HICKS

Earl Hicks, 84,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 14, 2001, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

He was born Oct. 19, 1926, in Montgomery County, Ill., a son of Fred and Ettie Revis Hicks. He was married July 27, 1935, in Vandalia, Ill., to Pauline Marie Sampson, who survives in Lawrenceville, Ill.

He had worked for the Phoenix (Ariz.) Union High School for 25 years and had also lived in Sun City Center, Fla. He performed gospel music in churches, nursing homes and for senior citizen groups. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, Ill., and was a past member of the Fayette County Genealogical Society.

Other survivors include: one son, Norman G. Hicks, Bonita Springs, Fla.; two granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

One infant son preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia. The Rev. Jim Staff will officiate. Burial will be in the South Hill Cemetery, Vandalia.

Memorials are suggested to the First United Methodist Church, Vandalia, Ill., or to the Mid-Missouri Alzheimer's Association.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

JOHNSON

Ralph Edwin Johnson, 72,  Jefferson City, died Feb. 17, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born June 10, 1928, in Holcomb, a son of John B. and Lynn Emily deAyotte Johnson. He was married Sept. 9, 1972, in  Jefferson City, to Mary Evelyn Hughes, who survives at the home.

He had been a self-employed contractor, a draftsman, and mechanical engineer. More recently, he was a design engineeer with Sprint from 1978 to 1986. He retired in 1993 as an engineering technician with the Missouri Adjutant General's Office. He was past president of the  Jefferson City Noon Lions Club and a past district governor.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Lana K. Martin,  Jefferson City; one stepson, James D. Hughes, Lehigh, Okla.; one sister, Joyce Claypool, state of Arizona; and two grandsons.

Private family services will be held.

Memorials are suggested to the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, Avenue of the Chiefs, Crazy Horse, S.D. 57730-9506.

LAUGHLIN

Mary Ann Laughlin, 64, Taos, died Feb. 16, 2001, at St. Marys health Care Center.

She was born Feb. 22, 1936, in Vienna, a daughter of Adam and Myrtle Replogle Wieberg.

She graduated from St. Peter's High School.

She served as a lab technician in the United States Army from 1956-1958 and also at Capital Region Medical Center for 29 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church.

Survivors include two sons, Rodney Batten, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Clay Laughlin,  Jefferson City; two daughters, Ruth Fitzpatrick, Wardsville, and Amy Feller, Linn; seven brothers, Larry Wieberg and Albert Wieberg, Westphalia, Adam Wieberg, Vienna, Joe Wieberg, Freeburg, Virgil Wieberg, Henley, John Wieberg and Bill Wieberg, Holts Summit; and nine grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Wardsville. The Rev. Louis Dorn and the Rev. Tony Townley will officiate. Burial will be with full military honors in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at Houser-Millard  Jefferson City Chapel, with prayer service at 8 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.

LEIMKILLER

Della Pearl Leimkiller, 95, Chamois, died Feb. 18, 2001, at her home.

She was born Oct. 9, 1905, in Mount Sterling, a daughter of Louis and Maggie Pointer Leimkiller.

She attended Mint Hill School in Osage County and was employed as a seamstress for Oberman Manufacturing Co. She co-operated the family farm.

Survivors include: two nieces, Shirley Keilholz, Chamois, and Esther Wilson, Long Boat Key, Fla.; and three nephews, Hadley Joyce and Marvin Leimkiller, both of Linn, and the Rev. Floyd Leimkiller, Rolla.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois. The Rev. Floyd Leimkiller will officiate. Burial will be in Useful Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to Useful Cemetery.

TOMBS

Andrew M. "Andy" Tombs, 74, Versailles, died Feb. 17, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

He was born May 14, 1926, in Sikeston, a son of Charlie and Maudie Cole Tombs. He was married March 3, 1951, to Sarah Jane Calton, who died Aug. 26, 1983.

An Army and Navy veteran, he was a machinist at Butler Manufacturing, Kansas City, until his retirement.

Survivors include: one son, Mark Thedor Tombs, Sunrise Beach; two daughters, Barbara A. Wymer, Murray, Utah, and Katherine D. Smith, Buckner; one sister, Betty Jo Mower, Wellsville, Kan.; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.

KREBS

John L. Krebs, 97, Mokane, died Feb. 18, 2001, at Riverview Nursing Center, Mokane.

He was born March 13, 1903, in Steedman, a son of John and Maggie Malcolm Krebs. He was married Dec. 24, 1924, to Callie Reinhardt, who died July 22, 1991.

He was a lifelong farmer. He was a member of Steedman Methodist Church, the A.F. & A.M. of Mokane Lodge 612, Shriners of Columbia, Scottish Rite of Columbia, Woodman Lodge and Eastern Star of Mokane.

Survivors include: one daughter, Kathleen Turner,  Jefferson City; one brother, Christy Krebs, Holts Summit; one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Bruce Bernard will officiate. Burial will be in Steedman Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today, with a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Steedman Cemetery.

BEALS

Bert Major Beals, 79, Roach, died Feb. 17, 2001, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born Oct. 1, 1921, in Independence, a son of Bert and Hulda Johnson Beals. He was married July 29, 1944, to Betty Carter, who survives at the home.

He was a Navy and Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, and was a member of the VFW in Osage Beach. He retired from the lithography trade in Kansas City in 1981 and moved to the Lake area.

Other survivors include: one son, Zachary Beals, Holden; one daughter, Becky Groff, Stockton; and two sisters, Marguerite Rathbun, Independence, and Deanna Henion, Reeds Spring.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Tracy Carroll will officiate. Graveside services will be Thursday at Flora Hills Cemetery, Kansas City.

Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

HUDDLESTON

Augusta Bertha Heidbreder Huddleston, 96, Tipton, died Feb. 17, 2001.

She was born July 17, 1904, near California, a daughter of Gotlieb D. and Charlota Westing Heidbreder. She was married in 1927 to Beaumont Burnett, who preceded her in death. She was married in 1937 to Wendell Huddleston, who preceded her in death.

After graduating from Aurora High School in 1922, she moved to Kansas City. She was employed by Western Union in Kansas City and Washington , D.C., for 40 years until her retirement.

She was active at United Church of Christ, California, and she was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, California Chapter 521.

She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in United Church of Christ Cemetery, California.

Visitation will be from 1-1:30 p.m. Friday.

Memorials are suggested to United Church of Christ, California.

CANADAY

Brandon Canaday, 22, Elsberry, died Feb. 17, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

He was born Jan. 27, 1979, in St. Louis, a son of Bob and Shari Canaday. His mother and stepfather, Shari and Rob Enloe, survive in Osage Beach. His father and stepmother, Bob and Debe Canaday, survive in Lake St. Louis.

He attended Camdenton High School and received his GED in 1997. He graduated from Teen Challenge, Cape Girardeau, in 1998.

Other survives include: one sister, Brandi Canaday, Osage Beach; one brother, Ryan Canaday, Osage Beach; three stepbrothers, Eric Enloe, Christopher Enloe and Daniel Enloe, all of Lake St. Louis; one half-brother, Micah Canaday, Lake St. Louis; his fiancee, Carie Ketterer, Elsberry; grandparents, Harold and Marian Billington, Linn Creek, and Gerald and Sue Canaday, St. Ann; and great-grandparents, Ellaree Billington, Camdenton, and Della Emery, Marion, Ill.

Services will be at 7 p.m. today at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, Osage Beach. The Rev. Mark Steffen will officiate. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Freedom Cemetery, Linn Creek.

Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m. today at the church.

Memorials are suggested to a trust fund established at Central Bank in Osage Beach and Camdenton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton.
