WALKUP
Harold Raymond Walkup, 78, Montgomery City, died Feb. 20, 2001, at New Florence Nursing and Care Center, New Florence.
He was born Feb. 25, 1922, in Center, a son of Ottis Lee "O.L." and Allie Mae Briggs Walkup. He was married Feb. 27, 1949, to Mary Lou Clark, who died June 19, 1991.
He attended the University of Missouri. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a bulldozer operator and aircraft mechanic. He was associated with Walkup Drug, and owned and operated Walkup Cleaners.
He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Montgomery City. He was a member of the VFW Post in Montgomery City, the American Legion, Masonic Lodge 246 A.F. and A.M., and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery City.
Survivors include: two daughters, Linda Grotewiel, Jefferson City, and Nancy Melton, St. Peters; one sister, Wanda Sharp, Center; and four grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, Montgomery City. The Rev. Duane Cline will officiate. Burial will be in Montgomery City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday at Schlanker Funeral Home, Montgomery City.
Memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church, Montgomery City.
SQUIBB
John Wallace Squibb, Bois D'Arc, died Feb. 19, 2001, at his home.
He was born Jan. 2, 1932, a son of Wallace and Ruth Crank Squibb. He was married to Christine Peterson Squibb, who survives in Jefferson City.
He was a farmer, inventor of farm equipment and a professor of economics at both Southwest Missouri State University and Drury University. He was presiding judge of the Green County Court from 1975-1979. He was a member of the Democratic Party.
Other survivors include: two sons, Wallace Squibb, Springfield, and Lee Squibb, Bois D'Arc; two daughters, Elizabeth Squibb and Toraino Hellems, both of St. Louis; two brothers, David Squibb, Springfield, and Weldon Squibb, Bois D'Arc; one foster son, Mark Vert, Rogersville; one foster daughter, Susie Branham, Rogers, Ark.; and one grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First and Calvary Presbyterian Church, Springfield. The Rev. Todd Holman and the Rev. Alf Halvorson will officiate. Burial will be in Prospect Cemetery near Bois D' Arc.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Wilson-Brim-Daniel Funeral Home, Ash Grove.

PATTERSON
Martha Elizabeth Patterson, 67, Ulman, died Feb. 17, 2001, at her home.
She was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Lincoln, Neb., a daughter of Elmer H. and Edith Fideline Schliefert. She was married July 21, 1984, in Mount Vernon, Wash., to Donald Patterson, who survives at the home.
She was a cashier and hostess for most of her life.
Other survivors include: two sons, Dale Pope, Tacoma, Wash., and Kenneth Pope, Quilcene, Wash.; four daughters, Denise Sherman, Redman, Wash., Diana Sherman, Hackettstown, N.J., Debra Mason, Boise, Idaho, and Kathryn Pope, Quilcene; five brothers, William Schliefert, Wahoo, Neb., Lavier Schliefert, Deep Water, Earnest Schliefert, Lincoln, Calif., Elmer Schliefert, state of Nebraska, and Frank McNealy, Eagle Point, Ore.; and one sister, Mildred Rodgers, La Mirada, Calif.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rekus Funeral Home, Iberia. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate.
Visitation will be from 10:30-11 a.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to Ovarian Cancer Research.
OSBORN
Wayne Osborn, 92, Camdenton, died Feb. 20, 2001, at Windsor Estate Nursing Home, Camdenton.
He was born Oct. 17, 1908, in Macks Creek, a son of D. Boone and Mary Artimitia Osborn. He was married June 4, 1932, in Macks Creek, to Erva Varner, who died March 7, 1956. He was married March 17, 1957, in Independence, to Berla D. Jackson, who survives at the home.
A member of Macks Creek Baptist Church, he was the Macks Creek postmaster from 1935-1966. He was a member of Macks Creek Lodge 433 for 70 years. He served as the Eastern Star worthy patron for 23 years and was grand chaplain of Missouri Masons in 1978.
Other survivors include: one son, Larry Osborn, Macks Creek; four daughters, Marlene Fleeman, Kingsville, Jean Osborn, Corpus Christi, Texas , Marlyn Eidson, Macks Creek, and Linda Worthington, Pittsburg; two sisters, Mamie Lou Creach, Warrensburg, and Freda Cumper, Camdenton; 17 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, Macks Creek. The Rev. Gary Golston will officiate. Burial will be in Macks Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hedges Funeral Home, Macks Creek, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
MIER
Wayne "Shorty" E. Mier, 81, Eldon, died Feb. 20, 2001, at Osage Beach.
He was born April 4, 1919, in Decatur, Ill., a son of Oscar and Buelah McGlennen Mier.
He had been a food producer for Archer-Daniels Midland Co. A member of Tabernale Baptist Church, Decatur, he was an Army veteran of World War II. He earned four Silver Stars, six Bronze Stars and three Purple Hearts.
Survivors include: one son, Robert G. Matherly, Eldon; one brother, Omer Mier, Decatur; and 12 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Kerry Presnell will officiate. Private burial will be Friday at Graceland Cemetery, Decatur.
Memorials are suggested to the World War II Veteran's Memorial Fund.
LOVELACE
Edith Frances Lovelace, 83, Raytown, died Feb. 19, 2001, at Regency Care Center, Independence.
She was born Oct. 11, 1917, in Kearney, a daughter of Charles R. and Nancy K. Bailey Ivy.
She lived in Eldon 20 years and was a member of the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 4224. She was a cook.
Survivors include: one son, Steven Lovelace, Grain Valley; one daughter, Margaret Kabrick, Hudson, Wis.; two brothers, Thomas Ivy, Marceville, Texas , and Harry Ivy, Independence; three sisters, Lillian Arnold, Blue Springs, Mary Franco, Versailles, and Georgia Montavy, Independence; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Fred Smith will officiate. Burial will be in Greenmore Memorial Gardens near Barnett.
Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. Friday.
LEHMEN
Clara Dorothy Lehmen, 82, Rich Fountain, died Feb. 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born Oct. 31, 1918, in Rich Fountain, a daughter of John and Rose Rehagen Krieg. She was married Oct. 15, 1940, in Rich Fountain, to Cletus Lehmen, who died June 1, 1992.
A homemaker, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Rich Fountain, St. Ann's Sodality and St. Ann's Sewing Circle.
Survivors include: three sons, Jerry Lehmen, Rich Fountain, and Ron Lehmen and Larry Lehmen, both of Jefferson City; three daughters, Delores Bremer, Jefferson City, Jeanie Bax, St. Anthony, and Noreen Luebbering, St. Thomas; one brother, Anthony Krieg, Rich Fountain; one sister, Anna R. Linnenbrink, Rich Fountain; 16 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Church, with prayer services at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Morton Funeral Home, Linn. The Rev. Mark Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart School.
LAMBERT
Leo Lambert Jr., 73, Gravois Mills, died Feb. 20, 2001, in Osage Beach.
He was born Sept. 16, 1927, in Moline, Ill., a son of Lee and Peggy Lambert. He was married July 15, 1950, in Moline, to Wanda Lee Bauercamper, who died Oct. 4, 1984.
An Army veteran, he was an electrician with the John Deere Company and the Montgomery Elevator Company in Moline. He was a member of the Ozark Sailing Club in Lake Ozark.
Survivors include: two sons, Randy Lambert, Channahon, Ill., and Dennis Lambert, Hannibal; and two grandchildren.
Services will be after a regatta Saturday at Ozark Sailing Club at Four Seasons Marina in Osage Beach. Burial will be at a later date in Moline.
Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home.

Wilkes Straley, 84, Camdenton, died Feb. 18, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
