton.

GOODWIN
John Frederick Goodwin, 84, Dixon, died April 10, 1999, at the Breech Regional Medical Center, Lebanon.
He was born May 4, 1914, in Peoria, Ill., a son of Isaac and Gertrude Lewis Goodwin. He was married June 22, 1935, in Galesburg, Ill., to Martha Justice, who survives at the home.
He was a machinist for the Moore Gear Co., St. Louis, for 20 years before his retirement in 1979, when he moved to Dixon.
He was a member of the Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dixon.
Other survivors include: one son, Ronald F. Goodwin, Peoria; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Two sons, John F. Goodwin Jr. and Donald F. Goodwin, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon. The Rev. Donald L. Maples will officiate. The remains will be cremated and placed in the Springdale Cemetery, Peoria, at a later time.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Victory Hill Baptist Church, Dixon.
HORSTMAN
Clyde Eugene Horstman, 60, Mokane, died April 11, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born March 14, 1939, in Mokane, a son of Louis E. and Antonia Koenig Horstman. He was married Nov. 26, 1960, in Fulton to Sherelene Mealy, who survives at the home.
He was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Mokane.
Other survivors include: two sons, Don Horstman and Gary Horstman, both of Mokane; two daughters, Marsha Jenkins, state of Florida, and Becky Jungermann, Portland; two brothers, John Horstman and Roger Horstman, both of Mokane; and seven grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Fred Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Steedman Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Heart Fund.
STERNBERG
Services were today for Delores M. Sternberg, 69, Bloomfield, Neb., who died April 8, 1999, at Faith Regional Health Services, Norfolk, Neb.
She was born April 26, 1929, in Norfolk, Neb., a daughter of Rudolph and Caroline Beckman Stoffer. She was married March 5, 1946, to Alvin Sternberg, who preceded her in death.
She worked on the family farm before moving into Bloomfield in 1988.
Survivors include: two sons, Fred Sternberg, Niobrara, Neb., and George Sternberg, Russellville; one daughter, Carolyn Sternberg, Bloomfield; two brothers, George Stoffer, De Pere, Wis., and Ronald Stoffer, Lakeland, Fla.; four sisters, Luella Ahlman, Irma Wagner and Larretta Draube, all of Norfolk, Neb., and Eleanor Synovec, state of Texas ; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded her in death.
Services were at First Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomfield. The Rev. Phillip Hannemann officiated. Burial was in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Brockhaus-Scott Funeral Home, Bloomfield, Neb.
TURNER
Veora M. Turner, 69, Macks Creek, died April 11, 1999, at her home.
She was born May 6, 1929, in Henderson, Neb., a daughter of Daniel and Stella Bueller Smith. Her mother survives in Macks Creek. She was married Feb. 4, 1950, in Papillion, Neb., to Ben Turner, who survives at the home.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Macks Creek.
Other survivors include: one son, Kenneth Turner, Macks Creek; three daughters, Diana Hurlbut, Toni Edwards and Mary Collins, all of Macks Creek; one sister, Grace Padcliffe, York, Neb.; 10 grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
One son, Danny Turner, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. The Rev. Dinzel Webb will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
