FRANK

Michael Joseph Frank, 23,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 13, 2001, at his home.

He was born Nov. 14, 1977, in  Jefferson City, a son of Stephen O. and Jane Marie Schwartze Frank. His parents survive at the home.

A 1996 graduate of Helias High School, he attended Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, and Lincoln University. He was employed as a clerk at the Missouri State Supreme Court Library, and worked at Madison's Café.

He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and a Life Scout with Boy Scout Troop 6 at the church.

Other survivors include: two sisters, Michelle Ann Frank, New Florence, and Sarah Elizabeth Frank, of the home; one brother, Scott Christopher Frank, of the home; maternal grandfather, Vincent Schwartze,  Jefferson City; paternal grandparents, Elmer and Mary Frank, Wardsville; and paternal great-grandmother, Lucy Rehagen, Westphalia.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Msgr. Michael J. Wilbers, the Rev. Robert Fields, the Rev. Brendan Doyle and the Rev. Timothy Tatro will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Hospital or the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

HUNTER

James Donnan Hunter, 74, Laurie, died Feb. 12, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Aug. 21, 1926, in Versailles, a son of Donnan K. and M. Opal Roe Hunter. He was married June 19, 1948, in Versailles, to Shirley Dresser, who survives at the home.

A 1944 graduate of Versailles High School, he attended Central Methodist College and graduated from Central Missouri State University. He was a veteran of the Navy and the Navy Air Corps.

He worked as an assistant buyer for the Jones store in Kansas City in 1951. In 1952, he joined the family business in Versailles as parts manager at Hunter-McDonough Motor Company. He later became a salesman and then owner of the dealership. He sold the dealership in 1991 and retired.

He served on the Selective Service board and was a member and past president of the Versailles Lions Club. He was a charter member and past president of the Rolling Hills Country Club, Versailles. He was a member and past president of the Versailles Industrial Trust. He was a member of the American Legion Post 104, Versailles, and the Elks Osage Community Lodge 2705.

He was a 50-year member of United Methodist Church, Versailles, serving as past treasurer and was a former leader of the MYF. In 1993, he moved to the Laurie area, joining the West Lake Christian Church.

Other survivors include: one son, James Christopher Hunter, Laurie; one daughter, Kaya Hunter Meinershagen, Laurie; two brothers, William Ross Hunter, Versailles, and Larry Lee Hunter, Tampa, Fla.; and two grandsons.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at West Lake Christian Church. Burial will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Versailles.

Memorials are suggested to West Lake Christian Church.

SPENCER

Paul E. Spencer, 71, Ivy Bend, died Feb. 13, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Nov. 27, 1929 in Dixon, Ill., a son of Floyd and Myrtle Spencer. He was married Nov. 5, 1950, in Savanna, Ill., to Doris Nast, who survives at the home.

He worked as a tool and die maker for 36 years with the RBW Manufacturing Company in Rock Falls, Ill. He moved to Ivy Bend in 1988 to open Spencer's Bait Shop.

Other survivors include: two sons, Ron Spencer, Rock Falls, and Dave Spencer, Sterling, Ill.; one daughter, Kim Becker, Ivy Bend; one brother, Harold Spencer, Morrison, Ill.; four sisters, Norma McCoy, Pleasant Hill, Loris Whittington, Willow Springs, Doris Matuska, Blacksburg, S.C., and Carol Garland, Sterling; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; seven step grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. The Rev. Charles Caldwell will officiate. A memorial service will also be at Allen-Grennan Funeral Home, Rock Falls, Ill.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the Paul E. Spencer Fund.

ARTHUR

Roy Ronald Arthur, 76,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 13, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Dec. 3, 1924, in Omaha, Neb., a son of Roy I. and Esther Elizabeth Gordon Arthur. He was married Nov. 27, 1946, in Alexandria, Va., to Helen Theresa Urban, who survives at the home.

He farmed in the Reform area and retired as a heavy equipment operator with the University of Missouri-Columbia. A graduate of Bonne Terre High School, he was an Army veteran and a member of Reform Baptist Church.

Other survivors include: two daughters, Kathy E. Raithel and Lori Lynn Backes, both of  Jefferson City; two sons, Roy Stanley Arthur,  Jefferson City, and David R. Arthur, Fulton; one sister, Eleanor E. Jones,  Jefferson City; five grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home. The Rev. Doyle Sager will officiate. Burial will be in Hawthorn Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association.

BOND

Janice Elaine Bond, 42, Independence, formerly of Eugene, died Feb. 13, 2001, in Blue Springs.

She was born Nov. 8, 1958, in Kansas City, a daughter of Donald G. and Eleanor M. Bond. Her parents survive in Blue Springs.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She is also survived by one brother, Kirk Bond, Grain Valley, and one sister, Ren'ee Harris, Marietta, Ga.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. Lloyd Parr will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Garden Cemetery, Eugene.

BERHORST

Alfred Francis "Fritz" Berhorst, 79, Westphalia, died Feb. 14, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born April 3, 1921, in Westphalia, a son of Charles and Theresa Borgmeyer Berhorst. He was married Oct. 10, 1945, in Taos, to Angeline Anna Verslues, who survives at the home.

A lifelong farmer in Osage County, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia; Holy Name Society; Westphalia Lions Club; Westphalia Senior Citizens; Westphalia American Legion; Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council 1171; National Farmers Organization; and Missouri Pork Producers Association.

Other survivors include: two sons, Stephen Berhorst, Westphalia, and Ralph Berhorst, Freeburg; eight daughters, Emily Luebbering, Lillian Lackman, Lucy Suthoff and Patricia Kaiser, all of St. Thomas, Mary Jane Lueckenotte and Rhonda Czarnecki, both of  Jefferson City, Doris Neier, Rich Fountain, and Janice Iacovino, Naples, Fla.; one sister, Regina Verslues, Taos; 38 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.

Two sons, Glenn Berhorst and Thomas Berhorst, and two granddaughters preceded him in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. The Rev. Robert A. Kurwicki will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Westphalia.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Catholic School, Westphalia.

Arrangements are under the direction of Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia.

GRANDSTAFF

Glen S. Grandstaff, 78,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 15, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born July 30, 1922, in Canton, a son of Joseph A. and Dessie A. Porter Grandstaff. He was married July 28, 1967, in Canton, to Edna Mae Hustead Scott, who died Feb. 1, 2001.

He was employed with Curtis-Wright airplane division from 1941 to 1947. He owned and operated Grandstaff Dairy, Canton, from 1947 to 1957.

He had also been a partner in the Dog and Suds, Canton.

He worked for Chicago Burlington and Quincy Railroad from 1957 until his retirement in 1984.

He was a member of First Baptist Church,  Jefferson City, and Craft Lodge 287 AF and AM, Canton.

He had lived in Canton.

Survivors include: one stepdaughter, Rovene Thirtyacre,  Jefferson City; one brother, Dr. Earl Clayton Grandstaff, Republic; two step granddaughters; and four step great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davis Funeral Home, Canton. The Rev. Ernest Deatrick will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Grove Cemetery, Canton.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

KEVER

Wilma Marie Kever, 69, Frankenstein, died Feb. 14, 2001, at Green Meadows Health Care Center, Linn.

She was born May 16, 1931, in Luystown, a daughter of Werner and Legora Bunch Kever.

She was a homemaker, caregiver and babysitter.

A member of Our Lady of Help Church, Frankenstein and Our Lady of Help Altar Society, she was active in the Linn Senior Center.

Survivors include: two brothers, Linus Kever and Leonard Kever, both of Frankenstein; and three sisters, Sister Cathryn Kever SSSF, Frankford, Pat Dickneite, Mokane, and Linda Troesser, Bonnots Mill.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Help Church. The Rev. Thomas McGrath and the Rev. George Kramer will officiate. Burial will be in Garden of Gethsemane, Frankenstein.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's School.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.
