DOSS
Carol Doss, 56, Chesterfield, died Jan. 7, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 12, 1944, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Marvin and Juanita McDaniel. Her parents survive in Jefferson City. She was married to Frank Doss, who survives at the home.
She was a flight attendant with Ozark Airlines and TWA Airlines. She was a graduate of John F. Hodge High School, St. James. She attended Lincoln University and Washington University, where she studied voice and piano.
She was a member of the Order of the Easter Star Chapter 224, Defiance, and she was a volunteer at Christian Northwest Hospital, Florissant. She was a member of the Grace Methodist Church, St. Louis, and sang in the choir. She taught baton twirling and dancing in St. James.
Other survivors include: two stepsons, Leonard Doss, San Antonio, Texas , and Frank Doss III, state of Illinois; one sister, Kay Tudor, St. Charles; and two step grandchildren.
No services are planned. The remains were cremated.
Arrangements are under the direction of St. Louis Cremation.
HAZLETT
Oren Lee Hazlett, 8, Williamsburg, died Jan. 10, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1992, in Fulton, a son of Joseph I. and Lisa Renee Jones Hazlett. His parents survive at the home.
He was a second-grade student at Williamsburg Elementary School.
Other survives include: two brothers, Matthew Hazlett and Brandon Hazlett, both of the home; maternal grandparents, Dorothy Goucher, Williamsburg, and Raymond Jones, New Bloomfield; and paternal grandparents, Sue Hazlett, Auxvasse, and Joe Hazlett, Williamsburg.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Rick Ballard will officiate. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Fulton.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.
KLEIN
Susanna Blanch Kevil Klein, 82, Little Rock, Ark., formerly of Jefferson City, died Jan. 10, 2001, at University Medical Center, Little Rock.
She was born May 10, 1918, in Syracuse, a daughter of Harry P. and Anna May Siegel. She was married to Elmer Floyd Klein Sr., who died in 1995.
She was a purchasing agent for the state of Missouri for more than 15 years. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Robert Moore Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two sons, Mark Kevil Klein, Jefferson City, and Dr. Bud Klein, Little Rock, and five grandchildren.
Private graveside services will be in Tipton.
Memorials are suggested to the Robert Moore Sunday School Class, Asbury United Methodist Church, 1700 Napa Valley Rd., Little Rock, Ark., 72205.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ruebel Funeral Home, Little Rock.
PETERS
Mary E. Peters, 66, Jefferson City, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Friendship House.
She was born Dec. 5, 1934, in Macks Creek, a daughter of Allen and Ethel Charlton Willey. She was married in 1953 to Paul Huber, who died in 1984. She was married June 28, 1986, in Oceanside, Calif., to Darvin Peters, who survives at the home.
She was a homemaker.
Other survivors include: one son, David Huber, Long Beach, Calif.; three daughters, Tee Ann Huber, Macks Creek, Paula Gibason, Springfield, and Mara Johnson, Jefferson City; one stepson, Darvin Peters Jr., country of Mexico; two stepdaughters, Danette Stewart, Valley Center, Calif., and Darcy Peters, Escondido, Calif.; one brother, Jim Willey, Macks Creek; two sisters, Rosa Christenson, Macks Creek, and Janice Leggett, Salem, Ore.; four grandchildren; and five step grandchildren.
One daughter, Lisa Huber, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. The Rev. Paul Stephens will officiate. Burial will be in Green Cemetery, Macks Creek.
QUINN
Kenneth Wayne Quinn, 60, Jefferson City, died Jan. 11, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born March 9, 1940, in Guthrie, a son of Kenneth U. and Anna Belle Vaughn Quinn. His father survives in Porterville, Calif. He was married Dec. 30, 1957, in Ashland, to Shirley Burks, who survives.
A lifelong resident of Central Missouri, he attended New Bloomfield schools. He was employed by the Jefferson City Police Department. Later, he was a deputy with the Cole County and Callaway County sheriff's departments until his retirement. He was a member of the Baptist Church and the Fraternal Order of Police.
Other survivors include: his fiancée, Helen Farr, Jefferson City; one son, Ronald W. Quinn, Jefferson City; two daughters, Connie A. Castrop, Centertown, and Sheila L. Davidson, Hartsburg; two stepsons, Bill Farr Jr. and Michael J. Farr, both of Jefferson City; one stepdaughter, Debby J. Hertzing, Linn; one brother, James D. Quinn, Knob Knoster; six grandchildren; eight step grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Freeman Mortuary. The Rev. Michael Quinn will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association, or the American Cancer Society.
VOGEL
Violette L. "Vi" Vogel, 79, Osage Beach, died Jan. 10, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Nov. 21, 1921, in Rover, a daughter of Josh and Sally Jones Murphy. She was married March 20, 1949, to Gill Vogel, who survives at the home.
She graduated from high school in West Plains, then moved to St. Louis where she worked in a restaurant. She co-owned and co-operated the Little Eat Moor restaurant in St. Louis for 20 years. She moved to Osage Beach in 1966 and co-operated the Nantucket Cove Resort for 16 years. She worked for Century 21 in sales until her retirement.
She was a member of Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. She was a founder of Lake Ozark Money Maker Investment Club and worked with the Newcomers-Longtimers Club. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and an election poll worker.
She also is survived by two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Sally Ann Vander Valde, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Harper Chapel United Methodist Church. The Rev. Bob Hickman will officiate. Burial will be in Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation.
LIGHT
James "Red" Light, 50, Vienna, died Jan. 11, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born Oct. 8, 1950, in Independence, a son of Alfred and Wilma Buelterman Light. His mother and stepfather, Wilma and Art Helton, survive in Rolla. He was married April 11, 1987, in Belle, to Jo Ann Fenton, who survives at the home.
He was a self-employed carpenter.
Other survivors include: one son, Jason Light, Greenville; two daughters, Stephanie Gerstacker and Roshon Gerstacker, both of St. Louis; two sisters, Pam Light Murphy, St. Robert, and Kay Light Pope, Freeburg; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Visitation Catholic Church, Vienna. The Rev. John Schmitz will officiate.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Monday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
Memorials are suggested to Visitation Church and School Memorial Fund.
DERR
A memorial service for Helen M. Derr, 78, Jefferson City, who died Dec. 17, 2000, at Oak View Living Center, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders Association.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
PETERS
McKenna Karen Peters, infant daughter of Kevin L. and Amie D. Schanzmeyer Peters, died Jan. 12, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center. Her parents survive in Loose Creek.
Other survivors include: one brother, Logan Peters, of the home; two sisters, Carson Peters and Mason Peters, both of the home; parental grandparents, Larry Peters and Kathryn Peters, both of Loose Creek; maternal grandparents, August Schanzmeyer and Clara Schanzmeyer, both Koeltztown; and paternal great-grandmother, Ralph "Betty" Bailey, Loose Creek.
Private services will be held today.
Memorials are suggested to Immaculate Conception School, Loose Creek.

ABER
Elaine Miller Aber, 84, Jefferson City, died Jan. 12, 2001, at the Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Feb. 21, 1916, at Hope, a daughter of William S. and Amanda Lemmel Miller.
She was married in June 1940 to Lawrence Marion Aber, who died Jan. 3, 1981.
She attended Central Missouri State Teachers College, Warrensburg, beginning in 1935, but didn't graduate.
Her family moved to Jefferson City in 1947. She graduated from Lincoln University in 1957, and later earned a master's degree in education from LU and a master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She worked as a counselor for the Missouri State Employment Services in Jefferson City until she retired in 1985. She was a board member of the Missouri Association for Social Welfare. She served on the board of the Sheltered Workshop since it opened. She was a charter member of the Memorial Community Hospital Auxiliary.
She was a member of the National Federation of Women's Clubs and the Jefferson City Women's Club; the Jefferson Chapter OES; the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People; the Southern Poverty Law Center; the AARP; the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees; the Missouri Women's Network; the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority; and the Historical Societies of Missouri and of Cole and Osage counties.
She was a charter member of the Community Christian Church and previously was a member of the First Christian Church. She served on the regional and national boards of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She was a member of Jefferson City's Church Women United.
Survivors include: two sons, William L. Aber, Jefferson City, and Max David Aber, Lee's Summit; two daughters, Roberta E. Aber, Akron, Ohio, and Eden Aber McCuskey, Darmstadt, Germany; four sisters, Fern Mayes, Jefferson City, Jean Cull, Clinton, Maxine Looney, Springfield, and Eloise Schaeperkoetter, Mt. Sterling; and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Community Christian Church, with the Rev. David Avery officiating.
Visitation will follow the services, with a reception.
Memorials are suggested to the Community Christian Church Building Expansion Fund, the Lincoln University Scholarship Fund or the Missouri Association for Social Welfare.
