WIRTHS
Fred Joseph Wirths, 92, Tipton, died March 16, 2001.
He was born Sept. 29, 1908, in Blackwater, a son of William and Elizabeth Dick Wirths. He was married May 28, 1937, in Tipton, to Mina Gish, who died Sept. 21, 1977.
He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 42 years in the Sedalia shop.
He was a member of the St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include: one son, John Wirths, Tipton; one daughter, Mary Beth Dicus, Clarksburg; one brother, Raymond Wirths, Wichita, Kan.; one sister, Edna Knipp, Tipton; eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
One son, Norbert Wirths, preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Tipton. Fr. Henry Reichert will officiate. Burial will be at St. Andrew's Cemetery, Tipton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus service.
Memorials are suggested to the St. Andrew's School.
YORK
Clifford J. York, 82, Stover, died March 16, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 8, 1919, in Swedeborg, a son of Loyd and Bitha Jeffries York. He was married Dec. 31, 1941, in Pacific, to Jane R. Sutter, who survives at the home.
He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was employed for 46 years with Union Electric. He was a member of the Vichy Masonic Lodge 531 and the I.B.E.W. Local 2, St. Louis.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Carolyn J. Richie, Stover; two grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.
Masonic services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Stover. Burial with military honors will be in Stover Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Monday.
WHITESELL
Clyde E. Whitesell, 71, Sunrise Beach, died March 17, 2001, at the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
He was born May 3, 1929 in Kansas City, Kan., a son of Clyde Lee and Elva Nichols Whitesell. He was married Sept. 20, 1959, in Kansas City, Kan., to Joann Hannaman, who survives at the home.
He was a superintendent for Kansas City Power and Light for 37 years.
He was a member of the West Lake Christian Church, Laurie, and the Elks Lodge 2705.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Rhonda Brown, Stoutland, and Linda Whitesell and Debbie Whitesell; one son, Mike Whitesell; one sister, Patricia Brayan, Morrilton, Ark.; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hedges Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. Frank Loeher will officiate. Burial will be in Stoutland Cemetery, Stoutland.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday.
HAMNER
J. Temple Hamner, 84, Osage Beach, died march 16, 2001, at the Lake Regional Health System, Osage Beach.
He was born Aug. 9, 1916, in Salisbury, a son of Ernest and Lucy Fennel Hamner. He was married Dec. 19, 1978, to Meeja Kang, who survives at the home.
He was a dairy business owner in the state of California and a construction company owner in Kansas before owning the Temple Resort, Osage Beach.
He was a member of the Saddle Clubs, the Elks Lodge, the Lake of the Ozark Association, the Osage Beach Chamber of Commerce and Harper Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a Camden County reserve sheriff's deputy, an Osage Beach alderman and police commissioner.
Other survivors include: one son, Gary Hamner, Osage Beach; one daughter, Mary Corum, Nixa; one brother, Dempsey Hamner, Lake Ozark; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
One son, Gordon Hamner, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Hedges Funeral Home, Osage Beach. The Rev. Bob Hickman will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osage Beach.
Visitation is from noon-2 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice.
STEVER
Frank Allen Stever, 80, Versailles, died March 14, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
He was born Aug. 21, 1920, in St. Louis, a son of Frank M. and Elsie M. Vogel Stever. He was married Dec. 6, 1941, in St. Louis, to Frances Stewart, who died Nov. 6, 1986.
He attended schools in St. Louis and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, St. Louis, and the Disabled American Veterans.
He was employed as a machinist with Barry Wehmiller Company until his retirement in 1985.
Survivors include: one daughter, Sherry Ann Schallert, St. Louis; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held.
Memorials are suggested to the Disabled American Veterans.
Arrangements are under the direction of Buescher Memorial Home.
BAYSINGER
Lucille Baysinger, 90, Jefferson City, died March 17, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 12, 1910, in St. Louis, a daughter of Harry and Elizabeth Graham Gram. She was married in 1940, in Jefferson City, to Harry Baysinger, who died Sept. 27, 1977.
She attended school in St. Louis and graduated from St. Louis Business College. She worked for Attorney General Roy McKittrick before returning to St. Louis in 1944 and then working at the small arms factory in Weldon Springs. She was the secretary in the Teamsters Union, St. Louis, in 1947.
She returned to Jefferson City in 1954 and owned and operated the Jefferson City Limousine Service. She joined the Jefferson City Police Department in 1959 and became the first police woman. She was secretary to Chief Claude Short and Chief Lawrence Patton. She retired in 1976 as a corporal.
She was a 40-year member of Immaculate Conception Church and a member and past president of the Lady Elks. She was active in the Missouri Police Chiefs Association.
Survivors include: one daughter, Mary Ann McGrail, Jefferson City; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Gregory Higley will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. today at Freeman Mortuary.
Memorials are suggested to the Immaculate Conception Church Building Fund.
FISCHER
Joseph S. "Joe" Fischer, 93, California, died March 17, 2001, at Ashland Healthcare, Ashland.
He was born April 13, 1907, in California, a son of Stephen H. and Henryetta K. Heinen Fischer. He was married Oct. 2, 1935, in Boonville, to Elizabeth M. Rouchka, who died Sept. 14, 1989.
He attended California High School and worked at his father's restaurant in California. He was a rural mail carrier. He opened a shoe repair business in the 1930s, before becoming a harness maker at Heck's Saddlery from 1941 to 1975. He then established Joe's Leather Shop, retiring in 1996.
He was a member of Annunciation Catholic Church, California, and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include: three sons,, Paul Fischer, California, Tom Fischer, Columbia, and Jim Fischer, Chesterfield; five daughters, Mary Jo Taube, Janet Scheidt and Rose Scheidt, all of Columbia, and Liz H. Schlup and Debbie Miller, both of California; 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
One great-grandson preceded him in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Annunciation Catholic Church. Msgr. Francis Gillgannon will officiate. Burial will be in Annunciation Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

HUBER
Catherine H. Huber, 88, Westphalia, died March 17, 2001, at Westphalia Retirement Center.
She was born Nov. 30, 1912, in Meta, a daughter of Herman and Elizabeth Theresa Kerns Strop. She was married in August 1940, in Meta, to Joseph Anton Huber, who died Jan. 28, 1987.
A graduate of Meta High School, she was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Westphalia. She had been a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Altar Society at St. Peter Church.
Survivors include: one daughter, Joann Wilde, Westphalia; two sons, Robert C. Huber, Jefferson City, and Donald H. Huber, Payson, Ariz.; three sisters, Sr. M. Lucille Strop, SSND, St. Louis, Lucille Houchin, Derby, Kan., and Evelyn Groene, Overland; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
One infant daughter, Elizabeth Huber, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City. Msgr. Charles H. Patterson will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Jefferson City, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
