BURNS

Leona Mae Burns, 84, Camdenton, died March 10, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.

She was born May 11, 1916, in Camden County, a daughter of J.E. and Josephine DeCoursey McGuire. She was married April 13, 1932, to Luther Burns, who died March 31, 1987.

A homemaker, she had lived in Laclede County. She was a member of the Ira Baptist Church in Eldridge.

Survivors include: three daughters, Clora Webb, Eldridge, and Martha Heimbeaugh and Jeanie Webster, both of Camdenton; three sons, J.D. Burns, Eldridge, and Lester Burns and Clarence Burns, both of Camdenton; two brothers, J.R. McGuire and Eugene McGuire, both of Camdenton; one sister, Ivah Leathers, Linn Creek; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

One son, Glen Burns, one grandson and two great-grandchildren preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Horeb Baptist Church, Decaturville. The Rev. Paul Burns will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton.

Memorials are suggested to the Mount Horeb Cemetery.

CONNELL

Frankie Carmen Connell, 88,  Jefferson City, died March 10, 2001, at Capital Healthcare Center.

She was born Aug. 26, 1912, in Centertown, a daughter of George E. and Ora Belle Allen Connell.

A former Marion resident, she worked as a clerk for the Missouri Department of Revenue for several years. She was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church, north of Centertown.

Survivors include: one sister, Ruby Jean Wyrick,  Jefferson City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Norman Potter will officiate. Burial will be in New Hope Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, Moniteau Chapter, in care of Judy Allee, P.O. Box 333, Latham, Mo. 65050, or to the New Hope Cemetery Fund, in care of Clarence Higgins, 2802 Pea Ridge Rd., Centertown, Mo. 65023.

PRENGER

Anna Marie "Mitzie" Prenger, 74,  Jefferson City, died March 11, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.

She was born Aug. 21, 1926, in  Jefferson City, a daughter of Everett J. and Belle Bernice Wheeler Norwood. She was married Feb. 11, 1950, in  Jefferson City, to Harold E. Prenger, who survives at the home.

A 1944 graduate of St. Peter High School, she retired from the Missouri Department of Revenue in 1991. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and Ladies Sodality. She was a founding member of the Happy Nine Club and was a Girl Scout and Boy Scout leader.

Other survivors include: two sons, Alan J. Prenger and Bruce E. Prenger, both of  Jefferson City; one daughter, Penny A. Killian, New Bloomfield; one brother, Ted Norwood, Ellisville; one sister, Madeline Porter, El Paso, Texas ; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at St. Peter Catholic Church. The Rev. Donald W. Lammers and the Rev. Joseph Corel will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Peter Catholic Church Building Fund or the Oncology Department at St. Marys Health Center.

STROBEL

Albert John Strobel, 93, Russellville, died March 11, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born July 16, 1907, in Lohman, a son of Ehardt and Anna Woehrer Strobel. He was married Jan. 27, 1937, in Lohman, to Emma Ritter, who died Sept. 17, 1993.

He attended Mount Hope School in Cole County. He farmed in the Russellville area until retiring. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Russellville. He had lived in  Jefferson City Manor Care Center for the past six years.

Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church. The Rev. Nancy Oliver will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville, and from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Russellville.

COSSEY

Gloria Jean Cossey, 52,  Jefferson City, died March 12, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born Oct. 31, 1948, in St. Louis, a daughter of J.B. "Shorty" Cope and Nora Emma Pruessner Cope. Her mother survives in Breckenridge. She was married Aug. 3, 1968, in Overland, to Dewayne Elton Cossey, who survives at the home.

A graduate of Ritenour High School, Overland, she attended Southeast Missouri State University. She was employed with J.C. Penney Company for six years and Schriefer's Office Equipment for eight years. She had been employed with the Missouri Bankers Association for the past five years.

Other survivors include: one son, Travis Cossey, Nixa; one daughter, Lesli Murphy, Hannibal; one brother, James Garner, Breckenridge; three sisters, Barbara Bray, St. Charles, Joyce Giancola, St. Peters, and Debbie Garner, Overland; and one granddaughter.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Wesley United Methodist Church. The Rev. David W. Conley will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the Wesley United Methodist Church "Making Room" Building Fund.

LEMLER

Rita Marie Lemler, 95, Stover, died March 11, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

She was born April 5, 1905, in Glensted, a daughter of Conrad and Katie M. Born White . She was married Dec. 18, 1930, in Brauersville, to Carl Lemler, who died Dec. 19, 1972.

A graduate of Versailles High School, she attended CMSU in Warrensburg and earned a teaching degree. She taught in rural schools in Morgan County.

She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Stover, where she had taught Sunday school and was a member of the WELCA.

Survivors include: one son, Ralph Lemler, Stover; two daughters, Virgie Holsten, Stover and Marian Ehlers, Sedalia; one stepdaughter, Dorine Balke, Cole Camp; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

One infant granddaughter preceded her in death.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Christ Lutheran Church. The Rev. Harlan Kaden will officiate. Burial will be in Kipp Memorial Cemetery, Stover.

Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the American Diabetes Association Research Program.

BURNS

OBERG

Clarence W. Oberg, 71, Kingdom City, died March 10, 2001, at his home.

He was born July 16, 1929, in Hermann, a son of Edwin and Carrie Mae Hutchins Oberg. He was married June 21, 1997, to Deanna Bruce, who survives at the home.

He worked for the state, retiring in 1994.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Wanda Atterberry,  Jefferson City; one stepson, Jacob Bruce, Kingdom City; one brother, Nathan Oberg, Washington ; and grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maupin Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Ralph Bruce will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to Missouri River Hospice, 3210 Bluff Creek Drive, Columbia, Mo., 65201; or the American Cancer Society c/o Joneda Phillips, 1295 Mokane Road, Fulton, Mo., 65251.

MARSHALL

Albert Prince "A.P." Marshall, 86, Ypsilanti, Mich., formerly of  Jefferson City, died March 9, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 5, 1914, in Texarkana, Texas , a son of Early and Mary Bland Marshall. He was married June 12, 1941, to Ruthe Langley, who survives.

He graduated from Lincoln University in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in library science and was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. He earned a master's degree in 1950 from the University of Illinois. He worked at Lincoln from 1939 to 1941 as assistant librarian and director of the Inman E. Page Library.

He was library director at Winston-Salem Teacher's College in North Carolina. He worked at Eastern Michigan University, Ypsilanti, from 1969 to 1980 as director of libraries, dean of academic services and professor of library science before retiring.

He served on numerous professional, service and educational associations and boards. A published author, he won many awards, including the Lincoln University Alumni Achievement Award in 1965.

A Coast Guard veteran, he was a member of the African Methodist Episcopal Church at Quinn Chapel and Brown Chapel, Ypsilanti.

Other survivors include one daughter, Satia Marshall Orange, Chicago, and two grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Chapel AME Church, Ypsilanti.

Memorials are suggested to the Albert P. and Ruthe L. Marshall Scholarship Fund in care of Brown Chapel AME Church, 1043 W. Michigan Ave., Ypsilanti, Mich. 48197.

Arrangements are under the direction of Harris Funeral Home, Detroit.
