WEKAMP
Raymond J. Wekamp, 76, Jefferson City, died Nov. 3, 2000, at the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, Columbia.
He was born Nov. 18, 1932, at St. Martins, a son of Herman and Gertrude Hentes Wekamp. He was married in 1950 at Jefferson City to Alice M. Vaught, who died June 5, 1990.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, he attended the Jefferson City Public Schools. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed as a laborer in the construction industry for many years until his retirement in 1980. He was a member of the St. Peters Church, the Laborer Local No. 662, the America Legion Roscoe Enloe Post 5, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 2693.
Survivors include a nephew, William J. Vaught, Holts Summit.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peters Church, with the Rev. Joseph Corel officiating. Graveside services and burial with military honors will be conducted at Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the Freeman Mortuary from 4-7 p.m. Monday, with a prayer service to be conducted at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
WILSON
Robert E. Wilson, 86, Linn, died Nov. 2, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.
He was born Nov. 17, 1913, in Linn, a son of James and Eva Bell Crutsinger Wilson. He was married Sept. 22, 1937, in Linn to Mary G. Voss, who died July 24, 2000.
A lifelong area resident, he operated the Shell Station on the square in Linn and later owned and operated Goff's Supermarket, then changed the name to Thriftway Supermarket, from 1962 to 1980. He was a member of St. George Church, Linn, where he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Frances Light and Norma Lee Campbell, both of Linn; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at St. George Church. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate and burial will be in the St. George Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Parkinson's Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
BLEDSOE-BECK
Clara Ann Bledsoe-Beck, 61, Lake Ozark, formerly of Jefferson City, died Nov. 3, 2000, at the University of Missouri-Columbia, Hospital and Clinics, Columbia.
She was born Oct. 15, 1938, at Jefferson City, a daughter of Carl Summer and Josephine Helen Franke Ellsworth. She was married Oct. 30, 1954, at Cedar City to John James "Jim" Bledsoe, who died Dec. 6, 1991. She was then married April 17, 1999, at Olean to Donald Beck, who survives at the home.
She attended the Jefferson City Public Schools and was a graduate of the Jefferson City High School. She was a member of the Olean Baptist Church, Olean. She had been a volunteer with Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri. She was a homemaker and had also been employed as a cashier at the BreakTime Convenience Store at Dix Road and West Main Street.
Also surviving are: two sons, Michael Joseph Bledsoe, Sacramento, Calif., and Daniel James Bledsoe, Jefferson City; two daughters, Joyce Ann Marshall, Springfield, and Patricia Sue James, Olean; seven stepchildren; one sister, Margaret A. Elliot, Fulton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 12 step-grandchildren; and seven step-greatgrandchildren.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Buescher Memorial Home, Jefferson City. The Rev. Todd Walker will officiate. Burial will be in the Longview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. today.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
CARTER
Flora Opal Carter, 89, Jefferson City, died Nov. 1, 2000, at the Oak View Living Center, Jefferson City.
She was born Dec. 10, 1910, in Red Rock, Okla., a daughter of James Ernest and Belle Slade.
She was a homemaker and a 1929 graduate of the De Soto High School. She was married July 17, 1930, in De Soto to Vincent Ozro Carter, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the O.E.S. Chapter No. 15 where she was a District Deputy Grand Matron. She was also a member of the First Baptist Church, De Soto, teaching Sunday school for 55 years.
Survivors include: two sons, Richard Carter, Lee's Summit and James Carter, Jefferson City; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today at the Dietrich-Mothershead Chapel, De Soto, with the Rev. Jeremy Muniz and the Rev. Marvin Nobles officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, De Soto.
GROOM
Josephine M. Groom, 82, Chamois, died Nov. 3, 2000, at the Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Harrison, Ark., a daughter of John and Maudie Baughman Wolfe. She was married Dec. 5, 1952, in St. Louis to Robert A. Groom, who preceded her in death on Dec. 13, 1980.
She was a homemaker and a factory worker in St. Louis, including Loose Leaf Bindery and Small Arms companies. She moved to Chamois in the mid-1980s to be near her family after the death of her husband.
Survivors include: two brothers, Chalrie Wolfe, Jefferson City, and George Wolfe, Jefferson City; four brothers, Laura Jarvis, Dixon, Dora Walling of Chamois, Mylinda Thuli of Chamois, and Julie Callais of Centertown.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Morton Funeral Home Chapel, Chamois. The Rev. Larry Hendrickson will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be Monday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
JACKSON
Rafel 'Jack' Jackson, 74, Linn Creek, died Nov. 3, 2000, at the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
He was born May 5, 1926, in Marmaduke, Ark., a son of the late Deweey and Beulah Hester Jackson. He was married Sept. 4, 1950, to Louise Thornton, who died March 30, 1973. He later married Mary Collins on Aug. 23, 1980, and she survives at home.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Camdenton, a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, and a retired truck driver for Yellow Fright Trucking Co., St. Louis, where he worked for 27 years.
Other survivors include: a daughter, Barbara Bowles, Baltimore, Maryland; four brothers, Denver Jackson, St. Louis, Dewayne Cox, state of Washington , Larry Cox and Dan Cox, both of Boise, Idaho; two sisters, Louise Swink, Oklahoma City, Okla., Lavanda Henson, Sacramento, Calif.; and one granddaughter.
Services will be held Monday at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church in Camdenton. The Rev. Tom Ford will officiate. Burial and graveside services will be held Monday at 3 p.m. at the Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be today from 4-6 p.m. at the Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
SIMON
Herbert Frank Simon, 66, Kansas City, a former resident of Jefferson City, died Nov. 1, 2000, at St. Luke's Hospital, Kansas City.
He was born April 16, 1934, in Kansas City, a son of Herbert H. and Eselean Buehrle Simon.
He was a graduate of Westport High School, Kansas City; Kansas City Junior College; the Kansas City Conservatory of Music; and the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He worked for 31 years as the Interlibrary Loan Officer at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Kansas City.He was a member of the St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Kansas City, and sang in both the Cathedral and Chancel Choirs. He was a member of the Harry S. Truman Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, having served as genealogist/registrar, vice president and president. He had also served as the state genealogist.
For several years, he served as the genealogist for the Episcopal Diocese of Western Missouri. He was also a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans, the Military Order of the Stars and Bars, and the Jackson County Historical Society. He was instrumental in and one of the organizers of the tours and restoration of Woodland Cemetery.
He is survived by a niece and cousins, all of Jefferson City.
Services will be held today at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Private burial will be held in the Forest Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Woodland Cemetery Restoration Fund.
Local arrangements are under the direction of the Buescher Memorial Home.
STOERMER
Otto Emil Stoermer, 101, Cole Camp, died Nov. 3, 2000, at his home in the Cole Camp Retirement Village.
He was born Aug. 24, 1899, at Konigsberg in East Prussia, Germany, a son of Emil and Wilhelmine Reddig Stoermer. He was married April 19, 1931, in Yma, Colo., to Lena Busing, who died May 30, 2000.
He was a member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church of Cole Camp. From 1917 to 1919, he served his country during World War I.
He is survived by: two daughters, Edna Simon, Cole Camp and Margaret Mayhew, Jefferson City; a son, Herbert Stoermer, Cole Camp; a sister, Grete Linker, Fort Collins, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Paul Stoermer.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Cole Camp, with the Rev. Erich L. Kurz officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Cemetery, Cole Camp.
A prayer service will be held at 7:30 p.m. today at the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp, with the visitation following.
Memorials are suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Benton County Hospice or Cole Camp Senior Center in care of the funeral home.
KLEINDIENST
Alfred W. "Tootie" Kleindienst, 83, Jefferson City, died Nov. 4, 2000, at his home.
He was born March 1, 1917, in Cole County, a son of Augusta R. and Stella Clardy Kleindienst. He was married March 2, 1940, in Cole County, to Rometta Mallicoat, who died Sept. 2, 1973. He was married Feb. 25, 1958, in Crane, to Twyla J. Gonseth, who survives at the home.
A lifelong resident of the Jefferson City area, he attended Jefferson City public schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He worked as a mechanic with Arthur W. Ellis Tire Company. He later was an iron worker in the construction industry.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Patty J. Vance, Kansas City, Glenda J. Cain, state of North Carolina, and Rhonda Kay Grau, St. Louis; two sisters, Dorothy Gibler, Jefferson City, and Letha Bunton, Littleton, Colo.; two brothers, Paul Kleindienst and David Lee Kleindienst, both of Jefferson City; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
One granddaughter preceded him in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. John Hobratschk will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
