ROTHWEILER

John Edward Rothweiler, 71, Lake Ozark, died Nov. 25, 2000, at his home.

He was born May 5, 1929, in Belleville, Ill., a son of John Sr. and Evelyn Dawson Rothweiler. He was married June 10, 1950, in Belleville, to Marie Nadine Farley, who survives at the home.

He obtained an associate's degree from Belleville Area College. He worked as a chemist and metallurgist at the Sterling and American Steel plants in East St. Louis, Ill. He worked as a wastewater treatment operator for the city of Belleville from 1951 to 1986, when he retired and moved to the Lake area. He received the C.W. Kiasen Award as outstanding operator in Illinois.

He also was a semi-professional musician, playing woodwinds and percussion. He was involved in vocal ensembles and the hand bell choir. He was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. He was a member of the Lake Area Golden Age Club.

Other survivors include one son, the Rev. Don E. Rothweiler, State Center, Iowa, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Harper United Methodist Church. A fellowship will follow.

Memorials are suggested to the Harper Chapel United Methodist Church and Hand Bell Church Fund.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.

RUEFF

Herbert Hadley Rueff, 90, Henderson, Nev., formerly of  Jefferson City, died Nov. 21, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 15, 1909, in St. Joseph, a son of William and Elsie Kraettli Rueff. He was married Sept. 10, 1939, in Warrenton, to Muriel Krause, who died Jan. 20, 1975.

He attended school in Rhineland and Warrenton. He worked on dikes and channel divisions for a construction company on the Missouri, Mississippi and Ohio rivers. He farmed in Boonville and Jamestown from 1941 to 1955.

He worked at the MFA Feed Mill, California, and was employed by the Missouri Department of Corrections at Algoa Reformatory from 1957 to 1973. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reform Congregational Church.

He is survived by one son, Aubrey Rueff, Henderson.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Buescher Memorial Home. Burial will be in Warrenton Cemetery, Warrenton.

Visitation will be from 12:30-1 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation, P.O. Box 366,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65102.

MOUNGER

Schuyler Mounger, 66,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 27, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

Arrangements are at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

LADD

Pearl Ladd, 93,  Jefferson City, died Nov. 28, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

Arrangements are at Houser-Millard Funeral Home.

FOSTER

Irene "Teddy" Schlup Foster, 95, Eldon, died Nov. 27, 2000, in Eldon.

She was born Sept. 20, 1905, in California, a daughter of John S. and Cornelia Martha Reed Schlup. She was married July 9, 1924, in  Jefferson City, to Leroy David Foster, who died March 5, 1991.

She owned and operated Boat Haven Store and Boat Storage. She was a member of the Barnett Flower Club and First Baptist Church, Eldon. She worked at Douglas Aircraft, El Segundo, Calif., during World War II.

Survivors include: three sons, John Fielding Foster, Hallsville, David Irwin Foster, Springfield, and Neal Allyn Foster, Eldon; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Cellis Crum will officiate. Burial will be in Eldon City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Eldon Garden Club.

HASLAG

Sylvester F. Haslag, 86, Frankenstein, died Nov. 29, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Frankenstein, a son of August and Gertrude Stieferman Haslag. He was married Oct. 29, 1947, in Koeltztown, to Augusta Temmen, who survives at the home.

He was a retired farmer. He served on the board of the Chamois Mutual Insurance Co. for 11 years, and was a Linn Township committeeman.

He was a member of Our Lady of Help Church, Frankenstein.

Other survivors include: two sons, Frank Haslag, Linn, and Robert Haslag, Frankenstein; three daughters, Linda M. Troesser and Mary A. Wilbers, both of Loose Creek, and Margaret A. Schaefer, Frankenstein; one sister, Clarabelle Dorweiler, Linn; 18 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Help Church. The Rev. George Kramer will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Gethsemane Cemetery, Frankenstein.

Visitation will be from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School.

FITZGERALD

Services were today for Robert Earl Fitzgerald, 93, Fortuna, who died Nov. 28, 2000, at his home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1906, in St. Louis, a son of Thomas A. and Mary C. Hoodentyle Fitzgerald. He was married to Sylvia Fitzgerald, who survives at the home.

He was a retired mechanic and sewing machine repairman.

Other survivors include one son, James Fitzgerald, Willard.

One daughter, Kathryn Ruggles, preceded him in death.

Services were at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Rod Campbell officiated. Burial was in Mount Carmel Cemetery, near Versailles.

PHILLIPS

Thelma G. Phillips, 89,  Jefferson City, died May 29, 2001, at her home.

She was born Aug. 14, 1912, in Stover, a daughter of James S. and Daisy Belle Merriott Roe. She was married in 1930 in Cape Girardeau to Dewey Franklin Phillips, who preceded her in death.

She went to school in Joplin and was a member of Oakland Christian Church. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: two sons, D. Joe Phillips, Columbia, and Franklin Wayne Phillips, New Bloomfield; six daughters, Shirley A. Hicks, Geraldine M. Gilpin, Permela J. Muffi and Carol Sue Miller, all of  Jefferson City, Marilyn K. Baugh, Carthage, and Judy C. Burns, Roach; 22 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

One son, Charles Franklin Phillips, preceded her in death.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Forest Park Cemetery, Joplin. Pastor Mathew Reynolds will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today at Mason-Woodard Mortuary, Joplin.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the Alzheimer's Association.

STONER

Orval "Cotton" Stoner, 72, Macks Creek, died May 30, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 6, 1928, in Macks Creek, a son of Joel F. and Viola Ann Parrack Stoner. He was married Sept. 20,1947, to Mary Lou Cowen, who survives at the home.

He owned and operated Stoner Garage in Macks Creek. Prior to that, he worked for Williams Motors, Camdenton, and Elliott's Garage, Macks Creek. He was a member and charter deacon for 40 years at Mission Ridge Missionary Baptist Church in Macks Creek.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Linda Eldridge, Sunrise Beach, Barbara Stoufer, Liberty, and Kay Skinner and Wanda Campbell, both of Macks Creek; two sons, Eldon Stoner and Buzz Stoner, both of Macks Creek; one brother, Oval Stoner, Macks Creek; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Two grandchildren preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. The Rev. Dean Rooffener and the Rev. Tommy Parrack will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Lake Ozark Hospice.

WELPMAN

Mae Agnes Welpman, 93, Barnett, died May 30, 2001, at the Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born Feb. 1, 1908, in Marvin, a daughter of William H. and Maggie Mae Huffman Daniels. She was married Dec. 24, 1933, to Marvin John Welpman, who died June 5, 1984.

A homemaker, she taught at Hopewell School.

She was a member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for 60 years.

She also was a member of Morgan County Farm Bureau and Gideon's Auxiliary.

Survivors include one daughter, Barbara Neal William, Garnett, Kan., three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Buelah Cemetery, Versailles.

Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church or the Gideon's International.
