DUNHAM

Janice Lee Dunham, 62, California, died Dec. 23, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Aug. 8, 1938, in Nebraska City, Neb., a daughter of Walter H. and Ida M. Matthews Kunze. Her mo-ther survives in California. She was married July 31, 1954, in Cedar City, to Charles E. "Buddy" Dunham, who survives at the home.

She attended California High School. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church, California.

Other survivors include: three sons, Charlie Dunham, California, Ronnie Dunham, Mountain Grove, and Terry Dunham, Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter, Kathy Bock,  Jefferson City; two brothers, Jimmy Kunze, Columbia, and Kenneth Kunze, California; one sister, Judy Hodge, Eldon; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Moniteau Chapter, in care of Judy Allee, P.O. Box 333, Latham, Mo. 65050.

FERGUSON

Charles Herbert "Herb" Ferguson, 73, Versailles, died Dec. 22, 2000, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born Oct. 31, 1927, in Versailles, a son of Charles H. and Alma May Metcalf Ferguson. He was married to Cloe Ward.

He was a retired chef and an Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include: four sons, Charles Herbert Ferguson Jr., Bill Ferguson and Bob Ferguson, all of Gravois Mills, and David Ferguson, Raytown; two daughters, Pam Richards, Florence, and Angie Raines, Versailles; one brother, Paul Ferguson, state of Texas ; one sister, Lois Schick, Eldon; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial will be in Big Rock Cemetery, near Barnett.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

BOOKOUT

Donald Lee Bookout, 71, Tipton, died Dec. 23, 2000, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born May 30, 1929, in Fortuna, a son of Roy F. and Florence Lawson Bookout. He was married June 29, 1954, in Fortuna, to Merrilyn Hofstetter, who survives at the home.

He was a member and a deacon of the First Christian Church, Tipton. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1949 and was a veteran of the Korean War.

He worked at Tipton Manufacturing Company and the Co-Mo Electric Cooperative, Tipton, as a warehouse supervisor. He was a member of the Tipton American Legion, Post 304 and the Tipton Country Club.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Gloria Profitt, Tipton, and Kay Bookout, Kansas City; one brother Bill Bookout, Tipton; and one grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church. The Rev. Frank Eastman will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church or a charity of the donor's choice.

BRAUN

Mary Ann Schrimpf Braun, 84, Osage Bend, died Dec. 24, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born July 17, 1916, in Russellville, a daughter of Charles and Sophia Van Loo Schrimpf. She was married Oct. 4, 1938, in Wardsville, to Charles J. Braun, who preceded her in death.

A homemaker, she attended St. Stanislaus Catholic School, Wardsville. She was a member of St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church, Osage Bend, and the Over 50 Club.

Survivors include: three sons, Donald Braun,  Jefferson City, and Louis Braun and Dennis Braun, both of Osage Bend; two daughters, Janette Brenneke, Taos, and Marilyn Wilbers, Wardsville; one brother, Charles Schrimpf, Wardsville; two sisters, Pauline Frank and Emmadean Oberschulte, both of Wardsville; 20 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian Driscoll will officiate. Burial will be in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Wardsville.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home,  Jefferson City, with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church or Masses at St. Margaret of Antioch Catholic Church.

DICKINSON

Bruce L. Dickinson, 88, Des Peres, died Dec. 24, 2000, at his home.

He was born Sept. 22, 1912, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a son of Bruce J. and Eva Quick Dickinson. He was married Aug. 3, 1935, in St. Louis, to Faye Olive Lilly, who died March 21, 1987.

He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Mississippi Valley Structural Steel, St. Louis, after 50 years of employment.

Survivors include one half brother, Ted Dickinson, Potosi.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Burial will be in Madden Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-noon Wednesday.

GOANS

Frances Irene Goans, 79,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2000, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Versailles, a daughter of Charlie and Stella McMillan Hoskins.

She was married in April 1972 to Ralph Goans, who survives in  Jefferson City.

She was a retired waitress and nursing home employee.

Other survivors include two stepsons, Ralph L. Goans Jr., Linn, and Richard Goans, Tipton, and one stepdaughter, Deena Underwood, Sweet Springs.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Big Rock Cemetery, near Barnett.

HICKS

Ruby Ilene Hicks, 72, Topeka, Kan., formerly of  Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2000, in Topeka.

She was born Oct. 18, 1928, in Olean, a daughter of Russell and Ada West Thompson. She was married Jan. 10, 1946, in  Jefferson City, to Glen H. Hicks, who died March 21, 1983.

She lived most of her early life in the  Jefferson City area, moving to Topeka in 1967.

Survivors include: four daughters, Martha Johnson,  Jefferson City, Gloria Diehm, Osawatomie, Kan., Lorene Dunbar, Topeka, and Glenda Sue Wright, Paola, Kan.; three sons, Melvin Hicks, Russell Hicks and Carl Hicks, all of Topeka; one brother, Herbert Thompson, Kansas City, Kan.; one sister, Francis Miles, San Antonio, Texas ; 23 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

One daughter, Linda G. Johnson, died Nov. 21, 2000.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Parker-Price Mortuary, Topeka. Burial will be in Topeka Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Ruby I. Hicks Memorial Fund, in care of Commerce Bank and Trust, 3174 SE 6th, Topeka, Kan. 66607.

LAKE

Services were today for Jeanette Marsh Lake, 43, Eugene, who died Dec. 22, 2000, in  Jefferson City.

She was born March 24, 1957, in Independence, a daughter of Dale and Shirley Bradshaw Marsh. Her father and stepmother, Dale and Lois Marsh, survive in Eldon. Her mother survives in Wichita, Kan. She was married Aug. 31, 1991, in Brazito, to Robert L. Lake, who survives at the home.

She was a homemaker and ran Lakota Stables. She was a member of the Eldon Saddle Club, Hickory Hill Saddle Club and the Saddle Bags. She was coordinator for the Missouri Equine Council.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Angela Lake, Wichita; one stepdaughter, Ashley Lake, Russellville; one stepson, Justin Lake, Linn; two sisters, Karen K. Gallardo and Martha Wildes, both of Wichita; one stepbrother, Michael Hutchens, Eldon; three stepsisters, Becky Connell,  Jefferson City, Lisa Burnop, Eldon, and Rhonda Johnson, Versailles; and maternal grandmother, Ethel Bradshaw, Wichita.

Services were at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Lex Smith officiated. Burial was private.

Memorials are suggested to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation or Therapeutic Riding Center.

REID

Services were today for Shirley Jean Arnold Buffington Reid, 67, Holts Summit, who died Dec. 22, 2000, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.

She was born Dec. 11, 1933, near  Jefferson City, a daughter of Earl and Velma Luster Arnold, who survive in California. She was married to Cecil Buffington, who died in 1973. She was married in 1975 to Jack Reid, who died Oct. 22, 2000.

She worked at California Manufacturing and Westinghouse Electric Company. She attended school in Wichita Falls, Texas , and graduated from Central Institute of the Deaf, St. Louis. She had lived in California.

Other survivors include one daughter, Connie Jean Buffington Choate, Fulton, and four granchildren.

Services were at at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Nick Dignan officiated. Burial was in California City Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, 1316 Parkade Blvd., P.O. Box 1013, Columbia, Mo. 65205.
