LANDES

Larry John Landes, 53, Gravois Mills, died May 2, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born May 14, 1945, in Sedalia, a son of John A. and Alean D. Kubli Landes. His parents survive in Gravois Mills.

He was a cabinet maker and a certified boat mechanic at the Lake of the Ozarks. He served in the Army Reserves and was a member of the Raytown Jaycees.

Survivors include: one son, Kyle Landes, state of Illinois; one daughter, Karri Landes, state of Illinois; two stepdaughters, Kim Charpie and Kelly Rose, both of the state of Illinois; one brother, Jimmy C. Landes, Raytown; two sisters, Sheryl Lynchard, Raytown, and Karri Wiltfong, Clinton; maternal grandmother, Edna Kubli, Sedalia; and six grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Laurie. The Rev. James Lawley will officiate. Burial will be in Garber Memorial Estates Cemetery, Laurie.

Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials are suggested to the Friendship House, 601 N. High St.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65101.

MOORE

Corrine M. Moore, 83,  Jefferson City, died May 4, 1999, at Capital Region Medical Center.

She was born April 29, 1916, in Morriston, a daughter of Dr. Claude and Ada Coy McRaven. She was married in 1940, in Hayti, to Dr. J.V. Moore, who died in 1971.

A graduate of Morriston High School, she received a bachelor's degree and master's degree in education from Arizona State University, Tempe, Ariz. She taught school in the Paradise Valley School District, Scottsdale, Ariz., for 20 years until her retirement in 1979.

She was a member of First Methodist Church of Hayti, the Arizona State Alumni Association and the American Association of University Women. She had been a resident of the  Jefferson City area since 1992.

Survivors include: one daughter, Luana Gifford,  Jefferson City; two brothers, Dr. Al McRaven, Jonesboro, Ark., and Col. C.C. McRaven, San Antonio; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bellefountaine Cemetery, St. Louis. The Rev. Shane Crum will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Freeman Mortuary.

Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.

NICKELL

Opal Marie Nickell, 71, Fulton, died May 2, 1999, at her home.

She was born Jan. 12, 1928, in Houston, Texas , a daughter of Melvin and Lilly Mae McNeal Pettit. She was married to Lloyd Nickell, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons, Morgan Bray, state of Colorado, and Kenny Foster, Fulton, one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

Services will be at 7:30 p.m. May 10 at the Church of Christ, Fulton.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

NIEKAMP

Clarence J. Niekamp, 71, Loose Creek, died May 2, 1999, at University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics.

He was born Nov. 25, 1927, in Loose Creek, a son of Frank and Emma Boillot Niekamp. He was married July 9, 1955, in Bonnots Mill, to Leonarda Schaeffer, who survives at the home.

He attended Loose Creek schools. He worked for John Robertson Mill, Lock Brothers Mill and Muenks Feed Mill, retiring in 1987.

He was a founder and co-owner of Niekamp Tables and Grills, near Loose Creek. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. He delivered News Tribune newspapers.

Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Niekamp and Dale Niekamp, both of Loose Creek; two daughters, Dorothy Niekamp and Darlene Niekamp, both of Loose Creek; one sister, Eleanor Scheulen, Linn; and three grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, Loose Creek. The Rev. Richard Cronin will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Morton Funeral Home, Linn, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to A Little Closer to Heaven, P.O. Box 128, Loose Creek, Mo. 65054.

TOMLINSON

Jerry David Tomlinson, 58, Tipton, died May 2, 1999, at his home.

He was born Feb. 9, 1941, in Morgan County, a son of Robert C. and Maebelle Beatrice Nichols Tomlinson. His mother survives in Tipton. He was married Aug. 14, 1995, in Tipton, to Gail Morrison, who survives at the home.

A lifelong resident of Morgan and Moniteau counties, he farmed. He was a volunteer for the Kathy Jim Roberts Hospice.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Diana Leigh Hill, Warrensburg, and Julia Michele Tomlinson and Leslie Danielle Tomlinson, both of Columbia; one brother, Kenny Tomlinson, Sedalia; and two sisters, Kay Adams, Tipton, and Patty Ricken, Knob Noster.

One grandson preceded him in death.

Services will be at 10 am. Wednesday at Meisenheimer-Griswold Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. John Williams and the Rev. Bill Womack will officiate. Burial will be in Tipton Masonic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

BASINGER

Sarah Herman Basinger, 86,  Jefferson City, died May 4, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born Oct. 23, 1912, in Callaway County, a son of Calhoun and Lucille Seifert Basinger.

A former Holts Summit resident, he farmed in Callaway County most of his life.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Bull Cemetery, Holts Summit. Bruce Williamson will officiate.

Visitation will be from noon-2 p.m. Friday at Debo Funeral Home, Holts Summit.

ENGEMANN

Sister Mary De Lellis Engemann, FSM, 81, Richmond Heights, formerly of  Jefferson City, died May 3, 1999, at St. Mary of the Angels Convent of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary, Richmond Heights.

She was born Frances Martha Engemann on Jan. 24, 1918, in Charette, a daughter of John and Anna Mary Engemann.

She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Mary in 1940 and professed her final vows in 1946. She received a certificate of nursing in 1950 at St. Mary's School of Nursing, Kansas City. She was a nurse in the nurseries at Firmin Desloge Hospital (now St. Louis University), SSM St. Mary's Health Center-St. Louis and St. Mary's Ringling Hospital, Baraboo, Wis.

She served locally at St. Marys Health Center from 1974 to 1975, and was a lab volunteer at SSM St. Mary's Health Center-St. Louis until her retirement in 1992. She was co-director of the SSM and FSM Prayer Program.

Survivors include: two sisters, Hedwig Bonnarens, St. Ann, and Regina Rigdon, Warrenton; and four brothers, Clarence Engemann, Laddonia, Herman Engemann and Sylvester Engemann, both of Marthasville, and Victor Engemann, Eureka.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary of the Angels Convent Chapel. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, St. Louis.

Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the chapel, with a wake service at 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Tribute Fund, 1100 Bellevue Ave., St. Louis, Mo. 63117-1883.

HIGGINS

David Charles Higgins, 44, Centertown, died May 3, 1999, at St. Marys Health Center.

He was born Dec. 3, 1954, in  Jefferson City, a son of Charles G. "Bud" and Margaret Rupert Higgins. His parents survive at the home.

A graduate of Russellville High School, he received a degree in business administration from Lincoln University in 1977. He worked as a clerk II at the Missouri Department of Revenue Division of Taxation for 18 years.

He was a member of Centertown Baptist Church.

He also is survived by one brother, Mark Higgins, Centertown.

Services will be at 10:45 a.m. Friday at Centertown Baptist Church. The Rev. Dave Scudder will officiate. Burial will be in Centertown Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Bowlin-Cantriel Funeral Home, California.

Memorials are suggested to Centertown Baptist Church, Centertown, Mo. 65023.

KIGAR

Dorothy Marie Kigar, 96,  Jefferson City, died May 3, 1999, at  Jefferson City Manor Care Center.

She was born Feb. 27, 1903, in Montour, Iowa, a daughter of William and Lottie Magee Shelton. She was married to Lewis Kigar, who died Feb. 6, 1966.

She attended Potter School, near Montour. She moved to Kirksville and was a homemaker. She later moved to  Jefferson City and was a cook's helper until she retired.

She was a member of South Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses.

Survivors include: one niece, Pauline Shultz, Marshalltown, Iowa; and one nephew, Albert Wall, Marshalltown.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maple Hills Cemetery, Kirksville. The Rev. Doug Spiher will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Fohn Funeral Home, Kirksville.
