McCAULEY

Hayward "Mac" McCauley, 69, Versailles, died Nov. 21, 2000, at Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital, Columbia.

He was born July 16, 1931, in Clarksburg, W.Va., a son of James and Lora Dean McCauley. He was married Aug. 20, 1987, to Susan Carter, who survives at the home.

He was retired from Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, Kan. He was an Army veteran. He was a member of the St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church, Versailles, the Knights of Columbus St. Philip Benizi Council 12682 and the VFW.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Tonda Hoeninger, Apple Valley, Minn., and Nanette Holloway, Pittsburg, Kan.; two sons, Eric Baima, Wichita, and William McCauley, of the home; one brother, Bernard Price, Greenville, S.C.; one sister, Carolyn Price, Clarksburg, W. Va.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church. The Rev. C.D. Ryan will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

PAYNE

Mary Katherine Payne, 78, Fulton, died Nov. 23, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

She was born Nov. 2, 1922, a daughter of William B. and Marguerite Christine Miller Bonard. She was married Aug. 26, 1939, in Fulton, to Homer Yates Payne, who died Jan. 11, 1998.

She worked in the dietary department at Fulton State Hospital. She was a member of Court Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include: three brothers, John Bonard and Woodrow Bonard, both of Fulton, and Tommy Joe Bonard, Kaiser; and one sister, Grace Tharp, Fulton.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Callaway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The Rev. George Braden and Bruce Williamson will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Court Street United Methodist Church or Callaway Hills Animal Shelter.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

RACKERS

Darren Andrew Rackers, 28, Columbia, died Nov. 22, 2000, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Columbia.

He was born Jan. 29, 1972, in  Jefferson City, a son of Glenn J. and Jane Louise Lutz Rackers. His mother and stepfather, Jane and David Schnieders, survive in  Jefferson City. He was married June 11, 1991, in  Jefferson City, to Leslie Michelle Eberstein, who survives in Columbia.

He attended St. Peter Catholic School and  Jefferson City High School.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Xyla B. Rackers, Columbia; his fiancée, Kristy Seeger, Columbia; one stepsister, Tiffany D. Scaglione, state of New Jersey; maternal grandmother, Catherine Lutz, Tipton; and paternal grandmother, Pauline Rackers,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Gregory L. Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, with a eulogy service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to a scholarship fund for his daughter at  Jefferson Bank.

TUTTLE

Floyd D. Tuttle, 89, Barnett, died Nov. 20, 2000, at his home.

He was born March 30, 1911, in Perry.

He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II and a retired chef and baker.

Survivors include one son, Phillip King, Barnett, and one daughter, Jennifer Brinkman, Barnett.

The remains were cremated.

Arrangements were under the direction of Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

CASEY

Glenn E. Casey, 88, Iberia, died Nov. 24, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born in Iberia Sept. 22, 1912, a son of Ray and Naomi (Pemberton) Casey. He was married Nov. 17, 1939, in Eldon to Jean Maxine Curtiss, who died Sept. 22, 1986.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving with the Blue Devils of Italy in the 88th Infantry. He was a farmer, he worked as Miller County Clerk and was a rural schoolteacher. He and his wife owned and operated Casey's store in Iberia for 17 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of the Iberia VFW Post 6167 and the Iberia Masonic Lodge No. 410 AF and AM. He was also a member of the Iberia First Baptist Church.

Survivors include: a daughter, Peggy Fancher, Iberia; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, JoAnn Stevinson.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. Wayne Vaughn will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Iberia Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

CRAIG

Orelius Brown Craig, 92, Hartsburg, died Nov. 24, 2000, at Ashland Healthcare, Ashland.

He was born Nov. 18, 1908, in Englewood, a son of Coleman Creswell Craig and Lula Hart Craig. He was married Sept. 8, 1934, in Ashland to Mable Jones, who preceded him in death. He was married again on Nov. 18, 1967, in Ashland to Celeste Arnsmeyer, who preceded him in death.

He was a heavy equipment operator for the rock quarry. He was a member of the Teamsters, a member of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Hartsburg, and the Southern Boone Senior Center.

Survivors include: a son, James Craig, Hartsburg; two daughters, Betty Craig, Hartsburg and Kay Taggart, Florissant; a brother, Colemann Craig of Greenwood, Mississippi; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at the Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. The Rev. Jim Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Hartsburg.

Memorials are suggested to the Southern Boone County Senior Center, Douglas Street, Ashland, Mo., 65010.

McDOWELL

Lukas Cheyenne McDowell, 18, Camdenton, died Nov. 24, 2000, from injuries sustained in an auto accident.

He was born July 24, 1982, in Osage Beach, a son of Winston Ray and Dina Poss McDowell.

He was a senior at Camdenton High School, a member of the Laker football team, the Speech and Debate Club, the Drama Club, the Forensic Club, F.C.A., the 1999 state football champions and the Bethel Baptist Church, Ulman.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Survivors include: his mother and step-father, Dina and Norman Boles, Camdenton; four sisters, Christine Sweatt and Amber McDowell, both of Camdenton, Jami Hovey and Angela Lundberg, both of Columbus, Ga.; two brothers, Rodney Kurtz, Gardner, Kan., and Brad Boles, Fredricksburg, Va.; a paternal grandmother, Minnie Pearl McDowell, Brumley; and a maternal grandmother, Myra Lea Poss, Eldon.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Camdenton High School. The Rev. Rick Ginnings will officiate. Burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery, Kaiser.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

NEWMAN

Fred D. Newman Jr., 58, Columbia, died Nov. 23, 2000, in Columbia.

He was born Jan. 1, 1942, in Chickasaw, Okla., a son of Fred D. and Zenda Ann Newman. He was married from 1962-1983.

He was educated in St. Louis at Principia High School. He furthered his education in  Oklahoma. He later graduated from  Oklahoma State Highway Patrol School. He received an honorary doctorate at Iowa University. He started his own business as a builder, developer and investor in  Oklahoma and St. Louis. He finished his career as a senior executive vice president with Raul Walters Properties, Columbia.

Survivors include: a son, Brent D. Newman, St. Louis; two daughters, Shannon L. Newman, St. Louis and Tiffany M. Crump, Potosi; one sister, Esther Richards, Dallas; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Lourdes. Monsignor Michael Flanagan will officiate. A private burial will follow.

Memorials are suggested to the ALS Association, 1206-B, Eugenia, Columbia, Mo., 65201.

NILGES

Victor Henry Nilges, 68,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 24, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born March 23, 1932, in Freeburg, a son of William Balcer Nilges and Katherine Bock Nilges. He was married May 31, 1969, in Freeburg, to Esther J. Risse, who survives at the home.

He was employed for 28 years with the Missouri Department of Transportation. He later was an over-the-road truck driver until retiring in 1993. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral, the American Legion, VFW and the Knights of Columbus.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Beth M. Hecker, Springfield; one son, Tim J. Nilges, O'Fallon; four sisters, Barbara Nilges,  Jefferson City, Dorothy Iven and Mary Hoffman, both of Freeburg, and Georgia DeBroeck, Mansfield, Texas ; two brothers, Ben Nilges,  Jefferson City and Bill Nilges, Freeburg; and two grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Cathedral, with military rites following. The Rev. Timothy Tatro will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

OLIVE

Ada L. Olive, 89,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 24, 2000, at St. Joseph Nursing Center.

She was born Nov. 28, 1910, in St. Louis, a daughter of Thomas Edward and Sylvia Izora (nee Hiatt) Hunt. Her husband, William "Buck" Olive, died Aug. 31, 1991.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Crystal City, and a 53-year member and past regent of Daughters of Isabella. She was also a past president of  Jefferson Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Survivors include: one son, William H. Olive,  Jefferson City; one brother, Thomas E. Hunt, Crystal City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Church, Crystal City. The Rev. Anthony Datillo will officiate. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Crystal City.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, at Vinyard Funeral Home, Festus.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Home for the Aged, 1306 W. Main,  Jefferson City, Mo., 65109.
