GEORGE
Ethel George, 90, Tuscumbia, died Dec. 11, 2000, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Sept. 1, 1910, in Joplin, a daughter of Charles and Ethel Howard Kimberlan.
She was a member of Hickory Point Baptist Church, near Iberia.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Miller County Care Center, Tuscumbia. The remains were cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon.
KOERNER
Dorothy Irene Koerner, 93, St. Joseph, died Dec. 11, 2000, at Carriage Square Health Care Center, St. Joseph.
She was born Sept. 27, 1907, in Olathe, Kan., a daughter of Richard B. and Jessie Elizabeth Briggs Stewart. She was married June 1, 1933, in Coffeyville, Kan., to Wendell E. Koerner, who died in 1985.
She attended Coffeyville Junior College and the University of Kansas. She received her bachelor's degree in education from Lincoln University. She was a substitue teacher in the Jefferson City Public School System and was a tutor for students with cerebral palsy. She was a second grade teacher at New Bloomfield Elementary School for many years before retiring.
She was a member of First Christian Church, where she was a lifetime deacon. She was Past Worthy Matron of Chapter 496 of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Jane Randolph Daughters of the American Revolution and Grand Representative to the Grand Chapter of the state of Massachusetts from the Grand Chapter of the state of Missouri. She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association, the Disciples of Christ Historical Society and was past president of the Simonsen Junior High PTA.
Survivors include: one son, Wendell E. Koerner Jr., St. Joseph; one daughter, Judith Olen, Highland, Ind.; one sister, Helen Hunt, Towson, Md.; two granddaughters; three step grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren.
One infant son, Dorwen Koerner, died in 1934. One grandson also preceded her in death.
Services and an Order of the Eastern Star service will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Lawrence Veatch will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Jefferson City or to Chapter 496 of the Order of the Eastern Star.
RUSSELL
Don Russell, 71, Eldon, died Dec. 11, 2000, in Eldon.
He was born March 11, 1929, in Winona, a son of James W. and Amelia Brandon Russell. He was married to Peggy Payne, who survives in Versailles.
He was a musician with the Ozark Opry.
Other survivors include one daughter, Vicky Pratt, Brumley, and five grandchildren.
One son, Mark Russell, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jim McGowin will officiate.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.
Memorials are suggested to the care of the family.
SWAFFORD
Ruth Evelyn Yeager Swafford, 83, Springfield, formerly of Macks Creek, died Dec. 11, 2000, at St. Johns Hospital, Springfield.
She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Emporia, Kan., a daughter of John and Lillie Rasmussen Yeager. She was married in 1936 to Millard J. Pennell, who died in December 1942. She was married in 1951 to McAllen Swafford, who survives at the home.
She was a 1936 graduate of Camdenton High School and worked for Boeing Aircraft, Wichita, Kan. She co-operated Thompson Station in Camden County until her retirement in 1979. She moved to Springfield in November 1999.
She was a founding member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Camdenton. She was a Past Worthy Matron and member of Macks Creek Chapter 20 of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 5923, Camdenton.
Other survivors include: one son, Marvin Pennell, Springfield; one stepson, Jimmy Swafford, Wichita; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Pastor John Davis will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a Ladies Auxiliary VFW service at 6 p.m and an Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:30 p.m.

TALBOTT
Wallace T. Talbott, 90, Jefferson City, died Dec. 11, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 1, 1910, in Wichita, Kan., a son of William A. and Flora Myrtle Templeton Talbott. He was married Feb. 4, 1949, in Paris, France, to Edrie E. Metz, who died July 1, 1985.
He was an Army veteran and retired in 1963 as a colonel after 23 years of service. A former Gravois Mills resident, he was the originator of the Osage Heritage Festival, Gravois Mills, and was an honorary member of the Osage Tribe. He authored the book "Osage Dominant Power of the Louisiana Territory."
He attended Versailles United Methodist Church, served on the Gravois Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Gravois Lions Club.
Survivors include: one son, Loren Neal Talbott, Jefferson City; one sister, Betty Gentry, Florida; and three grandsons.
One son, Marvin Talbott, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. Burial with military honors will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Indian Movement.
TAYLOR
William I. Taylor, 87, Gravois Mills, died Dec. 12, 2000, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born Oct. 1, 1913, in Jackson County, a son of Gordon F. and Clara Elizabeth Spooner Taylor. He was married to Georgia Jean Kalousic, who preceded him in death. He was married Oct. 12, 1976, to Bernice Coll, who survives at the home.
He was a retired self-employed welder and repairman. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the American Legion Zack Wheat Post 624, Sunrise Beach, and the Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie.
Other survivors include: three brothers, John R. Taylor, Greenwood, and Gordon Richard Taylor and Harry Dean Taylor, both of Lee's Summit; and one sister, Mary Isabelle Taylor, Richland, Wash.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. James Lawley will officiate. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Lee's Summit Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Thursday.
Memorials are suggested to Ozark Chapel United Methodist Church, Laurie.
TEEPLE
Gladys Teeple, 91, Doolittle, died Dec. 12, 2000, at Northgate Park Care Center, Florissant.
She was born Feb. 4, 1909, in Hancock, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Davis. She was married May 11, 1929, in Detroit, to Glen Teeple, who survives in Doolittle.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include one son, Ron Teeple, Lady Lake, Fla., five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Norman Glen Teeple, died Feb. 17, 1992.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Dixon Cemetery. Jackie Smart will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Bopp Chapel, Kirkwood.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Dixon.
THEROFF
Herbert Theroff, 82, Russellville, died Dec. 12, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
Arrangements are at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.
MARTIN
Hazel E. Martin, 92, Eldon, died Dec. 13, 2000, in Jefferson City.
She was born Feb. 23, 1908, in Brumley, a daughter of Henry D. and Mariah Catherine Graham Wall. She was married in 1926 in Brumley to Paul J. Martin, who died Jan. 19, 1990.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of Mount Herman Baptist Church and Mount Herman Extension Club.
Survivors include: one son, Jack Martin, Olean; two daughters, Pauline Klug, Gravois Mills, and Doris Wiggins, Jefferson City; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
One son, Dave Martin, and one grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Ken Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Hawkins Cemetery, Brumley.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday.
