DUKE
Services were Thursday for David Nelson Duke, 50, Liberty, formerly of Jefferson City, who died Dec. 18, 2000, at his home.
He was born Jan. 4, 1950, in Gasden, Ala., a son of the Rev. G. Nelson and Wilma Awbrey Duke, who survive in Liberty. He was married to Marcia Sowell Duke, who survives.
He graduated from Jefferson City High School. He received a bachelor's degree in history from Samford University; a master of divinity degree from Southern Baptist Seminary; and a Ph.D. in 1980 from Emory University.
From 1978-1980 he taught at North Greenville College. He joined the faculty at William Jewell College in 1980, serving as chair of the religion department for many years. He received numerous awards, including the Parkway Distinguished Professorship in 1995, the Missouri Governor's Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1995, and the Carl F. Willard Distinguished Teacher Award in 2000.
Other survivors include: one son, Wesley Duke; one daughter, Hillary Kathryn Duke; and two brothers, Paul Duke, Atlanta, Ga., and John Duke, Richmond, Va.
Services were at Second Baptist Church, Liberty.
Memorials are suggested to the Midwest Center for Holocaust Education; or the David Nelson Duke Fund at William Jewell College.
Arrangements are under the direction of Church-Archer-Pasley Funeral Home, Liberty.
FITZGERALD
Phyllis Ann Fitzgerald, 40, Mokane, died Dec. 21, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
She was born Sept. 16, 1960, a daughter of Earl B. and Rosalyn Distler Fitzgerald. Her mother survives.
She was a graduate of South Callaway High School. She joined the Peace Corps and worked as a bus driver and transportation clerk for the South Callaway School District. She was a member of St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, Mokane.
Other survivors include: one son, Derek Wayne Fitzgerald, Mokane; and two sisters, Patricia Roach, Springfield, Ill., and Rebecca Davis, Quinlin, Texas .
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at South Callaway High School's gymnasium. Fr. Tom Seifner will officiate. Burial will be in Mokane Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. at the gymnasium.

RAPP
Alice Ruth Rapp, 86, Osage Beach, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Osage Beach Health Care Center.
She was born Aug. 11, 1914, in Stover, a daughter of Charles B. and Dorothy "Dollie" Brown Rapp.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Stover.
Survivors include one sister, Alva Gerlt, Versailles.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Charles Kellim and the Rev. James Wainwright will officiate. Burial will be in Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. today at the church.
Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.
RIDDLE
Jo Ann Riddle, 44, Crocker, died Dec. 20, 2000, at General Leonard Wood Hospital, Ft. Leonard Wood.
She was born Dec. 28, 1955, in Fort Hood, Texas , a daughter of Joseph and Jimmie Allen Bigus, who survive in Crocker.
She was an LPN and care provider for Missouri Home Care.
Other survivors include: one son, Johnny Fuller, Crocker; two daughters, Linda Wilson and Bobbie Fuller, both of Crocker; and two brothers, Randy Bigus and Lee Blackwood, both of Crocker.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Crocker. Burial will be in Crocker Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today and from noon- 1 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
BYBEE
Flora Bell Bybee, 86, Columbia, and formerly of Jefferson City, died Dec. 23, 2000, at Williamsburg Nursing Home in Columbia.
She was born May 11, 1914 in Deer Ridge, Lewis County, the daughter of Lewis Mnason and Sarah Dare McClain, who proceeded her in death. She was married March 6, 1936, in Hannibal to Curtis E. Bybee, who died Oct. 21, 1975.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Boonville and graduated from Lewis County High School.
Survivors include: one daughter, Pat Wells, Wooldridge; one brother, Audra L. McClain; and two grandchildren.
Services and burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Masonic Cemetery in California. The Rev. Jeff Martin will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church in Boonville.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services in California.
CARTER
Lois Rowena Carter, 87, Helena, Ark., died Dec. 23, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born June 14, 1913, in Helena, Ark., the daughter of Louis Eugene Berard and Rowena Webster Berard.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, Helena, Ark., and attended the University of Arkansas. She was a music teacher for many years at Sacred Heart Academy in Helena, and later served as a case worker with the Arkansas Department of Social Services. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Helena, where she was church organist and choir director for many years; and a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include: one daughter, Anne W. Maher, Jefferson City; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Marys Catholic Church, Helena, Ark., The Rev. Ed Graves will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Marys Cemetery in Helena.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Roller-Citizen Funeral Home, West Helena, Ark., where a Rosary will be held at 6 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to St. Marys Catholic Church, or Masses.
Arrangements are being handled locally by Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.
GRACY
Evelyn A. Gracy, 87, High Point, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born July 7, 1913, in Gladstone, the daughter of James and Leona Phillips Kays, who preceded her in death. She was married Nov. 17, 1934, in Sedalia to Harold Gracy who died July 17, 1995.
She worked at the Pants Factory in Tipton, and was a homemaker. She was a member of High Point Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir. She was a member of the Friendly Circle Quilters Club and was a 4-H leader.
Survivors include: one son, Ronnie Gracy of Claremore, Okla.; one sister, Lillian Tising, of High Point; two daughters, Connie Bond of Jefferson City and Joan Calvert of Lees Summit; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Roscoe, Claude and Oliver Kays, and two grandsons, Darryl Bond and Gregory Gracy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at High Point Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Foley officiating. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery near Barnett. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services.

HICKAM
Nadine Elizabeth Hickam, 82, Jefferson City, formerly of Denver, died December 23, 2000, at Jefferson City Manor. She was married Aug. 31, 1940, in Boonville, to James A. Hickam, who died Nov. 6, 2000.
She was born July 21, 1918, in Chamois, a daughter of August and Katie Suess Saak. She was a 1936 graduate of Jefferson City High School, and attended Capital City Business College in Jefferson City. She worked as a secretary at Honeywell Inc., in Littleton, Colo., until her retirement. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star in Denver, Colo., serving as worthy matron in 1964.
Survivors include: one daughter, Kathy Peerson, Jefferson City; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren, and six great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Jefferson City Chapel, with the Rev. David Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Hampden Memorial Gardens in Denver.

JOHNSON
Deloris M. Johnson, 72, Jefferson City, died Dec. 22, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born June 19, 1928, in Dallas, Wis., a daughter of Melvin and Edith Rich Huset. She was married March 25, 1950, in Hillsdale, Wis., to Benjamin Johnson, who survives in Jefferson City.
She attended school in Hillsdale, Wis. She was a homemaker and attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. She also volunteered at the Bethany Nursing Home in Fargo, N.D., where she enjoyed baking cookies for the seniors.
Survivors include: three sons, Robert Johnson, San Diego; Steven Johnson, Grand Forks, N.D., and Gary Johnson, Jefferson City; two daughters, Karen Johnson and Kristen Byers, both of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother, Robert Huset, Barron, Wis.; one sister, Eleanor "Kit" Ranum, Ironton, Minn., and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors- Jefferson City Chapel, with the Rev. John Hobratschk officiating. Burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minn.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
