LLOYD
James E. Lloyd, 66, Rocky Mount, died March 20, 2001, at Rusk Rehabilitation Center, Columbia.
He was born May 20, 1934, in Lewis County, a son of Samuel E. and Harriet Elizabeth Carmen Lloyd. He was married Dec. 30, 1971, in Palmyra, to Norma Gaus, who survives at the home.
He graduated from Canton High School and Culver Stockton College. An Army veteran of the Korean War, he was a life member of VFW Post 6514 in Osage Beach. He was a retired farmer.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Debra Weisheit, state of Texas , Barbara O'Dear and Nancy Dreyer, both of Quincy, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Debra Suggs, state of Texas ; one sister, Mildred West, state of Arizona; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today.
ALTHOFF
Paul C. Althoff, 78, Richland, Wash., died March 16, 2001, at Kadlec Medical Center in Richland, Wash.
He was born Jan. 6, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio, a son of Alvin H. and Clara Mabel Regenous Althoff. He was married in 1969 to Helen McDonald, who died Nov. 16, 1991.
He was a resident of Richland for more than 50 years. He worked as an electrical engineer for Hanford operations. He was a member of Southside United Protestant Church, the V.F.W. and the IEEE. He graduated from Purdue University in 1949 with a degree in electrical engineering.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Blackburn will officiate. Burial will be in Green Cove Cemetery, north of Latham.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday.

GODAR
Catherine R. Godar, 85, Jefferson City, died March 20, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born Sept. 17, 1915, in Jefferson City, a daughter of Bernard and Mary Helen Dulle Rolfes. She was married Nov. 27, 1948, in Jefferson City, to Edward A. Godar, who survives at the home.
A graduate of St. Peters High School, she worked as a legal secretary for several attorneys in private practice and in the office of the Missouri attorney general. She also worked as the association secretary for the Missouri Bus and Truck Association for eight years. She was then an administrative secretary for several state senators, retiring in 1980.
She was a member of the Association of Retired Missouri State Employees and the Women's Association of St. Joseph Cathedral Parish. She was a past member of the St. Marys Health Center Auxiliary and Meadow Lake Acres Country Club. She volunteered with the St. Joseph Parish School lunch program and the St. Peters Parish special education program, now known as the Vogelweid Learning Center.
One daughter, Mary Kaye Godar, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph Cathedral. The Rev. Frederick J. Elskamp will officiate. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:30-12:30 p.m. Friday at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home.

WISER
Ruby A. Wiser, 85, Jefferson City, died March 21, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
She was born Sept. 30, 1915, in Cole County, a daughter of Ira and Martha Dawson Scott. She was married Oct. 14, 1933, in California, to Herbert W. Wiser, who died Nov. 6, 1990.
She was a lifelong resident of Russellville until moving to Jefferson City in 1998. She attended school at Mount Carmel and Russellville. She worked for 22 years at the Missouri Department of Revenue, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Russellville, where she had been a member of the WMU, the choir, the building committee and the ladies quilting group. She served Meals on Wheels and taught the adult Sunday school class.
Survivors include: three daughters, Rita Wiser, of the home, and Carol Shikles and Sonya Baysinger, both of Jefferson City; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
One son, Gary Wiser, preceded her in death.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Monte Shinkle and the Rev. Alan Earls will officiate. Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery, Russellville.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home, Russellville.
Memorials are suggested to the Mount Olive Baptist Church Building Fund.
CRANE
James W. "Bill" Crane, 86, Ashland, died March 21, 2001, at Boone Hospital Center, Columbia.
He was born Aug. 15, 1914, in Englewood, a son of R.G. and Nora Estes Crane. He was married Dec. 24, 1935, in Columbia, to Mary Helen Calvin, who died Aug. 7, 1997.
A former resident of Hartsburg, he was a farmer. He was employed in the building and grounds department at the University of Missouri for 25 years until his retirement in 1977.
He was a member of Woodcrest Primitive Baptist Church and the Southern Boone County Senior Center, both in Ashland.
Survivors include: two daughters, Shirley May Shock and Sylvia Jo Brown, both of Hartsburg; one brother, Elmo Crane, Harrisburg; two sisters, Eliza Hoffman, Columbia, and Anna Pearl Calvin, Hallsville; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Robinson Funeral Home, Ashland. Wallace Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Woodcrest Cemetery, Ashland.
Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday.

UMBARGER
Robert Berton Umbarger, 93, Camdenton, died March 20, 2001, at Lake Regional Hospital, Osage Beach.
He was born April 29, 1907, in Knox County, Tenn., a son of Walter L. and Annie Eliza Byerley Umbarger. He was married Dec. 24, 1927, to Marcella Paul Green, who survives at the home.
He was raised in Tennessee. An electrical engineer, he worked at a submarine base in San Diego, as well as missile silos in Arizona. He assisted in the construction of steel mills and power plants in California and Texas . He lived in Camdenton the past 22 years.
He attended Camdenton United Methodist Church. He was a member of IBEW Local 175 in Chattanooga, Tenn. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He earned his pilot's license.
Other survivors include: one daughter, Natalie Dodd, Camdenton; one son, Richard Scott, Camdenton; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. The Rev. O'Neal Loetscher will officiate. Burial will be in Dale Blair Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the Dogwood Animal Shelter.
COONTZ
Services were today for Taylor Marie Coontz, infant daughter of Jason L. and Amanda Gail Wheeler Coontz, Versailles, who died March 21, 2001, at her home.
She was born Dec. 21, 2000, in Osage Beach. Her parents survive at the home.
Other survivors include: one brother, Jason L. Coontz Jr., of the home; paternal grandparents, Jack and Connie Coontz, Versailles; maternal grandparents, Gary and Sharon Wheeler, Gravois Mills; paternal great-grandparents, Roy Jackson Coontz, Stover, Barbara Spurgeon, Gravois Mills, and Pearlie Hagerman, Versailles; and maternal great-grandmothers, Marie Hess, Kirksville, and Fay Jennings, Warrensburg.
Services were at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. Barry Grider officiated. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery.
GRANT
John Emerson Grant, 83, Jefferson City, died March 22, 2001, at Oak View Skilled Care Center.
He was born July 8, 1917, in Jefferson City, a son of Aubrey R. and Ruth Cleveland Ross Grant. He was married March 8, 1942, in Jefferson City, to Frances Carender, who survives at the home.
An Army veteran of World War II, he attended banking school at the University of Oklahoma and University of Wisconsin. He was a loan officer at Central Trust Bank from 1937 to 1967. He was senior vice president of Jefferson Bank from 1967 until his retirement in 1980. He continued to serve on the board of directors at Jefferson Bank until 1993.
He was an honors member of First United Methodist Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 43 A.F. & A.M., the York Rite Shrine Moolah Lodge, St. Louis, and Jefferson City Country Club.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Barbara White , Lee's Summit, and Betty Ramsey, Jefferson City; one sister, Dorothy Stewart, Napa, Calif.; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Houser-Millard Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.
Memorials are suggested to First United Methodist Church, the American Heart Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
HASSELBRING
Rick Hasselbring, 47, Sunrise Beach, died March 20, 2001, at the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.
He was born July 11, 1953, in Melrose Park, Ill., a son of Kenneth R. and Nell A. Ambrose Hasselbring. His mother survives in Sunrise Beach. He was married March 18, 2000, to Carol A. McCartney Girardin, who survives at the home.
A 1971 graduate of Camdenton High School, he owned and operated Deer Valley Park, near Sunrise Beach.
Other survivors include: one son, Dustin Hasselbring, Sunrise Beach; one daughter, Kelly Hasselbring, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two stepsons, Steven Kearns, Milton, Iowa, and Kevin Kearns, Wyaconda; one stepdaughter, Marcia Schubert, Lancaster; and eight step grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at West Lake Christian Church, Laurie. The Rev. Ron Roberts will officiate.
