LOESCH

Laverne L. Loesch, 84,  Jefferson City, died April 4, 2001, at Villa Marie Skilled Nursing Facility.

She was born May 7, 1916, in Lohman, a daughter of Leo C. and Anna Brandt Linhardt. She was married Sept. 9, 1944, in Lohman, to Herbert B. Loesch, who survives at the home.

She attended school at Lohman. She was a member of both St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the church's Welca Women organization.

Other survivors include: one daughter, Cathy Propst,  Jefferson City; two sons, Larry Loesch,  Jefferson City, and John Loesch, Lohman; one brother, Irlee Linhardt, Lohman; three sisters, Corine Linsenbardt, Ladine Heidbreder, both of Lohman, and Aleen Schiller, Tacoma, Wash.; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. The Rev. Carl Gauck and J.A. Schiller will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Weber and Sons Funeral Home, Russellville.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of  Jefferson City or St. Paul's Lutheran Perpetual Cemetery Fund.

COLTER

Bobby Allen Colter, 45, New Bloomfield, died April 6, 2001, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 10, 1956, in  Jefferson City, a son of Carl A. and Joyce Burks Colter. His parents survive in New Bloomfield. He was married June 20, 1987, in New Bloomfield, to Neena L. Mosbey, who survives at the home.

He attended New Bloomfield High School and was a Marine Corps veteran. He was a self-employed floor covering installer for 20 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Guthrie.

Other survivors include: two sons, Dustin LeAllen Colter, of the home, and Jimmy Allen Snell, Monroe La.; one stepdaughter, Christina Marie Munson, Holts Summit; two brothers, Dale Lee Colter, New Bloomfield, and Scott Allen Colter, Vandalia; one sister, Diana Kay Distler,  Jefferson City; and one grandson.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors, Holts Summit. Don Munford will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Dustin LeAllen Colter Education Fund in care of Bankstar One in New Bloomfield.

BORGMEYER

Eric A. Borgmeyer, 17, Bonnots Mill, died April 6, 2001, in Osage County from injuries received in an automobile-related accident.

He was born Aug. 4, 1983, in  Jefferson City, a son of Alan J. and Rhonda Heet Borgmeyer, who survive at the home.

He was a lifelong area resident and a junior at Fatima High School. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church of Loose Creek, and a member of its Catholic Youth Organization. He was a member of the FFA and the Fatima High School trap shooting team. For the past four years, he had been employed at the Wayne Eynard Cabinet Shop.

Other survivors include: maternal grandparents, Donald and Lola Heet, Linn; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Diane Borgmeyer, Loose Creek; paternal great-grandfather, Herbert Schaefer, Loose Creek; paternal great-grandmother, Alma Borgmeyer, Taos; and two brothers, Jesse Borgmeyer and Scott Borgmeyer, both of the home.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church. The Rev. Gregory Meystrik will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday at the church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Immaculate Conception School.

Arrangements are under the direction of Morton Funeral Home, Linn.

GROSS

Bige Gross, 66,  Jefferson City, died April 6, 2001, at his home.

He was born Sept. 13, 1934, in Kitts, Ky., a son of Bige and Beatrice Hall Gross. He was married March 7, 1955, in Fulton, Miss., to Betty Sue Swindle, who survives at the home.

He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He worked for Pullman & Standard Railroad in Birmingham, Ala., for 19 years. He also worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections for 15 years until retiring in 1995.

Other survivors include: Bige Byron Gross, Phoenix; two sisters, Jeannette Guthrie and Nancy Cheatwood, both of Jasper, Ala.; four granddaughters; and one great-grandson.

Private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

HALLER

Debra Haller, 48, Freeburg, died April 6, 2001, at the Hospice Friendship House in  Jefferson City.

She was born Jan. 12, 1953, a daughter of Fred and Shirley Combs Chaney. Her parents survive in Cape Fair. She was married June 17, 1972, to Robert Haller, who survives at the home.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg. She had worked as a sales clerk at the MFA, Quaker Window Products, Total Quick Shop and Freeburg Home Center.

Other survivors include: one son, Jesse Haller, Overland Park, Kan.; one daughter, Julie Wankum, Columbia; one brother, Edward Chaney, Cape Fair; one sister, Donna Adams, Rolla; and one maternal grandmother, Opal Combs, Reeds Spring.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Family Catholic Church. The Rev. Mike Murphy will officiate. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. today and 9-10:30 a.m. Monday at Birmingham-Martin Funeral Home, Vienna, wih a prayer service at 7 p.m. today.

Memorials are suggested to the Hospice of  Jefferson City or Hospice Friendship House.

TALIAFERRO

Walter L. Taliaferro, 68,  Jefferson City, died April 7, 2001, at his home.

He was born March 26, 1933, in Hannibal, a son of Walter E. and Ada P. Bent Taliaferro. He was married Nov. 27, 1955, in Hannibal to Mary E. Short, who survives at the home.

He graduated from Monroe City High School and earned an associate's degree from Hannibal-LaGrange College. He was a business analyst for the Missouri Department of Transportation for 34 years, retiring in 1991.

He was a member and a deacon at Concord Baptist Church and a member of the Firehouse Wood Carvers. He was also a member of the  Jefferson City Masonic Lodge No. 43 AF & AM, the Shriner's Moolah Temple in St. Louis and the Capital Shrine Club in  Jefferson City. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.

Other survivors include: three daughters, Erin LeAnn Kirkland, Nixa, Kimberly Ann Taliaferro and Lisa Kay Cox, both of  Jefferson City; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Concord Baptist Church. Monte Shinkle will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to the Faith Challenge at Concord Baptist Church, 3724 W. Truman Blvd.,  Jefferson City, Mo. 65109.

Arrangements are under the direction of Houser-Millard Funeral Directors.

WHITMER

Lois Marcella Whitmer, 96, Columbia, formerly of Fulton, died April 6, 2001, at Lenoir Health Care Center, Columbia.

She was born Jan. 3, 1905, in Vernon County a daughter of W.E. and Mary Ann Moore Sharp. She was married Dec. 27, 1926, to Clyde F. Whitmer, who died Aug. 20, 1991.

She grew up in Nevada and attended Warrensburg State Teachers College. In 1935, she opened the Patty Shop, a ladies ready-to-wear store. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fulton and for many years taught the young adults' Sunday school class. In 1978, she and her husband retired to the Lenoir Retirement Community.

Survivors include: one daughter, Patricia McGrew, Holiday Island, Ark.; four grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She has donated her body to science. Services will be at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to the Fellowship of John c/o Lenoir Retirement Community, 3612 Lenoir St., Columbia, Mo. 65201, or the charity of the donor's choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of Debo Funeral Home, Fulton.

WALTER

Joseph H. Walter, 87, Versailles, died April 7, 2001, at Good Shepherd Care Center, Versailles.

He was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Purcell, a son of John R. and Myrtle Bee Walter. He was married Aug. 14, 1946, to Helen B. Huff, who died March 24, 1996.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 104 and VFW Post 5902. A member of First Baptist Church, Versailles, he was a baker and carpenter before his retirement.

Survivors include: one sister, Ann Pace, Riverside, Calif.; and two brothers, Floyd Walter, state of Missouri, and Harry Walter, Sebastopol, Calif.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles. The Rev. Todd Forman will officiate. Burial with military honors will be in Versailles Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Kidwell-Garber Funeral Home, Versailles.
