DALSTEIN
John Edward "Ed" Dalstein, 82, Jefferson City, died April 4, 2001, at St. Marys Health Center.
He was born Aug. 23, 1918, in Centertown, a son of John H. and Chloe Edith Wood Dalstein. He was married Oct. 7, 1939, in Jefferson City, to Mardel "Sue" Phelps, who died March 31, 1993.
He attended Simonsen High School. A former resident of McGirk, he worked as a welder for the Missouri Pacific Railroad for 36 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees.
He was a Baptist.
Survivors include: one son, Richard Dalstein, Jefferson City; one daughter, Linda Taggart, St. Louis; one brother, Vernon Dalstein, California; four sisters, Henrietta Cook, California, Kathryn Roberson, Jefferson City, Chloe Bishop, Lebanon, and Jane Bailey, Grand Junction, Colo.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
One infant daughter, Ruth Ann Dalstein, died Feb. 18, 1943.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Frank Whitney will officiate. Burial will be in California City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday.

AYLOR
Marie N. Aylor, 77, Jefferson City, died April 2, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born May 19, 1923, in Ralls County, a daughter of Henry O. and Blanche Thompson Norris. She was married Oct. 14, 1949, in Fulton, to Richard B. Aylor, who died May 16, 1997.
She graduated from Perry High School and Capital Commerce College in Jefferson City. She had been employed by several state agencies. She was a member of First Baptist Church; the Princess Rebekah Lodge 813, Tebbetts; a past member of the Rebekah Social Club; and a member of the American Association of Retired Persons.
Survivors include: three daughters, Lisa M. Henderson, Holts Summit, Leanne R. Robinson, St. Charles, and Holly B. Miller, Mammoth Spring, Ark.; one sister, Merlee Moss, Laddonia; one brother, William Norris, Saginaw, Texas ; and six grandchildren.
Graveside services will be in Riverview Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
BROWN
Dianna Lynn Brown, 36, Eldon, died April 4, 2001, at her home.
She was born Aug. 5, 1964, in Sedalia, a daughter of Donald and Euneva Strange Brown. Her parents survive in Eldon.
A resident of the Eldon area for most of her life, she was a member of Old Path Baptist Church, near Eldon.
Other survivors include: four sisters, Karen Porter and Rebecca Edwards, both of Eldon, Kathie Boatman, Barnett, and Penny Beard, Brumley; and paternal grandmother, Viola Lake, Eldon.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Rekus Funeral Home, Eldon. The Rev. Jerry Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Dooley Cemetery, near Eldon.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
CHAFFEE
Services were today for Delphine Chaffee, 96, Vienna, who died April 2, 2001, at Maries Manor Health Care Center, Vienna.
She was born Aug. 27, 1904, in Bonne Terre, a daughter of Michael and Ann Skrippa Mital. She was married Aug. 14, 1945, in Ponca City, Okla., to George Mercer Chaffee, who died May 12, 1995.
She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Lady Lions, the Frontenac Garden Club and the Ikebana National Garden Club. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include: one daughter, Delphine Carroll, Vienna; one stepdaughter, Marilee Shoupe, Chesterfield; one granddaughter and two great-grandsons.
Services were at Vienna United Methodist Church. The Rev. Karen Alden officiated. Burial was in Vienna Public Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to Vienna United Methodist Church or the Vienna Public Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund.
Arrangements are under the direction of Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna.
CLENNIN
Nicholas W. "Nick" Clennin, 89, California, died April 4, 2001, at his home.
He was born June 28, 1911, in California, a son of Nicholas G. and Emma Mary Elizabeth Hohman Clennin. He was married Oct. 1, 1933, in McGirk, to Trella C. Bolin, who died Jan. 20, 2000.
He attended Highland School. He milked cows until his retirement in 1987, and delivered milk and eggs in California for many years. He was a meter reader for Moniteau County North Electric Association.
He served on the Highland School Board and was a member of California United Church of Christ, where he taught Sunday School and served on the church consistory.
Survivors include two sons, Harold Clennin and Paul Clennin, both of California, two grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California. The Rev. Gary Schulte will officiate. Burial will be in Rohrbach Cemetery, near California.
Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Saturday.

CRISWELL
Evelyn Jewell Criswell, 84, New Bloomfield, died April 3, 2001, at Hospice Friendship House.
She was born Feb. 22, 1917, in McBaine, a daughter of Everett and Evelyn Shelnutt Ballenger. She was married April 8, 1939, in Keytesville, to Russell Paulide Criswell, who survives at the home.
A homemaker, she was a graduate of Hickman High School. She worked for the Missouri Division of Employment Security for 25 years before her retirement.
She was a member of the New Bloomfield United Methodist Church where she was a charter member of the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the XYZ Club, the Filmore Extension Club, the Fulton Garden Club, the New Bloomfield Lions Club and the Callaway County Extension Council.
Other survivors include: three daughters, Louise Trammell and Evelyn Thomas, both of New Bloomfield, and Linda Ferguson, Jefferson City; one son, Tom Criswell, Grain Valley; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Fulton. The Rev. Brad Schmidt will officiate. Burial will be in Callaway Memorial Gardens, Fulton.
Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today.
Memorials are suggested to the Hospice Friendship House, 601 East High Street, Jefferson City, Mo., or New Bloomfield United Methodist Church.
DIAL
Esther Helen Dial, 79, Chamois, died April 4, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.
She was born Dec. 3, 1921, in Chamois, a daughter of Moses M. and Helen W. Gungoll Townley. She was married to James M. Dial, who preceded her in death.
A graduate of Chamois High School and St. Louis Business School, she was a sales secretary for IML Freight, St. Louis. She was a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 688.
In 1981, she retired to Chamois.
Survivors include one son, Keith Dial, Chamois, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John United Church of Christ, Chamois. The Rev. Deborah Pope will officiate. Burial will be in Chamois City Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Meyer-Hilke-Millard Funeral Home, Chamois.
Memorials are suggested to St. Louis Children's Hospital.
LAWSON
Mildred Fern Lawson, 87, Jefferson City, died April 4, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.
She was born March 31, 1914, in New Bloomfield, a daughter of James R. and Katy Ella Foster Lawson.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery for 20 years. She was a member of the Winsome Sunday School Class.
She lived in St. Louis from 1942 to 1947 and worked at Carter Carburetor making bomb fuses for the war. She worked as an auditor for the Missouri Department of Revenue for 38 years, retiring in 1983.
Survivors include one brother, Sam T. Lawson, Holts Summit.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit. The Rev. David Phelps and Dennis Maxwell will officiate. Burial will be in Hopewell Cemetery, New Bloomfield.
Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday.
