MILLER

Rev. Edward J. Miller, 90,  Jefferson City, died March 8, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Nov. 15, 1910, in Centerville, Iowa, a son of Charles E. and Laura Rash Miller. He was married March 22, 1941, to Freda Craver Miller, who survives at the home.

An Army veteran of World War II, he was a full-time farmer until he was ordained as a Methodist minister in 1958. He retired in 1977 but continued to serve until 1983.

Other survivors include: one son, Johnny Miller, Tebbetts; one daughter, Joyce Murphy, Holts Summit; two sisters, Mabel Earles, Des Moines, Iowa, and Edith Agan, Numa, Iowa; and two grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Bruce Bernard will officiate. Burial will be in Mokane Cemetery, Mokane.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

Memorials are suggested to the Methodist Church Food Pantry.

ROONEY

Francis J. Rooney, 74, Gravois Mills, died March 9, 2001, at Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.

He was born Sept. 20, 1926, in Cameron, a son of Laurence and Kizzie Hangley Rooney. He was married Aug. 21, 1974, to Barbara L. Seymore, who survives at the home.

He was a retired warehouse supervisor for Sears, Kansas City, and an Army veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Osage Community Elks Lodge 2705, both in Laurie; Zack Wheat American Legion Post 624, Sunrise Beach; the 40 & 8; and the Laurie Bowling Association.

Other survivors include: two sons, David Rooney, Kansas City, and Dennis Rooney, Olathe, Kan.; one daughter, Donna Lee, Middletown, Ohio; one stepson, John Taylor, Kansas City; two stepdaughters, Jama Rooney, Olathe, and Janice Mamie, Holt; nine grandchildren, two step grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.

One stepdaughter, Joy Taylor, preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Shrine of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Monsignor Gerard Poelker will officiate. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Monday in Mount Moriah Terrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie, with a rosary at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Leukemia Foundation.

BIERI

Mary Margaret Bieri, 93, California, died March 8, 2001, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Lawrence, Kan.

She was born Dec. 30, 1907, in Moniteau County, near High Point, a daughter of Joseph F. and Susan Mellie Reynolds Andrews. She was married April 12, 1927, in Moniteau County, near Latham, to Carl T. W. Bieri, who died May 8, 1981.

She was secretary for the Heart of Missouri Girl Scout Council,  Jefferson City, for 15 years. She also worked at Latham Sanitarium and Linn County Manor as a nurse's assistant. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, California, and was a member of Homemaker Sunday school class. She also taught Sunday school classes for many years. She was a 1926 graduate of California High School, taught school one year and attended Capital Business College,  Jefferson City.

Survivors include: one daughter, Teri Ingram, Lawrence, Kan.; one step-sister, Elia House, Shawnee Mission, Kan.; one grandson; and one great-granddaughter.

Services are 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Services, California. The Rev. Greg Morrow will officiate. Burial will be in High Point Cemetery, High Point.

Visitation is Monday, from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church-Memorial Fund, 208 South Oak St., California, Mo., 65018.

BITTICK

James "Jim" O. Bittick, 61, Centertown, died March 8, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center,  Jefferson City.

He was born Oct. 22, 1939, near Centertown, a son of Famous Oral and Nettie Welch Bittick. He was married April 8, 1961, in  Jefferson City, to Brenda Lee Hill, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Jamestown High School, he was a self-employed siding applicator for homes. He was a member of St. Martin Catholic Church, St. Martins, and the NRA.

Other survivors include: three sons, Kenneth Bittick, Springfield, Robert Bittick, Centertown, and Michael Bittick,  Jefferson City; one daughter, Tanoah Arbuckle, Tremont, Miss.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Martin Catholic Church. The Rev. Edwin Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in St. Martins Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, with a prayer service at 4 p.m., at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

Memorials are suggested to St. Martin Catholic Church, 7148 St. Martins Ave.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109; or St. Martins School, 7206 St. Martins Ave.,  Jefferson City, Mo., 65109.

THOMPSON

Geneva Mae Thompson, 89,  Jefferson City, died March 8, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Elston, a daughter of Scott E. and Mary Maude Pace Hartley. She was married Dec. 24, 1928, in Elston, to Martin William Thompson, who died July 14, 1978.

She attended Elston School. She was a member of the Memorial Baptist Church, the Naomi Sunday School Class and AARP. She was a homemaker and worked at Tweedies Footwear Corporation for 40 years until retirement.

Survivors include: one sister, Hazel Adams, Rawlins, Wyo.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

One son, Roy Lee Thompson, died Jan. 20, 2000.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Elston Baptist Church. The Rev. Rick Conley will officiate. Burial will be in Elston Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.

BRUNE

Al Brune, 98, Brinktown, died March 10, 2001, at his home.

He was born June 11, 1902, in Maries County, a son of Peter and Philomena Bauer Brune.

He was a member of Guardian Angels Catholic Church, Brinktown, and a lifelong farmer in Maries County.

Survivors include: one brother, Joseph Brune, Brinktown; and one sister, Hilda Winkelman,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Guardian Angels Catholic Church. Burial will be in Guardian Angels Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday.

Memorials are suggested to Guardian Angels Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.

DICK

Virgil Leroy Dick, 81, Otterville, died March 9, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.

He was born Jan. 7, 1920, in Otterville, a son of Frank and Cordia Taylor Dick. He was married June 23, 1951, in Clinton to Sarah Meyer Dick, who survives at the home.

He lived all his life in the Otterville Community and worked with his father in the sawmill business and with Dick's Well Drilling. He also was a farmer.

Other survivors include: one son, Tony Dick, Otterville; two daughters, Joyce Walters, Otterville, and Janet Johns, Trophy Club, Texas ; and two granddaughters.

Services are Monday at 11 a.m. at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be in St. Andrews Cemetery, Tipton.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today.

KILPACK

John Allred Kilpack, 27, Camdenton, died March 8, 2001, in Columbia.

He was born May 24, 1973, in Bountiful, Utah, a son of Jerald L. and Ellna Allred Kilpack. His parents survive in Camdenton. He was married Dec. 4, 1992, in Osage Beach, to Martha Banuelos Kilpack, who survives at the home.

He was a construction worker and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Osage Beach.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Monica A. Kilpack, Mylin Kilpack and Marlene Kilpack, all of the home; one son, Jadon D. Kilpack, of the home; six sisters, Jerile K. Lodwick, Nashville, Tenn., Delyn K. Helm, Minneapolis, Paula K. Ogden and Dianna K. Hanes, both of Camdenton, Cindy K. Potts, Fulton, and Marlene K. Schoonmaker, St. Louis; and four brothers, Joel A. Kilpack, Oshkosh, Wis., Jess A. Kilpack, Bountiful, Jay C. Kilpack, Columbia, and Jason A. Kilpack, Camdenton.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Robert Moe will officiate. Burial will be in the Kilpack Family Cemetery, Camdenton.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m.-12:45 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the John A. Kilpack Memorial Fund at Citizen's Bank, 256 E. Hwy. 54, Camdenton, Mo. 65020.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips Funeral Home, Eldon.

QUIGG

Eyerly Harmony Quigg, 97,  Jefferson City, died March 9, 2001, at the Garden View Care Center of Chesterfield, St. Louis.

He was born Aug. 1, 1903, in Fredericktown, a son of Edgar and Mary Alice Farmer Harvey. He was married Nov. 23, 1927, in Joplin, to C. Beatrice VanDover, who died Jan. 18, 1980.

He attended schools in Joplin. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the  Jefferson Lodge 43, A.F. & A.M. and the Moolah Shrine. He was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 47 years and retired as a plant superintendent of the  Jefferson City office in 1966.

Survivors include: one son, Michael B. Quigg, St. Louis; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

One son, David Quigg, died in 1936.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Buescher Memorial Home. The Rev. Rudolph W. Beard will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
