WILSON
Lloyd Lee Wilson, 53, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Jan. 24, 2001.
Wilson was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Survivors include: his mother, Miriam Kitchens; three sisters, Phyllis Gilpin, Ardella Chase and Sharon Mullins; and a daughter, ShyAnn Wilson.
Memorial services were held Saturday morning at the Barto Funeral Chapel, with his brother-in-law, Rev. Walter Gilpin officiating. A visitation was held prior to the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations toward final expenses or ShyAnn's education are suggested.
BURTON
Eugene Burton, 90, Jefferson City, died Jan. 27, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 22, 1910, in Chafee, a son of Francis M. and Emmie E. Clayton Burton. He was married Feb. 10, 1934, in Kennett, to Hattie Moore, who died April 20, 1996.
He attended schools in Chaffe and Kennett. He was a machinist for St. Louis Die Casting for more than 45 years.
He owned and operated Burton's Confectionery, St. Louis, for 14 years. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Survivors include: two daughters, Ruby Moore and Gerry Goff, both of Jefferson City; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, Obie Clubb, who died Jan. 1, 1998, and one daughter, Joann Burton, who died in 1936.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Stephen H. Buchholz and the Rev. Harvel Sanders will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
COURTER
Services were today for Mildred E. Courter, 92, Sunrise Beach, who died Jan. 26, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Jan. 28, 1908, in Nevada, a daughter of William and Sadie McEwin Strode. She was married April 3, 1956, in Camdenton, to George M. Courter, who died Oct. 3, 1972.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include one nephew, William W. Strode, North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, and one niece, Yvonne Prevo, McKinney, Texas .
Services were in Kingdom Hall Church, Camdenton. Inurnment will be at a later date in Dale Blair Cemetery, Camdenton.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
HUNTER
Norma Ruth Hunter, 79, Camdenton, died Jan. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born July 7, 1921, in Tunas, a daughter of Hanford and Sarah Watkins Lee. She was married Dec. 26, 1941, in Reno, Nev., to Martin Dee Hunter, who died April 22, 1991.
A homemaker, she had operated the Truckport Cafe.
She was a member of Hopewell Freewell Baptist Church, Tunas.
Survivors include: one son, Gilbert Hunter, Macks Creek; six daughters, Joyce Wallander, Mary Shadrick, Donna Moreland, and Jeannie Klinginsmith, all of Camdenton, Barbara Hanks, Chanute, Kan., and Diann Dudley, Macks Creek; six sisters, Ruby Miller, Bessie West and Glessie Birdwell, all of Buffalo, Maxine Mayer and Mary Stidham, both of the state of California, and Vivian Sackett, state of Virginia; 19 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
One great-grandson preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Dean Rooffener and the Rev. Paul Burns will officiate. Burial will be in Stanton Chapel Cemetery, Macks Creek.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.
JAMES
Ruth E. James, 76, Desloge, died Jan. 28, 2001, at her home.
She was born Jan. 30, 1924, in Essex, a daughter of Oscar and Lillie Johnson Baird. She was married to Dorwin A. James, who survives in Desloge.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Desloge.
Other survivors include: two sons, Jerry James, Jefferson City, and Jim James, Desloge; one daughter, Elizabeth James, Desloge; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home, Desloge. The Rev. Doug Elders and the Rev. Donald Stanley will officiate. Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery.
Visitation will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Desloge.
PARISH
Services were today for Dreama Jane Parish, 82, Decaturville, who died Jan. 26, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
She was born Oct. 18, 1918, near Decaturville, a daughter of William H. and Nellie Elizabeth Crall Parish.
She was a homemaker and worked on the family cattle farm. She was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors include two brothers, Arley Parish, Stoutland, and Ben Parish, Camdenton.
Services were held at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. John Pulley officiated. Burial was in Garrison Cemetery, near Decaturville.
POWELL
Lillian Fern Powell, 89, Iberia, died Jan. 28, 2001, at St. Elizabeth Care Center, St. Elizabeth.
She was born Oct. 23, 1911, in Iberia, a daughter of Albert D. and Myrtle Blankenship Vaughn. She was married Dec. 24, 1932, in Tuscumbia, to Jeptha Thomas Powell Sr., who died Dec. 27, 1978.
A homemaker, she had been a member of Iberia First Christian Church since 1921. She was active in church where she taught Sunday School. She raised dogs and was employed with L.B. Manufacturing, Iberia. She was a member of Iberia American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 105 and Iberia Community Club.
Survivors include: three sons, William D. Powell, Iberia, Gary D. Powell, Springfield, and Jeptha T. Powell Jr., Marshfield; two sisters, Thelma Brooker, Columbia, and Lorene Morrow, St. Louis; 11 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Two great-grandsons preceded her in death
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Iberia First Christian Church. The Rev. Stan Way will officiate. Burial will be in Livingston Cemetery, near Iberia.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia.
Memorials are suggested to Iberia First Christian Church Building Fund.
WEDDLE
Services were today for Don Parker Weddle, 84, Camdenton, who died Jan. 26, 2001, at his home.
He was born May 14, 1916, near Halfway, a son of Carl P. and Mary L. Martin Weddle. He was married June 26, 1964, to Rebecca Christine Frazer, who survives at the home.
He graduated from high school in San Pedro, Calif., and was a Navy and Coast Guard veteran.
He was a union meat cutter.
After moving to Sunrise Beach in 1969, he was employed by Laurie Market and the Greenview Thriftway.
He retired in 1983 and moved to Camdenton. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Camdenton, and volunteered with Meals on Wheels for six years.
Other survivors include: one son, Carl Parker Weddle, St. Augustine, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Donna Boyles, Excelsior Springs, Sheryl Crow, state of Oregon; one stepson, William Berry, Camdenton; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
One grandson preceded him in death.
Services were held at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Tracy A. Carroll officiated. Burial, with military honors, was in Allee Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
WILLIAMS
James Henry Williams Jr., 80, Jefferson City, died Jan. 28, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Jan. 13, 1921, in Jefferson City, a son of James H. Sr. and Stella Elizabeth Waller Williams. He was married Feb. 9, 1939, in Mexico, to Daisy Cain, who survives at the home.
He attended schools in Jefferson City. An Army veteran of World War II, he was employed with John Groner Transport Company from 1938 to 1944 and with Transport Delivery Company from 1948 to 1983.
He was a golden member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693. He managed Little League Baseball.
Other survivors include: two sons, John L. Williams, California, and Robert E. Williams, Taos; three daughters, Mary K. Darnel, Jefferson City, Judith A. Bailey, Wardsville, and Linda L. Guilford, Lee's Summit; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Private services will be Wednesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. The Rev. Tom Nelson will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday.
