DAVIS
Marjorie Ann Davis, 91, Mexico, died April 16, 1999, at Boone Hospital Center.
She was born Oct. 18, 1907, in Audrain County, a daughter of John M. and Martha A. Bratcher Young. She was married Oct. 30, 1959, to H. Burks Davis, who died Feb. 13, 1979.
She had worked as a clerk for Missouri State Government. She was a member of the Christian Church in Jefferson City.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, in Elmwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2:30 p.m. Sunday at Arnold Funeral Home.
SALLIN
Martha Christine Sallin, 91, Westphalia, died April 16, 1999, at Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
She was born April 23, 1907, in St. Thomas, a daughter of Henry and Anna Rackers Gerling. She was married May 29, 1935, in Marys Home, to Henry Sallin, who died May 4, 1968.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; St. Ann Sodality; St. Ann Sewing Circle; American Legion Post Auxiliary; Western Catholic Union; Westphalia Senior Citizens Club; and former election judge and Westphalia news correspondent for Linn Unterrified Democrat.
Survivors include: four daughters, Carol Sallin, Waneta Buthod and Linda Sallin, all of Jefferson City, and Shirley Luebbering, St. Thomas; two sons, Ronald Sallin, Murray, Ky., and Wendell Sallin, Glenview, Ill.; two brothers, Hubert Gerling, Mexico, and Norbert Gerling, Henley; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. The Rev. Peter Walsh will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Sunday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. A prayer service will be at 4 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Jefferson City and Mid-Missouri.
Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia.
SHANE
Georgia Juanita Shane, 80, Syracuse, died April 15, 1999, at Tipton Manor.
She was born July 8, 1918, in Otterville, a daughter of George and Cora M. Markland Stamberger. She was married April 22, 1936, in Sedalia, to Albert Shane, who survives at the home.
She was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Florence. She lived all her life in the Syracuse and Otterville areas.
Other survivors include: three sons, Robert Lee Shane, Popular Bluff; Billy Junior Shane, California; and Jimmie Ray Shane, Syracuse; three daughters, Dorothy Earlene Lewis, Sedalia; Esther Mae Schmidt, Wellsville; and Shirley Kay Hughes, Jefferson City; two brothers, Raymond Stamberger and Henry Freddie Stamberger, both of Otterville; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Farrie Cole will officiate. Burial will be in Syracuse Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to Tipton Manor.
BARNHART
Irene Margaret Barnhart, 72, Meta, died April 16, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born May 21, 1926, in St. Elizabeth, a daughter of Martin and Lucy Weidinger Struemph. She was married Nov. 5, 1947, to Joseph "Bud" Schanzmeyer, who died Feb. 11, 1948. She was married Dec. 29, 1984, in Rosati, to Francis Barnhart, who survives at the home.
She and her first husband were dairy farmers in Meta for many years. She was a cook for 10 years at the school in Meta and had worked for the garment factory there.
She was a member of St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Meta, and its St. Ann's Sodality.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Joseph J. Struemph, St. Elizabeth, and Bernard H. Struemph, Kansas City.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia Catholic Church. The Rev. John Schutty will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Meta, with a wake service at 6 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society or to Masses.
GEORGE
James Franklin George, 88, California, died April 17, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born July 2, 1910, in Moniteau County, a son of Jesse and Mary Tuttle George. He was married Sept. 18, 1929, in Moniteau County, to Nellie F. Hossman, who died May 21, 1998.
He was a retired farmer in Moniteau County.
Survivors include: five daughters, Shelba Hess, Jamestown, Velma Nichols, Peculiar, Norma Hutchison and Janece McCormick, both of Independence, and Mary Morrison, Harrisonville; two sons, J.R. George, Jamestown, and Arnold George, Independence; one sister, Frances Sears, Jamestown; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Ruth George.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. Chester Marshall will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. today.
POPE
Vernon Pope, 80, Eldon, died April 16, 1999, at Samaritan Hospital, Macon.
He was born Oct. 23, 1918, in Linn Creek, a son of A.M. and Martha E. McDowell Pope. He was married Jan. 5, 1938, in Jefferson City, to Vivian Haynes, who died May 7, 1982.
A lifelong resident of the Lake of the Ozarks area, he operated a boat rental and food-and-tackle sales business below Bagnell Dam and owned and operated Pope Implement Co. in Eldon.
Survivors include: one son, Charles A. Pope, Bowling Green; one daughter, Shirley A. Kleidosty, Eldon; one sister, Pauline Eads, Cleburne, Texas ; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Eldon.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
RUPERT
Billy L. Rupert, 76, Gravois Mills, died April 16, 1999, at Lake of the Ozarks General Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born May 30, 1922, in Kansas City, a son of Roy L. and Ollie L. Michaelson Rupert. He was married March 31, 1941, to Elizabeth Winemiller, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he retired after 32 years of service as a flight engineer for Trans World Airlines in Kansas City.
He was a member of Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dr. Ronald Rupert, Lake Dallas, Texas , and Dr. William Joseph Rupert, Ardmore, Okla.; two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Gianino, Kansas City, and Teresa Coldwell, Camdenton; one brother, Gerald Rupert, San Diego; and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church. The Rev. Fred J. Barnett will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie, with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church.
SCOTT
Fay Scott, 93, California, formerly of High Point, died April 15, 1999.
She was born Jan. 4, 1906, in Proctor, a dau-ghter of Albert and Agnes Jobe Hees. She was married July 17, 1926, in Jefferson City, to Loren Scott, who died Oct. 26, 1975.
A homemaker, she also worked in manufacturing. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church, where she served as an adult Sunday school teacher and as church historian.
Survivors include: three daughters, Billie Sue Kibbons, Campbellsville, Ky., Ronda Connelley, Jefferson City, and Trudy Marthers, The Village, Fla.; eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Mary Lou Fisher, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at High Point Baptist Church. The Rev. Ron Foley will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California.
Memorials are suggested to High Point Baptist Church, High Point, Mo. 65042; or to Missouri River Hospice, 1440 Aaron Ct., Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.
STEENBURGEN
Clara Steenburgen, 92, Russellville, died April 17, 1999, at Eldon Healthcare Center.
She was born May 26, 1906, in Sandy Hook, a daughter of Thomas "Tom" Thompson and Mary T. Howe. She was married Nov. 7, 1925, in Jefferson City, to Floyd Steenburgen, who died April 7, 1977.
A homemaker, she worked eight years at Glaser Bros. as a seamstress. She was a member of Greenridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Darlene Cotten, Russellville; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Two sons and two daughters preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jay Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
