WEDIG
George A. Wedig, 77, Lake Ozark, died Jan. 21, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born Nov. 27, 1923, in Chicago, a son of Emil and Elizabeth Fabricius Wedig. He was married Nov. 23, 1946, in Chicago, to Lorraine Mack, who survives in Lake Ozark.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, American Legion Post 229 and VFW Post 6514, all in Lake Ozark, and Elks Lodge, New Port Richey, Fla.
He was a retired meat cutter for Jewel Supermarket, Chicago. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include: two sons, James Wedig, Lake Ozark, and Jeff Wedig, Round Lake, Ill.; two daughters, Joy Nile, Overland Park, Kan., and Jean Pettinger, Gurnee, Ill.; one brother, Raymond Wedig, Redding, Calif.; two sisters, Ida Semerau, Park Ridge, Ill., and Claire Kostal, Lombard, Ill.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Santa Maria Catholic Church, Mundelein, Ill. Inurnment will be at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach.
WINGRATH
Florence Mary Wingrath, 87, Linn, died Jan. 21, 2001, at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs.
She was born Nov. 12, 1913, in Rich Fountain, a daughter of Fred H. and Elizabeth Bexten Neuner. She was married Nov. 20, 1937, in Kirkwood, to Christian Wingrath, who died June 11, 1965.
She was a member of St. George Church, Linn, and St. Ann's Sodality. She was the owner of Green Gables Restaurant, Linn, for 15 years, and was employed by Cheeseborough Ponds until her retirement.
Survivors include: one son, James Paul Wingrath, Blue Springs; two brothers, Fred A. Neuner, Linn, and Elston Neuner, Taos; two sisters, Catherine Hartnett, St. Louis, and Louise Velker, Kirkwood; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. George Church, Linn. The Rev. Paul Hartley will officiate. Burial will be in St. George Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Memorials are suggested to the Kidney Foundation, Columbia, Mo., or St. George School.
ZIMMERMAN
Frances "Fran" Zimmerman, 80, Eldon, died Jan. 22, 2001, in Jefferson City.
She was born Sept. 21, 1920, in Cleveland, a daughter of Anton and Marie Losier Cerne. She was married in 1972, in Eastlake, Ohio, to Wilbert K. Zimmerman, who died Dec. 12, 1988.
She was an assembly line worker at Leece-Neville, Cleveland, before retiring. She moved from Cleveland to Eldon in October.
Survivors include: three sons, Alex Carson, Cincinnati, John Carson, Rockford, Ill., and Wayne Baker, Chicago; one daughter, Marlene Atterberry, Eldon; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Gilbert Pearson will officiate.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
CAMPBELL
Steven W. Campbell, 36, Macks Creek, died Jan. 22, 2001, at Ozark Care Center, Osage Beach.
He was born June 26, 1964, in Macks Creek, a son of Don and Hilda Charlton Campbell. His mother survives in Macks Creek.
He worked with his parents as a farmer.
Other survivors include: one brother, Ron Campbell, Macks Creek; and one sister, Lora Reynolds, Grant City.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek. Burial will be in Little Niangua Cemetery, Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
REDEL
Shirley Redel, 65, Camdenton, died Jan. 23, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born July 12, 1935, in Highpoint, N.C., a daughter of Chester and Julia Beard McCallister. She was married in August 1975 to Oscar Redel, who survives at the home.
She owned and operated Shirley's Homestead Family Restaurant in Camdenton for 12 years.
Other survivors include: one son, Charles Dolton Lowe, Macks Creek; three daughters, Shirl Redd, St. Louis, Lydia Sandler, Hot Springs, Ark., and Kathy Huggins, Clover, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
One daughter, Geneva Watts, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. Burial will be in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
FARRIS
Donald E. Farris, 72, Eldon, died Jan. 22, 2001, in Jefferson City.
He was born July 13, 1928, in Miller County, a son of David E. and Dora Ellen Brown Farris. He was married to Mary Sue Cross Brown, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was an over-the-road driver for ABF in Little Rock, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union for 24 years. He was a member of Spring Garden Baptist Church and Arlington American Legion Post 599, Arlington, Texas .
Other survivors include: two daughters, Robin Barry, Eldon, and Donna Farris, Russellville; two sons, David Farris, Eldon, and Chuck Brown, Colorado City, Texas ; two sisters, Jena Pearon, Lohman, and Florence Ekstam, Eldon; one brother, Thomas Vernon Farris, Eldon; and 10 grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Eldon. The Rev. Randall Bunch and Pastor Todd Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
KOSKY
Richard M. Kosky Jr., 69, Fulton, died Jan. 22, 2001, at his home.
He was born July 13, 1931, in Farmington, a son of Richard Sr. and Lutie May Sims Kosky. He was married to Norma Jean McClatchey, who died Jan. 17, 1959.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, he worked as an electrician for Local Union 1 in St. Louis, retiring in 1984.
He also farmed and raised cattle in the Calwood area.
Survivors include: one son, Kenneth Kosky, Steedman; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. Bruce Williamson will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Saturday.
HANSEN
Carl E. Hansen, 86, Versailles, died Jan. 23, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.
He was born April 12, 1914, in Williams, Iowa, a son of Joe and Matilda Hansen. He was married in 1948 to Ferol Graves, who survives.
He retired from Chesebrough Ponds USA in Jefferson City.
Other survivors include: one son, Stephen E. Hansen, Independence; one sister, Hazel Christenson, Spencer, Iowa; two grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Thursday.
BEXTEN
Stanley Joseph Bexten, 58, Westphalia, died Jan. 23, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Sept. 23, 1942, in Westphalia, a son of Leo and Agnes Baumhoer Bexten.
He attended St. Joseph School, Westphalia. He worked for Fred Holterman Logging and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia.
Survivors include: four brothers, James Bexten and Thomas Bexten, both of Hoquiam, Wash., Albert Bexten and Randy Bexten, both of Westphalia; and three sisters, Arlene Heckman and Dorothy Birge, both of Wardsville, and Pauline Amsinger, Eldon.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Westphalia, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
CALKIN
Hazel Virginia Payne Calkin, 92, Springfield, died Jan. 23, 2001, in Springfield.
She was born June 2, 1908, in Pennytown, a daughter of Charles M. and Frances Scrimager Payne. She was married Jan. 1, 1926, in Tuscumbia, to Farrel Marvin "Cal" Calkin, who died April 9, 1975.
A homemaker, she was a member of Charity Baptist Church, Springfield, and a past member of Eldon Eastern Star.
Survivors include: one son, Bill Calkin, Sapulpa, Okla.; one daughter, Janice Calkin, Springfield; three sisters, Olive Welsh, Sedalia, Geraldine Matlock, Sun City, Ariz., and Ila Sand, Olathe, Kan.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Charity Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Tuscumbia Cemetery. Kenneth Gaines will officiate.
Visitation will be from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.
