MURPHY

Tom Murphy, 71, Vienna, died Feb. 11, 2001.

He was born April 15, 1929, in El Centro, Calif., a son of Thomas and Lola Willshire Murphy. He was married Dec. 28, 1960, in St. Louis, to Mary Morgan, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran, he was a member of First Baptist Church, Vienna. He had lived in St. Louis and was a machine operator for Moog Automobile Parts Company, St. Louis, for 17 years, retiring in 1989.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Cameron Moles will officiate. Burial will be in Vienna Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, and from 1-2 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, Vienna, American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

MORGAN

Lena L. Morgan, 68, Lake Ozark, died Feb. 11, 2001, at Osage Beach Health Care Center, Osage Beach.

She was born May 25, 1932, in Paris, a daughter of Jessie and Ada Hayden Melvin.

She was a retired nanny.

Survivors include: three daughters, Becky Koehler, Palm Beach, Fla., Connie Gambrel, Chapel Hill, Tenn., and Terry Rogers, Foley; three sisters, Delores Oestreich, Lake Ozark, Juanita Peters, Quincy, Ill., and Marilyn Bieser, Ste. Genivieve; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The remains will be cremated.

Memorials are suggested to Lily's Garden Inc., 2603 Essex Place, Nashville, Tenn. 37212.

RACKERS

Goldie Irene Rackers, 83, Russellville, Ark., died Feb. 11, 2001, at her home.

She was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Elaton, a daughter of James W. and Sarah Colvin Harris. She was married to Anthony H. "Tony" Rackers, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and was a former member of the altar society.

Survivors include: two daughters, Kathleen Austin, Russellville, Ark., and Phyllis Boswell, Lamar, Ark.; three sons, Anthony Rackers,  Jefferson City, William "Bill" Rackers, Owasso, Okla., and Michael Rackers, Germany; two brothers; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. Ernest Hardesty will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Park.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. today at Shinn Funeral Service, Russellville, Ark., with the visitation following.

Memorials are suggested to AAA Hospice, 103 West Parkway, Suite 2A, Russellville, Ark. 72801; or St. John's Catholic Church, 1900 West Main, Russellville, Ark. 72801.

UNGER

Gary Paul Unger, 45, Dixon, died Feb. 10, 2001, in Rolla.

He was born Sept. 11, 1955, in St. Louis, a son of Richard J. and Elda Smith Scott Unger. He was married June 29, 1996, in Millerton, N.Y., to Patricia Hosier, who survives at the home.

He attended high school in St. Charles and worked as an electrician in New York.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Sandra Unger, state of Missouri, one brother, Richard Unger Jr., St. Ann; one sister, Karen Karcher, Hillsboro; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Gerald. The Rev. Robert Liebrecht will officiate. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.

WILLIAMS

Richard Albert Williams, 74,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 13, 2001, at Capital Healthcare Center.

He was born March 16, 1926, in St. Louis, a son of Richard and Arlevia Brown Williams. He was married April 7, 1952, in  Jefferson City, to Annette Louvenia Gilmore, who died April 12, 1995.

A graduate of Sumner High School, St. Louis, he attended Lincoln University. He was employed by the Missouri Highway and Transportation Department for 33 years until his retirement in 1988 as a disbursement accountant.

He was a sound technician for the Missouri House of Representatives for 12 years, and a Navy and Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Community Christian Church, the American Legion, and Capital City Lodge 9, A.F. & A.M.

Survivors include: one daughter, Rhonda D. Williams,  Jefferson City; one son, Richard D. Williams, Lubbock, Texas ; and one granddaughter.

Services, with military honors, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Community Christian Church. The Rev. David Avery will officiate. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

MERTENS

Irene M. Mertens, 90, Bonnots Mill, died Feb. 12, 2001, at Capital HealthCare Center.

She was born Nov. 10, 1910, in Bonnots Mill, a daughter of August and Gertrude Kramer Eynard. She was married Nov. 25, 1937, in Bonnots Mills, to Rudolph Henry Mertens, who died Jan. 7, 1982.

She was a member of St. Louis Church, Bonnots Mill; Catholic Knights of America; Osage County Library Board; Home and Garden Club; Bonnots Mill Community Betterment; and Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.

She co-owned and co-operated Eynard General Store, Bonnots Mill, from 1937 until 1995.

Survivors include: two sons, Maurice E. Mertens, Bonnots Mill, and Patrick L. Mertens,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Sue A. Minick, Hazelwood; three brothers, Albin Eynard and Jerome Eynard, both of  Jefferson City, and Wilfred Eynard, Kansas City; one sister, Ruth Marie Kuster, Linn; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Louis Church. The Rev. George Kramer and the Rev. Thomas McGrath will officiate. Burial will be in St. Louis Church Cemetery, Bonnots Mill.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Louis Parish Restoration Fund or Alzheimer's Association.

SPAIN

Merle Lorlene Byler Spain, 69, Linn Creek, died Feb. 12, 2001, in Springdale, Ark.

She was born Sept. 27, 1931, in Payton, Okla., a daughter of Bill and Mae Payne Bargay. She was married to Benson Byler, who preceded her in death.

She was a member of Linn Creek Baptist Church. She had lived in Seligman.

Survivors include: four sons, J.C. Byler and Larry Byler, both of Linn Creek, Charles Byler, Amarillo, Texas , and Johnny Byler, Springdale; one daughter, Judy Price King, Springdale; two sisters, Florence Skelton, Seligman, and Joyce Trip, Pea Ridge, Ark.; two brothers, George Truman Bargay, Midland, Ore., and Billy Bargay, Arkadelphia, Ark.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.

One son, Edward Dean Byler, and three grandchildren preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Linn Creek Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Ginnings will officiate. Burial will be in Freedom Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.

WILSON

Charles Thomas "Chester T." Wilson Jr., 54,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 12, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 9, 1946, in  Jefferson City, a son of Charles T. and Irene C. Copeland Wilson. He was married Nov. 23, 1996, in Columbia, to Linda L. Persinger.

He attended  Jefferson City public schools and was employed by Von Hoffman Press for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Indian Fellowships of Missouri. He was known as Summer Hawk. He was a member of Circle of the Red Road, Sons of the American Legion, the Moose Lodge and the Blues Association.

Survivors include: four sons, Niel Benjamin, Christopher A. Wilson and Carl A. Wilson, all of  Jefferson City, and Paul L. Wilson, Versailles; one daughter, Carrie K. Seaman,  Jefferson City; and five grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Saturday at Buescher Memorial Home. Robert Francis and Jim Strain will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to Capital Region Cancer Center, Cancer Research or to the Circle of the Red Road.

BURNHAM

Flossie Autumn Burnham, 92, Fayette, died Feb. 12, 2001, at Ruble Home Care Facility, Lebanon.

She was born Sept. 20, 1908, near Passover, a daughter of Luke V. and Loucetta Harrold Moulder. She was married Feb. 22, 1930, in Versailles, to Wilmer "Pete" Perkins, who died Sept. 4, 1949. She was married to Robert "Bob" Burnham, who preceded her in death.

She had lived near Linn Creek and was a graduate of Linn Creek High School.

She was a homemaker and worked on the family registered Angus and sheep farm. She was a member of First Christian Church, New Franklin.

She was involved in the American Angus Association and showed cattle in the American Royal, Kansas City.

Survivors include two nieces and one nephew.

One son, Donald "Sonny" Perkins, died Aug. 23, 1959.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Carr Funeral Home, Fayette. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, near New Franklin.

Memorials are suggested to Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
