AMOS

Virgil L. Amos, 61, Mexico, died Dec. 28, 2000, at Audrain Medical Center, Mexico.

He was born March 2, 1939, in Eldon, a son of Delmar W. and Cecil Marie Procter Amos. He was married in 1992, in Mexico, to Nadine Johnson, who survives.

He was a lift truck operator at Wellsville Firebrick Company. He was a member of the National Guard and Grand Prairie Baptist Church, Auxvasse.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Penny Burton, Vandalia, and Betty Blakely, Mexico; four sons, Larry Johnson, Ronnie Johnson and Bobby Johnson, all of Mexico, and Donnie Johnson, Peculiar; and 12 grandchildren.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Pickering Funeral Home, Mexico. The Rev. Marvin Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.

Visitation will be from noon-1:30 p.m. Sunday.

BLUM

Elaine E. Blum, 71, Eldon, died Dec. 26, 2000, in Mesa, Ariz..

She was born March 2, 1929, in Ft. Collins, Colo., a daughter of Alex and Zella Burris Evanoff. She was married Nov. 24, 1948, in Ft. Collins, to Charles J. Blum, who survives at the home.

She was co-owner and operator of the Sears Catalog Order Store, Eldon. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Eldon, the CWF and the Eldon Country Club. She was a chairperson of the service committee for six years and was active in Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was the secretary at the First Christian Church.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Kathy MacDonald, Phoenix; and two grandchildren.

One son, Charles A. Blum, died Feb. 1, 1965.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church of Eldon. The Rev. Walter D. Simpson will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens, Barnett.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church of Eldon or the American Heart Association.

KOPPI

Patrick Davis Koppi, 34, of the Ivy Bend Community, Stover, died Dec. 28, 2000, at St. Marys Health Center,  Jefferson City.

He was born March 22, 1966, in Slidell, La., the son of Ridgway and Mary Ellen McDonald Koppi, who survive in Stover. He was married Sept. 27, 1998, to Shelly Longstreet, who survives.

He attended his first three years of high school in Saudi Arabia and later graduated high school from Walland Academy, Knoxville, Tenn.

He attended community college in Sedalia for two years before returning to  Louisiana where he worked in a shipyard. He later worked as a welding foreman at Paul's Welding in Laurie.

Other survivors include: one son, Patrick Koppi, at the home; four brothers, Michael Koppi, Corona, Calif., Paul Koppi, Stover, James Koppi, Riverside, Calif., Timothy Koppi, Bakersfield, Calif.; two sisters, Debora Koppi, Kansas City, and Mary Kathleen Koppi, Lacombe, La.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Shrine of Saint Patrick Catholic Church, Laurie. The Rev. Gerard Poelker will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at the Kidwell-Garber Laurie-Sunrise Beach Chapel, Laurie, where a Rosary service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

MURRAY

Services for Patricia Ann Murray, 52,  Jefferson City, who died Dec. 26, 2000, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Assembly of God. Pastor Lowell Perkins will officiate.

LEINBACH

Richard M. Leinbach, an infant, Versailles, was stillborn Dec. 30, 2000, at the family home.

He was the son of Abel N. and Esther M. Zimmerman Leinbach, Versailles.

Other survivors include: a sister, Mary Beth Leinbach, at the home; a brother, Lawrence Leinbach, at the home; paternal grandparents Amos and Katie Leinbach, Versailles; maternal grandparents, Daniel and Ada Zimmerman, Barnett; paternal great-grandfather, John Leinbach, Versailles; and maternal great-grandparents, Weaver and Lydia Zimmerman, Terre Hill, Pa.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Excelsior Mennonite Church, near Versailles. Raymond Shirk, Raymond Stauffer and Samuel Shirk will officiate. Burial will be in the Excelsior Mennonite Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.

BATTEN

The Rev. Mildra Batten, 64, Columbia, died Dec. 27, 2000, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

She was born July 10, 1936, in Scotland, Ga., a daughter of Willie Batten and Sadie Parker Batten. Her mother survives in Alamo, Ga. She was married to Richard Wilson Jr., who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Wheeler County High School in Scotland and then graduated from Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Ga.

Other survivors include: five sons, Richard Wilson III, Union City, Ga., Willie B. Wilson, West Hills, Calif., Joseph B. Wilson, Columbia, David M. Wilson, Van Nuys, Calif., and Elijah A. Williams,  Jefferson City; three brothers, Harvey Batten, McRae, Ga., Wilmar Batten, Merritt Island, Fla., Preston Batten Sr., Atlanta, Ga.; five sisters, Rachael Anthony, New Orleans, La., Conyues O'Neal, Dublin, Ga., Dedra O'Connor, Minneapolis, Minn., Karen Batten, Alamo, Ga., Barbara Griffin, Decatur, Ga.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Progressive Baptist Church, Columbia. Bishop Harold Long, Paris, will officiate. Burial will be in the Columbia City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren Funeral Chapel, Columbia.

BEAL

Stella M. Beal, 87, Independence, died June 27, 2001, at Independence Health Care.

She was born Sept. 23, 1913, in Washington County, a daughter of Walter and Roberta Crain. She was married to Milburn Beal, who died March 13, 1973.

A homemaker, she lived with her husband in Camdenton until she moved to Independence six years ago. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church, Camdenton; American Legion Auxiliary, the Forty-Niners Club, and the Senior Citizen's Association.

Survivors include: two daughters, Janet Sue O'Neal, Newport Coast, Calif., and Roetta Clark, Independence; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dean Rooffener will officiate.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

FERRIMAN

Barbara H. Ferriman 95, Jacksonville, Ill., died June 28, 2001, at Pittsfield Manor, Pittsfield, Ill.

She was born Aug. 4, 1905, in LaGrange, Ill., a daughter of Lemoine S. and Maude Hinman Hatch. She was married June 17, 1929, in LaGrange, to Myron Robert "Bob" Ferriman who died May 17, 1993.

She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, Jacksonville.

Survivors include: a son, Rob Ferriman,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Jean Schone, Jacksonville and Beth Ahlborn, Magness, Ark.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 6 step-grandchildren; and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

The Burial Office is 10 a.m. Monday at Trinity Episcopal Church. Burial is in Diamond Grove Cemetery, Jacksonville.

Visitation is noon-5 p.m. Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Episcopal Church.

LANE

Novella R. Lane, 85,  Jefferson City, died June 29, 2001, at the  Jefferson City Manor Nursing Center.

She was born July 25, 1915, in Puxico, a daughter of Jesse and Esther Ellis Christian. She was married Oct. 15, 1938, in Bloomfield, to Raymond "Pat" Lane, who survives.

She attended school in rural Stoddard County and lived in  Jefferson City since 1988. She was a homemaker and a member of the Capital City Christian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Other survivors include: one son, Jerry L. Lane,  Jefferson City; one brother, Willis "Putt" Christian, Puxico; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Capital City Christian Church. The Rev. Gary Baker will officiate. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Freeman Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the Capital City Christian Church.

SHERRILL

Homer Sherrill, 74, Camdenton, died June 29, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 6, 1926, in Hogan, a son of Elzie and Clara Sherrill. He was married Feb. 16, 1973, to Rosemary Atkinson, who survives.

He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European theater and in the Phillipine Islands.

He worked for Dairy Service, St. Louis, for over 20 years. In 1977 he moved with his wife to the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a member of the Lake Ozark Shrine Club; Walk of Water Faith Church; and Abou Ben Adham Temple, Springfield.

Other survivors include: three sons, Michael E. Sherrill, Ballwin, Steven A. Sherrill, Waterloo, Ill., and Leon Sherrill, Camdenton; two daughters, Diana Dunne and Susan Eisenger, both of Naples, Fla.; three step-daughters, Barbara Frese,  Jefferson City, Janet Owen, LeMay, and Karen Reed, Camdenton; four brothers, Lloyd Sherrill, Arnold, Leo Sherrill, Jasksonville, Fla., LeRoy Sherrill, Lake City, Fla., and Bill Sherrill, Washington ; two sisters, Arlene Pratt, Poplar Bluff, and Mary Ann Bennett, Pilot Knob; 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in Roach Cemetery.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri Kidney Foundation or to the Show Me Christian Youth Home.
