HUMPHREY

Ernest Carl "Ernie" Humphrey, 51, Topeka, Kan., formerly of  Jefferson City, died Dec. 23, 2000, at his home.

He was born Oct. 18, 1949, a son of Carl M. and Margaret Todd Humphrey. His father survives in  Jefferson City.

He was a 1967 graduate of  Jefferson City High School and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He also is survived by one brother, William Humphrey, Dayton, Ohio.

Services, with military honors, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Mindy Kiepe will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Fayette.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Mid-Missouri Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association, 1121 Business Loop 70 East, Columbia, Mo. 65201.

HOECKER

Catherine M. Hoecker, 92, St. Elizabeth, died Dec. 26, 2000, at her home.

She was born March 15, 1908, in St. Elizabeth, a daughter of Joseph H. and Anna Dickneite Bax. She was married April 26, 1933, in St. Elizabeth, to Herbert Victor Hoecker, who died Dec. 10, 1982.

A homemaker, she worked at L.B. Manufacturing, Meta, and was a clerk at MFA Grocery, St. Elizabeth.

She was a member of the St. Elizabeth WPFA Club, St. Lawrence Catholic Church, St. Elizabeth, and St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include: two sons, Alfred Hoecker and Wilfred Hoecker, both of St. Elizabeth; two daughters, Lois Lueckenhoff,  Jefferson City, and Marcella Gaske, Glenview, Ill.; one brother, Anton Bax, St. Elizabeth; one sister, Martha Berendzen,  Jefferson City; 17 grandchildren; and 34 great-grandchildren.

Three grandchildren preceded her in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church. The Rev. John Degnan will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, St. Elizabeth, with a senior citizens rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a rosary at 7 p.m.

LEGG

Dennis L. Legg, 52, Bartow, Fla., formerly of  Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2000, in Fort Lonesome, Fla.

He was born Feb. 28, 1948, in Missouri, a son of Clifford W. and Mary Ann Luadzers Legg. He was married to Mary M. Legg, who survives at the home.

He was a vice president with Superior Coatings, Mulberry. He was a graduate of Lincoln University. He was a perpetual member of Imperial Polk Masonic Lodge 345 F and AM.

He was a member of Peace Creek Baptist Church, Bartow.

He was Masonic lodge secretary; past Masonic lodge master in 1997; past president of Master and Wardens Association in 1998; president elect for the Florida Council of Painting and Decorating Contractors of America; dharter member of T-Bucket Association; Mulberry American Legion Post 72; and National Street Rod Association.

He was a former coach of the Bartow Dixie Youth Baseball; a past director of Bartow Oaks School; member of Walking Horse Owners Association; and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was an Army veteran.

Other survivors include: two sons, Ian J. Legg and Nathan Legg, both of Bartow; one brother, Clark R. Legg,  Jefferson City; and one grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Peace Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Paul E. Parrish will officiate. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Bartow.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Whidden-McLean Funeral Home, Bartow.

LANGLOIS

Janet Harriet Langlois, 62, Linn Creek, died Dec. 23, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

She was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Clinton, Mass., a daughter of William and Jeannette Bernier Hamel. She was married April 12, 1957, to Paul Langlois, who survives in Linn Creek.

She graduated from high school in Clinton in 1955. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Camdenton.

She was employed by Davol Medical Company, West Warwick, R.I., and attended Johnson and Wells College, Providence. She moved to St. Peters in 1980. She was a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative and worked for the state of Missouri. She moved to Linn Creek in 1989. She worked for the Lake Sun Leader until retiring.

Other survivors include: four daughters, Mary A. Green, Teresa M. Burlison and Anita M. Drane, all of St. Charles, and Karen A. Morrison, Montreal; two sisters, Marie Poynta and Francis Turcotte, both of Clinton; one brother, Robert Hamel, Sterling, Mass.; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, St. Charles. The Rev. Kevin Mahoney will officiate. Burial will be in the Cemetery of Our Lady, Dardenne.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton, with a rosary at 6 p.m.

MERRIOTT

Eugene Merriott, 87, Versailles, died Dec. 26, 2000, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

He was born Aug. 19, 1913, in Gravois Mills, a son of Ona Merriott and Latham Fletcher. He was married Aug. 31, 1950, to Reva J. Brown, who survives at the home.

He was an aircraft machinist. He ran a taxi service in the Versailles area and was a self-employed truck driver.

Other survivors include one son, David Merriott, Versailles, and two grandchildren.

His stepfather, Henry Akin, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman and the Rev. William Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

McCUBBIN

Jack J. McCubbin, 76, Independence, died Dec. 21, 2000, at Independence Regional Health Center.

He was born Nov. 18, 1924, in Carlinville, Ill., a son of Clyde and Ella Shepherd McCubbin. He was married in 1966, in New York City, to Lisa Dreyer, who survives in Independence.

He graduated from Iberia Academy in 1944 and attended Iberia Junior College. He earned a master's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1951.

He was a highway inspector for the Missouri Highway Department until his retirement in 1982. He operated Mac's Cool Shop, Independence, from 1987 to 2000.

Other survivors include: two sons, Boris John McCubbin and Ivar Dale McCubbin, both of Knoxville, Tenn.; two brothers, Dennis McCubbin, Lancaster, and Giles McCubbin, St. Louis; and one sister, Ruby Spearman, Iberia.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will be in Hickory Point Cemetery, near Iberia.

Visitation will be form 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.

SCHWENSEN

Olga Christine Schwensen, 100, Abilene, Texas , formerly of Versailles, died Dec. 25, 2000, at her home.

She was born April 29, 1900, near Stover, a daughter of Gustav and Christina Wittrock Roiter. She was married Aug. 30, 1920, in Stover, to Charles J. Schwensen, who died Nov. 25, 1957.

She farmed and raised Hereford cattle near Cole Camp. She then moved to Versailles where she worked for Dr. Charles Eppright in his veterinary clinic. She had been a resident of Abilene since 1976.

She was a member of the United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cole Camp.

Survivors include one daughter, Charlene Ricketts, Abilene, three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cole Camp. The Rev. Duane Levin will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Sedalia.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to United Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover.

THIRLWALL

Hunter R. Thirlwall, infant daughter of Josh Thirlwall and Jaime Morris,  Jefferson City, died Dec. 24, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Nov. 22, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center. Her parents survive at the home.

Other survivors include: maternal grandmother, Rebecca Horton-Siegel, Holts Summit; maternal grandfather and step grandmother, Doug and Carol McKinney,  Jefferson City; paternal grandparents, Sam and Peggy Evans,  Jefferson City; and maternal great-grandparents, Frank and Lissie Morris, Holts Summit, and Jean Bonnot,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 7 p.m. Friday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Joe Skiles will officiate. Graveside services will be at 9:15 a.m. Saturday in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Hunter R. Thirlwall Memorial Fund.
